He went through half a dozen scenarios in his mind, debating on flowers versus chocolate. 'Too late for flowers,' he realized that he would have a hard time finding a flower shop at this hour.

Then, a thought struck him. 'Chocolate will do the work,' he remembered. 'Just not the cheap stuff.' He glanced at the clock and grimaced. Not a lot of options left, but he'd figure something out.

He went out of the room. Once he headed down the stairs, Kai noticed him immediately. Kai's calm but watchful gaze followed Allen, his lips twitching into a faint smile. "And where are you off to tonight, sir?"

"Heading over to my girlfriend's place," Allen replied, giving a casual wave as he reached the bottom step.

Kai arched his brow. "And which girlfriend would that be this time?"

"Bella," Allen said, smirking. "Figured I'd rescue her from whatever crisis she's wrapped up in. Plus, she could use some cheering up."
