Chapter 108:Casper and her Friend Zombie

Opening his eyes after 4 hours of sleep and listening to the sound of the streets, Adryan could only sigh.

"Nothing..." he murmured as he looked at the ceiling of his room.

He had spent all day yesterday looking for any clues regarding the cops who escaped but he had gotten nothing.

"You know, finding someone is not as easy as it seems" said Flora and the redhead just nodded.

Getting up from his bed he changed and dressed in the worker's clothes.

Wrapping the bandages around his hands, he fixed his hair and put on his hat.

Hunching over, he left his room and through the dirty hotel corridor, he went downstairs to the ground floor where he bumped into the old man from earlier who was playing cards with other younger men.

This old man ignored him while playing but the other men didn't. They glared at him and Adryan pretended to shake with fear and got out of there as 'quickly as he could'.

He could hear the loud laughter of those men and this made him sigh.

'When I get out of here, you'll be the first to die,' the redhead thought as he remembered the faces of the men.

With those thoughts he kept walking, accompanying a crowd of workers who were on their way to work in the factories.

These workers had dead looks in their eyes.

Adryan didn't stay in this crowd for long but when he got to a specific alley, he entered it being ignored by the workers.

He advanced a little more until he was sure he would not be seen. Straightening his back, he took a great leap, grabbing onto a pipe in the wall and climbing up to the roof of the building.

Already there he approached a bag that he had placed there and grabbed it. Placing it on his shoulder he ran across the rooftops unseen by the people below.

He continued like this until the limits of the East Borough. Going down an empty alley he opened the bag revealing his clothes as Holmes.

....

Bravehearts Bar.

In the Poker room, as always, Maric was playing cards with his zombies and the Old Man was playing billiards with other zombies.

Hitting a red ball and seeing how it didn't fall into the hole, the Old Man just sighed as he waited for the zombie to take his turn.

"I'm sorry to bother you gentlemen but I'd like to talk to you" But before the zombie could make his move they all heard a voice.

Maric turned his head and saw how Adryan was in the shadows.

The man had his face uncovered but had the hood of his windbreaker pulled up to hide his hair.

The Old Man was surprised for a moment but seeing the familiar face he only sighed exasperatedly.

"Brat..." the old man said surprised but all he received was Adryan's icy gaze that made him freeze.

Maric narrowed his eyes as he watched the man.

"So you're alive"

Adrian snorted as he answered.

"Thanks to your friend I'm almost not" This confused Maric a bit but Adryan ignored the man and turned his gaze to the Old Man.

"I want my letters" he said seriously and the old man nodded uncomfortably.

"This time there are 3"

Adryan nodded as he handed the money to the old man and grabbed the letters that had different stamps.

"I want to talk to Maric alone" the Old Man moved his eyes slightly to Maric who nodded.

The old man nodded and left the room.

Now only Adryan, Maric and his zombies remained.

Adryan listened as the Old Man's footsteps moved further away and when he finally got far enough, he spoke.

"I also want to talk to Sharron" Maric wasn't surprised by the man's words but he didn't say anything.

This caused both of them to fall silent and stare at each other.

"What do you want to talk about?" a woman's voice sounded from the side.

Turning his gaze, Adryan saw how a woman was sitting on a chair.

She is a young woman with a pale face, blonde hair, blue eyes, and delicate features. She was wearing a black gothic royal dress and a soft hat.

Adryan nodded slightly.

"From Maric's words, I must assume that what happened in my house was already in the newspapers" Adryan said calmly and Sharron nodded gently.

"They wrote that the gas pipes had a malfunction and this caused an explosion, your whereabouts are unknown but there were witnesses who say they saw a man carry a burned body" said Maric and Adryan nodded internally surprised.

"So that bitch survived huh?" his words made Maric and Sharron raise an eyebrow.

"Why did you ask to speak to me?" Sharron asked, her voice flat with no emotion.

'She really does look like a doll, in looks and voice' Adryan thought as he replied.

"Your friend Steve attacked me last night"

Maric's eyes widened in surprise and Sharron only looked up slightly showing her surprise.

"I'm sure he suspects that I know where you are hiding and he's looking for me to verify his suspicions"

Maric's eyes turned cold and his malice grew but this only lasted a moment and the coldness left them and the malice in them lessened.

"Are you looking for protection?" Maric asked and Adryan shook his head.

"I can defend myself, if I escape from him once I can do it again. I only came here to let you know that it is very possible that he will receive reinforcements soon"

"We already know that" Sharron replied calmly.

"Maybe you have 2 or 3 months before you are discovered."

Sharron again nodded and Adryan sighed.

'It seems they have it under control for now. But maybe that will change soon, I remember they needed money in Klein's story, that's why Sharron accepted the protection job' Adryan thought seriously.

"I'll only come here a few more times to avoid bringing too much attention, if you need help next time I come I'll give you a method to contact me" he said as he put the Burnt Band on his arm.

"Besides, if you plan to attack Steve, count on me, I really liked that house" Adryan said with a smile as he winked at them.

"We'll keep you in mind" Sharron replied with a nod and Maric looked at her.

Adryan didn't say anything else and just walked into the shadows of the room and disappeared in them, leaving the two beyonders alone.

"Why don't we accept his help? Adryan already managed to escape from Steve, that shows that he's capable, and now he's alone with no companions. There's no better time to attack him" Maric asked doubtfully but Sharron shook her head softly.

"It's not the right time yet. If we attack him now, we could bring more trouble upon ourselves" Sharron explained as she disappeared from her place leaving Maric alone.

Maric just sighed as he grabbed his cards and continued his game with the zombies.

He trusted Sharron's judgment.

...

Appearing at the back of the bar, Adryan sighed as he pulled his mask over his face.

"You seem a bit disappointed" Flora said curiously.

"It's nothing, it's just that I expected something more" replied the redhead as he took the letters out of his jacket.

He looked at them for a few moments and a thought came to his head.

'Maybe it's time to get a messenger, that would solve several problems and prevent me from putting Isengard, Maric and Sharron at unnecessary risk... maybe the Old Man too' thought Adryan seriously as he opened the letters.

The first ones that he opened were those with the red seal, since these were those of Glaint.

In total there were two letters from him.

Reading the first one he couldn't help but chuckle.

'It seems that he still can't get the Apothecary formula, even when I told him where to get it' the redhead thought disappointedly.

The next letter from the man had nothing special, he just asked if he knew of another Beyonder gathering where he could try his luck.

Adryan knew of another one but he was not going to tell the nobleman. It was too dangerous for him to attend and he was not willing to try his luck with Mr. A.

The next letter he opened was the one with the yellow seal.

Beneath his mask, his eyes turned cold.

The yellow seal was the way he had told Xio to use to know that the letter was from her.

It seemed that today he would finally get information about those policemen.
