Rose's In Flames Chapter 4

Chapter 4

The greyish clouds, and the black bare trees were all that the eye could see. Saxor thought to himself that this place looks old and haunted. Saxor started to have a bad feeling about coming over in these parts of the woods. He couldn't even see the neighborhood anymore, but at least it was still light outside where everything seemed a little less frightening than if it was in the dark instead. "Do you think we should turn back?" he asked Ivy. Ivy assured to Saxor that she plays here with her siblings all the time, and that everything will be fine.

A few minutes later, everyone in the group suddenly stopped walking again. "What was that sound?" asked Ivy. Snowy and Logan paused to listen, and everyone else followed a moment later. "It sounds like it might be coming from a party," Frost said. Logan followed wherever the sound was coming from, and he noticed a hill that was a little way away from where they were. He ran over to where the hill was as quietly as he could, although there was loud music being blared. You could hear it half a mile away or so, and if you were a dragon, even further. "Logan!" Snowy hissed. "Get away from there! We should probably go! I don't think it's very safe!" Logan didn't hear Snowy trying to warn him, and he ran all of the way to where the hill was. He hurried across the large hill, and sure enough, he discovered that there was a party happening at the old amusement park.

Logan saw that both people and dragons were partying together. He was surprised how many people were there. He noticed a crowd playing beer-pong, and he saw another crowd play spin the bottle, and poker where you take your clothes off if you lose. He noticed that there were some people and dragons cheering about something going on. It looked like two dragons were fighting each other in an old pit. "Oh, my goodness," Logan thought. He noticed that some of the dragons who appeared to have been drinking were climbing on top of old rusty rides that had missing bolts and screws that connected them to the tracks. It looked dangerous whatever it was they were doing.

Logan heard something creep up from behind him, and he made sure to keep his head down in case anybody looked over at his direction. "My mother said this was the place to hang out back then," Snowy said. "Jeez! Snowy! You scared me!" Logan nearly yelled. He nearly had a heart attack, and he thought Snowy was someone else. "I'm sorry, Logan." she said. Snowy peeked over the edge of the hill, and out came Frost and the others from the woods. Snowy turned to Logan and finished what she said to him, "Now look at this place. It's just a bunch of weeds."

Logan sighed. "Well, let's just turn back," he said. "I don't think any of us want to stay here for a moment longer."

Everyone else in the group agreed. Ivy saw that someone was climbing on top of one of the old rides. She observed that it was rusty, and that it would break apart. "Wait, that guy is going to fall," Ivy said, concerned. She saw that a human was being too foolish by climbing up on the rusty ride, but some other dragon saved him first as he pointed out. "Oh, wait someone saved him." Ivy said. Nobody was listening to Ivy. When everyone turned around to leave there was two Light furies who stumbled upon the group, and they were right behind them. They appeared to be drunk.

"Why don't you guys join us?" one said in a slurred speech. The two were constantly trying to hold each other from falling over onto the ground. "The party is just getting started. There's plenty of beer to go around."

Logan and Snowy were old enough to know that they were drunk. Frost sensed that these two were going to cause problems if they didn't leave now. "Listen, we lost our way, we are going to go now, ok?" Frost said. She didn't feel like getting into an argument or a fight if the need to fight arose. One of the Light furies gave Frost a strange look. "You would say no to beer? That's odd." She held a bottle of beer to her lips, and she started sipping it down.

"We were just leaving," Logan said. He tried to brush by them, but one of them stopped Logan with her tail. "Wait, d-don't go," she said. She fumbled onto the ground, and Logan watched her for another moment before she picked herself back up.

One of the Light furies handed him a beer. Logan knew that Snowy and Ivy forgot to obey their mother's directions. He knew they might be in big trouble.

"No thanks, I don't drink," Logan said. Logan gave the beer back to them.

"Oh, you guys must be college students, huh?" one of them said. "Well, uh there's p-plenty of girls to choose around h-human,"

At this point, Logan had enough of being stuck around here with these dragons. He tried pushing his way out of there. But one of them roped him back in with her tail.

"Let me leave!" Logan yelled. The drunk Light fury didn't care about what she was doing to Logan.

He squirmed and, Snowy needed to help him out by pulling Logan close to her while coiling around on his arm with her tail.

"What is happening?" Saxor asked. He watched what was going on, and he moved out of the way, but he wasn't moving fast enough. Ivy decided that she had enough being here too, and she pushed Saxor to move along. "Saxor! Come on! Your being too slow!" complained Ivy.

Frost wanted to take action by grabbing the same arm that Snowy was pulling. The two drunk Light furies tried tugging on his other arm. Logan couldn't defend himself, and he felt like he might be ripped apart.

"Oh! You're hurting me!" he cried. Snowy had no choice but to let go of Logan and hit one of them across the face. She let's go of Logan's arm with her tail, leaving Frost to help pull on him, and she smacked one of them across the head.

The one Snowy hit across the face fell over down the hill. The other went after her friend.

"Let's get out of here!" Frost said.

Everyone turned around and started running. Saxor and Ivy were the first one's out of there, and they ran as fast and as hard as possible to get away from that party as far as possible. Logan was lagging behind, and Snowy dipped her muzzle between Logan's legs causing him to fall onto Snowy's back. Frost noticed that a few of the Light furies who were at the party were running after them! "Guys! Look!" Frost pointed out. Everyone looked behind them, and Snowy was surprised at how quick they were chasing them. "Run! Faster! Faster!" Ivy cried. Everyone ran past trees and thorny thickets but, they were all relieved to have made it back to Snowy's neighborhood.

Everyone stopped running as soon as they made it to Snowy's front door. The Light furies from the party looked like they weren't slowing down. They wanted to confront them now and it looked like they weren't going to do so in a professional manner either.

Logan looked behind him, and he quickly knocked on the front door and, Gwendolyn answered the door to greet them.

"You guys are quite early," Gwendolyn said. Gwendolyn peered beyond Logan, and she saw the Light furies come from out of the woods. "Get inside," said Gwendolyn, firmly. She quickly concluded that something must have happened when all of them were in the woods. Gwendolyn caught a whiff of what Logan smelled like. "Alcohol," Gwendolyn thought. "And they must be from the abandoned amusement park." As soon as everyone went inside, Gwendolyn instructed them to go to the back of the house before confronting the Light furies who followed the group home.

"Is there an issue, ladies?" said Gwendolyn. One of them went on a rant about what Snowy had done to her friend, and she said that her friend didn't mean to tug on Logan's arm as hard as she did.

"Nope, I don't want to hear any of that talk. Your friend hurt my daughter's friend, and I assume you drunkards started this whole thing. Now, do I have to contact the police so we could discuss this manner and get this resolved?"

All three of the light furies grumbled, and they flew away to wherever they were going to go to.

Gwendolyn sighed and she walked back into the house.

"What did I say about all of you guys getting close to the old amusement park?"

Snowy and everyone else were in the kitchen when Gwendolyn confronted all of them. "Mom, we're sorry, but we didn't know that we were that close to the old park. We're sorry," Snowy said.

Gwendolyn looked at Snowy and, she sighed. "Don't do that ever again," she said, "I don't want you guys having to bear the brunt of those gangs. Those guys are trouble."

"Can I stay with you guys for a while?" Saxor whispered to Ivy.

"Yes, you can, Saxor," Ivy replied.

Gwendolyn headed towards the kitchen. "Logan, could you come over here, please?" asked Gwendolyn. She planned to start dinner about an hour from now, so she figured she could talk to Logan, and get to know him more.

Saxor and Ivy headed towards Ivy's room. Frost and Snowy headed towards Snowy's room as Logan went into the kitchen to speak with Gwendolyn.

"So, how was your trip to the woods?" Gwendolyn said, clearing her throat.

Logan began to speak, and he hesitated for a second before giving Gwendolyn a summary of his version of events that happened. "Before I found out about that part that was going on with the whole abandoned park thing, everything was great. I enjoyed being with everyone else," he said.

Gwendolyn secretly smiled to herself. "Oh?"

She looked at Logan's arm, and she noticed it was red. "So, I heard that one of them kept tugging on your arm?" she said. Gwendolyn observed Logan's arm, and she turned it ever so slightly. Logan winced. "I'm sorry,"

She inspected and thought that his arm should be okay. "I believe it might be overstretched, but you should be fine by tomorrow,"

Gwendolyn saw that Snowy was coming back to join her mother. Frost was still up in Snowy's room. She turned to her daughter and said, "Your friend is always welcome here." That made Logan want to smile. He was surprised that Gwendolyn was ready to accept him into her home so quickly, even despite last night's conversation with her, and how stern she was with him.

Snowy and Logan sat at the table.

Gwendolyn joined up with them and, she laid her paws spread out on the table.

"Logan, could you leave us for a few minutes? There's something I'd like to say to Snowy."

Logan nodded. "Of course," he said.

Frost headed upstairs and, Gwendolyn looked at her daughter. "Snowy. I love you, but I want you to be serious when I ask you this question,"

She took a deep breath, and she felt her heart skip a beat when she asked, "You love him, don't you?" Gwendolyn said.

Snowy giggled. "Yes, mom, I do," she replied. Snowy twitched her nose, "I love Logan very much."

Gwendolyn remembered something from her past that resembled a moment such as this one that she had with her mother. But, Gwendolyn wasn't like her mom, and her reaction was completely different from what her mom's reaction was, Snowy's grandmother, Rose.

Gwendolyn rests her paws on Snowy's. "I'm happy for you, Snowy. You have my full support. But I am curious, have you ever thought about him becoming your boyfriend?"

"Mom!" Snowy said. Snowy hoped that nobody heard what her mother asked. "Please, don't embarrass me."

"I'm sorry, Snowy. It's just that I want to know all of the details." said Gwendolyn. She snickered quietly.

Snowy began telling her mom some details about what her life was like being with Logan. As soon as Snowy was done speaking about what she felt about Logan, Gwendolyn told Snowy a story about how she went through the same thing Snowy is going through but many years ago when Gwendolyn was Snowy's age.

"What happened to him? Why didn't you marry him?" Snowy asked.

Gwendolyn sighed. "We can save that for another time, dear. It was the 1980s. It was so long ago," Gwendolyn pressed her paw against her face. A part of Gwendolyn regretted sharing this story with Snowy. The only time when Gwendolyn told her story about her past loved one from when she was Snowy's age was to her husband, Asher. Only Asher is the other one that knows out of the whole family. "We can talk about this later," Gwendolyn said.

She always liked talking about boys with Snowy. It made Gwendolyn feel younger again and when she participated in gossip groups when she was younger. Although now she regrets ever going to those gossip groups simply because it's wrong to talk about others in a negative way. But it was a great source of information about certain boys those female dragons would like.

Snowy looked at Logan, and he was holding his wallet in his hand.

"I have some money, and I want to take us all out to dinner! Logan exclaimed.

Snowy was a bit taken back by that herself. She watched him come down the stairs.

Logan headed into Gwendolyn's kitchen and, he sat down.

Gwendolyn hid in her paws for a few seconds. Even though she's already married, she thought Logan was a very adorable human as well. Gwendolyn was surprised that a thought like that could ever occur in her head. She didn't even think for a second that she would say that about another human, but deep down she knew she would be close to Logan in the future.

"Um, Gwendolyn, I have four hundred dollars. I was wondering if we can all go out to eat?" Logan said.

"I'm flattered, Logan. Really," Gwendolyn spoke softly, "If you want to,"

Snowy tapped on Logan's back and, she said that she'd love to go out with him. Logan said he wanted to invite Snowy's entire family to go out to eat. He had enough money.

"You can pick the place, guys. But make sure it's a place where I can afford it with four hundred dollars." Logan said nervously.

Gwendolyn and Snowy understood. They were both very flattered that a human had asked them all out to dinner. Gwendolyn called her children to come downstairs.

"Alright, kids, get ready. Logan here invited us all out to dinner. His treat."

Snowy's siblings were very excited and, they began to get ready to head out.

Snowy left the kitchen and, she waited at the front door. Logan was just about to leave but, Gwendolyn called him back to her.

She whispers into his ear, "Thank you again. I like the fact that you are such a gentleman towards my daughter,"

Logan chuckled. "It's a pleasure, I like being in Snowy's presence, but I'm not doing this to buy you guys. I'm doing this because I like you guys. I think it's pretty cool to be hanging out with dragons after what happened today."

Gwendolyn surprised Logan with a quick peck on the cheek. Logan blushed a bit and, he was surprised. "Oh, don't be surprised dear. It's a custom between Dragons," Gwendolyn said softly. She was flirting with Logan for a little bit.

Another popular custom between Dragons is that it is a custom for the mother of a female dragon to kiss and flirt with a human in love with her daughter on rare circumstances. It is a widely held practice in cases like these. So, there was nothing wrong here. It's okay for the mother to do it even if she's already married.

Snowy suggested that Logan should take them to a restaurant called Scalies. A popular restaurant for Dragons. It is widely known for its delicious fish buffets. Scalies is also widely known for its wide variety of foreign drinks, and fancy décor. It's popular but expensive place for Dragons to dine with their friends and have a relaxing time away from work and just life in general.

Logan heard about Scalies before. He's never actually been there though but, maybe tonight he should try it. "Alright, let's go there," he said.

Everyone was excited and so was Gwendolyn. Frost had the idea of walking beside Logan so she could be closer to him. This time with Frost, Snowy wasn't paying attention because they were in the back. "Thanks for taking us here," Frost whispered. She whispered into Logan's ear, and she nuzzled his neck for a moment.

Saxor and Ivy were talking to each other about school.

Rico and Suri were speaking to each other about a game they played together.

Snowy was walking beside Gwendolyn.

As soon as they walked up to the door at Scalies, they put in a reservation. The wait was for an hour.

They sat in the lobby and decided to wait.
