Chapter 30

Rae Holand

"I was just passing by. Don't worry about me." Siegfried saw that girl was afraid of him and didn't want to bother her further.

"W-wait! Are you going to leave like that?" She started to follow him as he walked.

"I saw how scared you were after seeing me. I didn't think you would be comfortable if I stayed to talk."

"Of course I was scared! You appeared out of nowhere and punched those guys!" She put more emphasis on her words with hand gestures.

Siegfried found her behavior amusing. "I see…I suppose is normal to get scared in those situations."

"Do you know who you beat?" She asked.

"No" Siegfried answered dryly.

"Those two work for a famous senior! Lucius Avery. He is a very nasty guy, but also the heir of a medium-tier noble family with ties to even more influential families!." She exclaimed.

"And I should care about this, because?"

"Because!" She shouted. "Avery could come to cause trouble for you now!" The girl said.

"They don't know who I am, do they?" Siegfried wasn't really worried about some spoiled brat coming after him.

The girl brought a finger to her chin and pondered for a moment. "I suppose…" She then looked at Siegfried's bright red hair. "You do have some very flashy hair…they may recognize that."

Siegfried just shrugged at her worries and continued walking.

The girl seemed to struggle a bit to follow his walking pace but did not complain. "Are you not going to ask for my name at least?"

"Of course, where are my manners? I am Siegfried Lancaster. And who would you be?" He asked very politely.

The girl smiled with satisfaction. "That's better. I am Rae Holand. I'm from a low-tier noble family….wait…did you say that you are Siegfried Lancaster?"

"That's correct. Why?"

"Why?" Rae got excited. "You are from the elite class!."

"You are making it sound like I am famous or something." Siegfried did not understand why someone would get so excited just to meet someone from a different class.

"Everyone in the elite class is famous! You know… we all want to be in that class. But you are particularly famous, because…ohh" She then covered her mouth after realizing she said something that she shouldn't.

"You mean those rumors about me? I have heard them. They think I cheated on my entrance test." He did not pay attention to them.

"You heard that, huh?...well ignore those idiots!" She patted him on the back.

"We have arrived." Siegfried said after stoping.

Rae was not paying any attention to where they were going and she was just following Siegfried.

"This is the female wing or the dorms! Why did you come here?."

Siegfried rose an eyebrow.

'This girl is not very bright.' He kept those thoughts to himself.

"Isn't here where your room is?"

"Ah!" She then realized. "You were escorting me to my room?"

Siegfried turned around. "Goodnight, Miss Holand."

"Wait!" She called, but Siegfried kept walking. "What a gentleman…" She said softly.

Once back in his room, Siegfried got cleaned up and started to meditate.

His cultivation was going well. He was still in the second rank, energy gathering (mana gathering). Despite its great speed, it would still take many months to reach the next rank.

But what Siegfried was wondering now was, how compatible was his cultivation technique to become a Magus.

If He follows his previous path, He will find a wall after reaching the core formation rank, since that was how far he got the last time.

"The road of a Magus can take me much further than that. This technique that was gifted by the phoenix seems to be compatible with the ways of the Magus, so I should have no problems reaching the required cultivation to become a rank1 Magus. But I will not abandon the way of the warrior either. My ancestors passed their knowledge to me and I spent decades practicing and refining my martial arts. What I need to do is to find a way to combine the two."

This wasn't a new concept either. Families like the Garrets, Vance, and Castel have created martial techniques that take advantage of elemental mana to enhance their destructive capabilities.

"I don't have a family legacy that I can use for that. So I will have to create my own. I already know a method that uses yang energy(fire mana) to temporarily increase my strength and speed, so that is a

start…Let's see…"

Siegfried will spend most of the night pondering this issue.

During the next week, Siegfried did not do much socializing. He would go to do some physical training in the morning, then attend classes.

After class, He will sometimes visit the library or the arena for afternoon training.

Edward will sometimes accompany him to the library, but never to the arena. The mere idea of sweating seems very unpleasant to him.

He has seen Rae Holand a few times but she tried her best to pretend that they didn't know each other.

Siegfried had laughed at her poor acting skills. It was obvious that she was trying to protect him from Lucius Avery's wrath by avoiding associating with him.

He hadn't seen those two guys he beat up, so she seemed to be fine for now. Siegfried decided not to press the issue by talking to her.

'If she needs any help…well see.'

He knows how these young lords think and there was no way that Avery was just going to give up on her.

During a cold night of the next period of rest, Siegfried was laying on his bed, reading a book, when He heard a knock on the door.

"That's odd." The dormitories for the elite class were separated from the rest, so people would very rarely knock on his door.

'Must be Edward, He is the only one who could bother me at this hour'

Siegfried opened the door, expecting to find his odd friend, instead, He found an unkonw girl with long black hair.

"Please, help me!" She said.
