Chapter 2: "A Daughter's Love"

a deep breath, trying to steady her nerves. "Well, as I mentioned, I recently moved here from California. I grew up in a small town, but I've always been drawn to the excitement of the big city," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.

"And what brings you to New York?" Jack asked, his blue eyes twinkling with amusement.

"I'm an artist, and I'm hoping to make a name for myself in the art scene here," Emma replied, her heart racing as Jack leaned forward, his gaze fixed on hers.

"An artist, huh? I'm intrigued," he said, a hint of a smile playing on his lips.

They talked for a while longer, with Jack asking her about her art, her life and her goals. Emma felt her nerves slowly dissipating as they talked, and she found herself laughing and flirting with him easily.

But as the meeting came to an end, Emma couldn't help but feel a twinge of disappointment. She had been expecting something more to happen between them, something more than just a casual conversation.

"I had a great time getting to know you, Emma," Jack said, standing up to walk her to the door. "I hope we can do this again soon."

"I'd like that," Emma said, her heart fluttering as Jack leaned in and brushed his lips against hers in a soft, lingering kiss.

As she walked out of the penthouse office, Emma couldn't help but feel excited and a little bit nervous about what the future held for her and Jack. But one thing was for certain, she couldn't wait to see where this unexpected attraction would lead.
