Chapter 32

I'm so dazed from the adrenaline in my system that I crash right into someone. My phone and keys hit the floor with a jingle and a bang that sets my heart racing. I'm just about to apologize when I feel his powerful arms catch me.

I look up into his eyes, burning like hot coals. His face tentacles flow around his head like he's underwater. Like the little mermaid, but a guy with tentacles.

It almost makes me giggle.

The suckers of his hands grab hold of me as his fingers wrap around my arms. It feels like a hundred tiny kisses spreading across my skin.

"Are you all right?" he asks. He actually looks a little worried.

No, I'm not. My boss just threatened to get me killed. Oh, and I'm an undercover cop.
