What Is At Stake

Before it could lay those vicious long hands on him, Cassian took his hand to the back waist of his trouser, bringing out the mirror he had successfully grabbed from the table earlier. He pointed it at the creature's face, showing it its own horrid reflection, and to Madeline's surprise, the creature immediately halted.

Upon seeing its own reflection in the mirror, a loud shriek escaped its mouth like the sound of a banshee, and to Madeline's awe, the creature was instantly swallowed into the glass of the mirror before it could think of escaping. She watched as Cassian slammed the mirror to the ground, shattering the glass into pieces. 

Tiny black soot escaped from the broken glasses before vanishing completely into thin air.
