Chapter 31: Uncomfortable Introductions

Tracking Scott’s favorite human was the easy part. Wilbur could practically smell the human on Scott when they’d ‘bumped’ into each other. And while Wilbur was happy to outright stalk after the human, he also refused to put too much of a target on his back.

It would be too easy for Scott to connect the dots; Wilbur comes into town shortly after humans start talking about the ‘rabid wolf attacks’ and shortly afterward he runs into Scott. They chat in some pathetic attempt to rekindle the friendship they had as pups, though Wilbur knew Scott wasn’t really trying. And not long after, Scott spots Wilbur trying to track down his human. It’s too much of a coincidence for any wolf shifter to ignore.

‘Humans are easily fascinated by us,’ Wilbur thought as he moved through the heavy flow of people on the streets.

He could feel the eyes that lingered on him, and Wilbur found himself wondering if Scott dealt with this kind of attention.
