Chapter 026 Emotion
After tidying up the things that Halvir wanted to bring on his journey to the Lion Kingdom the next day, Halvir immediately took Anindira to meet the village chief.
''Kak Halvir, how many children does the village chief have?'' Anindira asked on the way to the village head's house.
''Eight.''
''Wow, a lot...''
''Yes, quite a lot. For someone his age...''
''How old is the village chief?''
''Ninety-seven.''
''Oops, that means I asked the wrong question!'' Anindira exclaimed in surprise, ''I should ask how many grandchildren he has?'' Anindira added with a chuckle.
''None. He doesn't have any grandchildren yet.''
Halvir always seriously answered Anindira's every curiosity with his flat expression.
''Um, I see. So, is the girl you said the same age as me, his youngest child?!''
Halvir nodded in response to Anindira's question.
''Oh!'' Anindira exclaimed while nodding, ''Kak Halvir, what's the name of the chief's daughter?''
''Zia.''
''What is she like?''
Anindira tried to stay calm when the conversation started to talk about Zia. A name that Halvir often mentioned on several occasions. Anindira felt curious because there was an uncomfortable feeling, but she didn't want it to be seen by Halvir.
''A woman who talks a lot. Her behavior is also similar to yours, although her speaking style is more curt than yours,'' Halvir answered flatly and straightforwardly.
''She's beautiful?!''
Halvir nodded again in response to Anindira's question.
''Is she attractive?''
''Yes,'' Halvir answered firmly and calmly, ''Not many women have a character like her. That's why I always say that you look like her.''
''Kak Halvir likes her?''
Her eyes looked at Halvir with a probing gaze. Her voice sounded like it was pressing her tone when asking about personal matters. She felt annoyed without being able to describe it. She felt something was bothering her that made her feel tight in her chest.
''Yes,'' Halvir answered with his arrogant, flat face.
Anindira asked seriously and Halvir could feel it, but Halvir ignored it because he thought it was just Anindira's curiosity.
Anindira's eyes widened in response to Halvir's words. Blood seemed to rise to her brain to hold back the emotion that suddenly surged in her chest.
Halvir, who was carrying Anindira, of course, immediately responded. The change in Anindira's body temperature was the first thing he felt, followed by the sound of Anindira's heartbeat, which was getting faster.
The rapid change in the unusual aura shown by Anindira made Halvir abandon his intention to act indifferent.
''What's wrong?'' Halvir asked as his footsteps stopped.
''What?!'' Anindira replied flatly, trying to hide her annoyance.
''Your emotions changed...''
''How did Kak Halvir know?!''
''Of course I know, it's about you!''
Halvir, who looked up, looked at Anindira with a probing gaze. Then Anindira, who looked down, looked at Halvir with a sullen face. Both of them were silent, struggling with their own prejudices.
''Don't give me empty hopes, please...''
''What's empty hopes?!'' Halvir shouted in a high tone because he felt offended, ''What do you mean?''
''If you already like someone else, then focus on them!'' Anindira shouted at Halvir, but in her heart said something else, ''Dira, why are you like that?! What's wrong with you, why do you have to be mad at him?!'' her brain and heart were not in line again, ''Don't busy yourself by giving me more attention!'' Anindira exclaimed, continuing to complain with a raised voice. She seemed to ignore the warning in her brain, ''Dira is stupid, what did he do wrong that you complained to him?! You are a poor child who was picked up by him on the street. It is humane if he is nice to you because you are too pitiful to be left alone...'' between what was muttered in her heart and what was said in Aninidra's mouth were not at all in line, ''I could misunderstand then!''
A lot has happened since this morning. It hadn't been long since Anindira calmed down and accepted Halvir's decision to leave. Now Anindira is back with her tantrum attitude. There are many considerations that bother Halvir until he is stunned to see how emotional Anindira is.
''Are you angry?'' Halvir asked back without taking his eyes off Anindira.
''When was I angry?''
Anindira answered Halvir while continuing to challenge Halvir's gaze.
Anindira wanted to deny what Halvir said, but her heartbeat could not lie, let alone Halvir, even Anindira herself almost heard it.
''Now!'' Halvir exclaimed firmly, ''You are angry right now!'' Halvir exclaimed again, he repeated it loudly.
''No,'' Anindira immediately answered Halvir with a challenging face, ''Where am I angry?... Is there anything I should be angry at?!''
''I don't know,'' Halvir replied firmly, ''But I know you're angry now.''
''Why should Kak Halvir care about that?!''
''Of course I should!''
''That's not necessary. Kak Halvir should just think about Zia. Poor Zia if Kak Halvir acts like this...''
''What does Zia have to do with this?!'' Halvir said in a high voice, but he suddenly fell silent as if suddenly remembering something.
''Dira, you're angry now...''
Halvir deliberately provoked Anindira. He wanted to emphasize something that she had guessed.
''I'm not angry!'' Anindira said in an annoyed tone.
''Yes!'' Halvir exclaimed, nodding, ''You're angry... Now!... Here!... Just now... Even your heart is very noisy,'' Halvir continued to answer firmly.
Anindira reflexively covered her chest with both hands when she heard Halvir's words. Instantly she realized that her thoughts and words had been chaotic all this time.
''I messed up... Stupid Dira, how could he not know... is this all because I'm being a hypocrite!'' Anindira complained in her heart because she had just realized something that had been bothering her since earlier, ''No mistake... not only Kak Halvir... but Zia. What did she do wrong that I had to drag her into it... You're a hypocrite Dira!''
Anindira's face could no longer hide her feelings, but this time what was visible was not her jealousy, but her shame.
''Um... Sorry, I'm not angry... That, um...''
Anindira stuttered, confused about what to explain when she herself didn't know what was happening to her. Her heart felt heavy like there was a large rock blocking the way out, but her brain felt very confused.
''You've been angry since we talked about Zia,'' Halvir replied, surprising Anindira, who was looking for a way to escape from this problem.
He reiterated the previous issue to Anindira, by continuing to stare at Anindira, looking for an answer from the look in her eyes.
''Yes, I know!''
Anindira blurted out her answer because she was busy thinking about her annoyance at herself, but she was also annoyed about why there had to be a third person between her and Halvir.
''Is Zia a threat to you?!''
''Why is she a threat?! I don't know her...''
''It's precisely because you don't know her... how many times have you continued to misunderstand me?!''
Halvir reiterated what he and Anindira were thinking. He had gotten a definite answer after confirming Anindira's reaction.
