The day after encountering Orland in the city Chase cooped himself up in his room, skipping breakfast and staying in bed all day. Morgan had come to check on him at some point after noon when he didn't get up for lunch either, only to find Chase face down on his bed.
He’d walked over to the bed, set a tray of food down on the bedside table, and nudged Chase’s shoulder to make sure he was alright.
Chase had rolled over to glare at him and when Morgan asked if he needed space he’d agreed, pressing his face back into the pillow and ending any further attempts at conversation.
They ended up avoiding each other again during the next few days and when Chase worked with Simon next he was still sour about the whole thing. The healer picked up on his bad mood and set their work aside to talk to him without distractions.
“Something’s bothering you,” he stated, gently taking the jar Chase was struggling to open and setting it down.
