Chapter 16

Marvin frowned and looked down lost in thought as both Lily and Death stared at him "... Chief Irons was always a very well-mannered man and a great cop... I can't believe he would do something like draw his weapon at the girls".

Lily hummed "The girls have also found quite a bit of evidence showing that he has some very shady deals with some very odd people plus Morgan and Hope reacted very violently towards him".

Death nodded "That's proof enough that Irons wasn't a good person, the instincts of both girls are very sharp and never wrong when it comes to things like that".

Marvin nodded "Yes I know, it's just hard to believe but then... the chief has been acting strangely after whatever had happened in the Spencer Mansion... perhaps it's related to that, I remember Chris and Jill talking about something to do with Umbrella".

Lily narrowed her eyes "That's the second time this Umbrella is mentioned, Sherry mentioned it as well... makes me think something is going on".

Death nodded "I can't really say much, rules and all but both of you are getting close to what's going on".

Marvin looked up towards Death "I see so Umbrella is involved in all of this but that just leaves more questions than answers, The Umbrella Corporation is supposed to be a cosmetics and pharmaceutical company... just what is going on here?".

Lily hummed "Pharmaceutical you say? Morgan and Hope mentioned that whatever is going on in Raccoon City is viral or something like that, do you think Umbrella might have something to do with that?".

Marvin looked down and thought about it for a few seconds "It's possible... there have been some odd rumors about Umbrella over the years but nothing was ever proven".

Lily nodded "So it's a possibility and I bet that's what Chris is trying to do! I bet he's looking for proof so he's investigating Umbrella! That's why he went to Europe ~".

Marvin nodded "Yes that makes sense, everyone was very confused when he was suddenly gone, I didn't even know what had happened until I checked for Claire and found out that he took a vacation but thinking about it more clearly now, Chris didn't seem like the type to take a vacation like that one".

Death then spoke up "I'm more interested in those strange creatures the girls found".

Lily nodded "Yeah the zombies are one thing since even I've seen some in the Inferi but those wall-crawlers and that big guy were something else entirely".

Marvin frowned "So you haven't seen anything like those creatures before?".

Lily hummed "Well no for the wall-crawlers but the big guy seemed like a troll or even a giant with the way it moved and attacked".

Death nodded "I can at least tell you that both the zombies and the big guys have a soul but not the wall-crawlers".

Marvin looked confused but Lily crossed her arms and hummed "That explains why the zombies burst into flames with Hope's song and why the big guy was mildly annoyed by it".

Marvin nodded "So her song won't work on a wall-crawlers and boy! Was I surprised to see that Hope can turn into a real phoenix! I mean she told me she was one but I didn't expect her to actually be able to turn into one".

Lily and Death giggled at how surprised Marvin seemed to be right now, Death then grinned at him "That's nothing~ you haven't seen anything yet, the girls haven't shown the extent of what they're capable of".

Marvin excitedly smiled knowing that the girls haven't shown what they were really capable of yet and he can't wait to see the moment when they decide to stop holding back.

Lily looked worried "I'm more concerned about Sherry, she has seen some very horrible things so far and unlike Hope, Morgan, Yuzu, and Karin she's just a normal girl... just what is her mother thinking leaving her by herself like that?".

Death nodded "She will be fine, Hope is staying close by to her to make sure she's okay and to protect her plus everyone else is keeping a close eye on her".

Marvin nodded "Yeah, the girls seems to be fully aware that she's a normal human girl so I wouldn't worry to much, I'm sure the girls will take care of her plus Claire is with them and she has a straight head on her shoulders".

Lily nodded "I know, I just have a very bad feeling about Sherry's situation...".

Marvin frowned while Death stayed quiet, she knew what has been happening in this world but she can't really reveal any sort of information to anyone, not even the dead since they can still sometimes communicate with the living.

But she also knew that the girls will take care of Sherry and that Harry is about to get a very big surprise in the future but for now it was best to just keep an eye on the girls.

Speaking of the girls Death noticed that everyone was done resting and eating, so they were getting ready to keep going "Looks like the girls are getting ready to continue".

Both Marvin and Lily turned to look towards the girls and saw that they were cleaning up and getting ready to continue so they decided to leave any conversation for later and watch the girls.

Who knows what sort of things they'll discover in this world and what sort of revelations they will find as they go through the next part of their journey now that they have the keycard they needed.

The girls finished eating and resting for a bit and then got ready to get moving again, Claire turned to the girls and nodded "Let's get going guys first stop the garage parking lot!".

The girls nodded and immediately headed there by running to the rooftop and getting into the elevator that would take them right into the parking lot.

Once there Claire immediately used the keycard and the parking lot gate opened allowing her and the girls to finally leave the Raccoon Police Department.

Morgan grinned and fist pumped "Yay ~we're finally out! This was a whole journey!".

Claire laughed a little at Morgan's statement and nodded "It certainly felt that way too, now we need to find Sherry's mom and get out of the city but where should we look?".

Everyone thought about it for a little bit, Hope who decided to stay in her human form for now decided to speak up "Well let's investigate around a bit, maybe we'll find a way to safely leave the city somehow and we might even find Leon along the way!".

Claire's eyes widen in surprise "Shoot! I completely forgot about Leon! Do you guys think he's okay?"

Yuzu closed her eyes and hummed "I can still sense him..." Yuzu opened her eyes and smiled "He seems to be fine for now so I'm sure he'll catch up to us soon".

Claire sighed in relief "That's good...".

Karin smiled and then nodded "Yes, for now though let's look for Sherry's mom and see about securing a way to leave the city".

Everyone nodded and then all took off running outside, as they ran outside the streets seemed creepy with how quiet they were but the girls looked around for a bit while ignoring the atmosphere until Morgan pointed at a zombie.

The zombie was behind a caged door and was banging on it very aggressively, it seems like it might have been doing that for a while because the door gave out and fell over with the zombies falling on top of the down door.

Hope summoned her gauss pistol and shot at the zombie's head with a simple energy bullet destroying its head, she then looked behind the now dead zombies and found another one walking over to them.

But Yuzu shot through its head with a black reishi arrow and killed it, Morgan looked over where the second zombie walked from and noticed stairs, she then pointed at it "Hmm let's check where this goes".

Everyone nodded and Claire smiled "Well, might as well and see where it takes us" and so the girls ran up the stairs and into a high metal platform that they decided to follow to see where it leads.

After following the long metal platform for a while they finally reached its end and a set of stairs leading down so they immediately ran downstairs, a lone zombie was roaming around down there but Morgan just walk up to it and then grabbed it by the ankle, she then proceeded to slam the zombies down like a rag doll until its head popped.

Claire nervously laugh at seeing Morgan manhandle a zombie like that, meanwhile, Hope looked around and found a small alley behind a trash container.

She hummed a bit and then bent down, she surprised both Sherry and Claire by lifting it and throwing it behind her as if it weighed nothing, Hope then smiled "Let's go guys! There's a small alley here".

The girls then nodded and began to follow the small alley to see where it leads but suddenly a dog began barking at them which caught them by surprise "Kyahhhh!".

Claire held her chest and sighed, while Sherry hid behind her while Karin and Yuzu huffed, Hope frowned and glared at the dog who actually froze in fear.

Morgan glared at the dog as well and then growled at it, who couldn't take it and took off running to get away "Stupid mutt... I'm going to hit Uncle Sirius when we get home".

Karin, Yuzu, and Hope sweatdropped, Hope, shook her head and sighed "And why are you going to hit Uncle Sirius?".

Morgan shrugged "I don't really know why... but a dog of some sort has to pay for that little scare and Uncle Sirius can take it!~".

Sherry and Claire didn't know who Sirius is but they couldn't help but feel bad for him and hoped Morgan forgets to hit him.

In the Potter Household Sirius and Remus were enjoying watching some TV when Sirius suddenly tense up and stood up in a panic "Holy shit! I just felt like someone rode over my grave with a semi-truck!".

Remus raised an eyebrow at the odd statement but then shrugged, if someone was going to do something to Sirius he probably asked for it.

Once the girls calmed down they immediately took off again and followed the alley until they found another cage door, everyone walked up to it but Morgan and Hope suddenly tensed up.

Growling began to echo on the streets they were standing in and suddenly another dog hopped onto the top of a car and then onto the street, the dog growled at the girls and then launched itself forward.

It pounced towards Morgan but she caught it by the throat and frowned "a zombie dog?..." Morgan sighed and then easily snapped the dog's neck killing it.

Morgan drop the now-dead zombie Dog and turned to the girls "Okay, back to high alert everyone, these zombie dogs are fast and we can't afford to let them get too close to Claire or Sherry".

Everyone nodded and turned to look at the dead zombie dog with a frown on their faces, another creature to add to the list of dangers in this city.

Hope looked around for a few seconds before jumping on top of a car and looking around everywhere, she found another zombie dog feeding on a dead body a fair distance away and decided to take care of it now.

She aimed at the dog with her gauss pistol and charged a normal energy shot, she then slowly pulled the trigger and shot a charge shot.

The big energy shot flew straight towards the zombie dog and then crashed against it, the charge shot exploded with the force of a grenade and turned the zombie dog into red mist.

Hope nodded and then looked down at the girls "I don't see any more zombie dogs so let's move fast, I'll keep an eye from above okay?".

Everyone nodded and with a smile on her face, Hope took off flying in order to give the group aerial support.

Sherry looked up in awe "She really can fly!".

Hope looked down and smiled at Sherry, she then used her telekinesis to lift Sherry up to her in the air, at first, Sherry let out a squeak of surprise but then smiled as she saw herself fly up to Hope.

Sherry smiled at Hope "Hope look! I'm flying too!".

Hope giggled and nodded at Sherry "I see, help me keep an eye out for enemies and the girls okay?".

Sherry cheerfully nodded with a bright smile on her face, she was definitely happy to help in any way and the fact that she was flying with Hope made this even better.

Claire looked up and giggled in amusement "I'm kinda jealous of Sherry now but at least she will be safer this way".

Morgan smiled and nodded "Yeah, now let's keep going!".

The girls then began to move feeling safer now that they had someone keeping an eye on them from the sky and so they continued to move through the streets and even a basketball court.

Sherry would point out zombie dogs and zombies to Hope who would shoot them right away with pin point accuracy, way before the girls even got to their positions.

With their way clear Claire and the girls were able to move faster and safer and even if Hope missed some they could easily take them down, they also surprisingly found some ammo on the streets.

It surprised the girls that there were bullets out here but they reasoned that someone must have dropped them or something like that, after a while, they finally arrived at a new place.

While Yuzu signaled Hope and Sherry to come down, Morgan and Claire approached the very colorful door in front of them while Karin kept an eye on out for everyone.

Morgan tilted her head "Is this a kindergarten or something?".

Claire hummed and looked around "... Seems Iike it but I'm not sure...".

Sherry softly landed on the ground and spoke up "It's an orphanage" Hope landed beside Sherry and also looked around.

Claire and Morgan turned their heads towards Sherry and nodded thankful for the Information, Hope hummed "There's something off about this Orphanage...".

Morgan raised an eyebrow and took a closer look at the building, suddenly she felt a small tingle in her spine "Huh?... my instincts are telling me that there's something going on in there...".

Yuzu frowned and tilted her head "Should we check it out?".

Claire crossed her arms and thought about it for a bit "... We might as well, there has to be a reason why Hope's and Morgan's instincts are going off, maybe we'll find more information or even a way out".

Karin then walked up to everyone "You guys think there are any children in there?".

Everyone stayed silent for a few seconds before Claire sighed "God I hope not... that would be awful to see and deal with...".

The girls nodded in agreement, Claire shook her head and then nodded to herself "Well let's see what we find okay?".

The five young girls smiled and nodded letting Claire know that they were ready and so the group walked over to the gate opened it and walked inside.

Once inside the lawn of the Orphanage, Morgan immediately closed the gate and even locked it to make sure no creature could get inside.

After the girls looked around and found nothing but a normal big lawn so they decided to move forward and see what they can find in this Orphanage so they walked towards the entrance.

They soon reached the front doors and Claire slowly opened them while the girls covered her back, as soon as Claire saw that it was clear she stepped inside and the girls followed her in.

Hope closed the door behind them and everyone then looked around, Morgan hummed as she stared at the toys found around the lobby "For an Orphanage, this place doesn't seem too bad, a bit creepy though".

Karin frowned "Yeah... the atmosphere here seems a bit off...".

Yuzu nodded in agreement to her twin's words "Yeah... like something either happened here or is about to happen".

Hope looked around "Well... let's look around and see if we find any kind of clue in here, I can't sense any children so there's that but there's something definitely up with this place".

Claire nodded "Okay then let's begin girls".

Everyone nodded and got ready to begin their small investigation of this place and even though they were following Morgan and Hope's instincts they could also feel like something was up with this place.

So the girls spread around and as always looked around for anything useful, Sherry found a torn diary and gave it to Claire who read it, Claire frowned as she read the complaints of a boy and the mysterious events that had happened in this Orphanage "... Looks like they were hit with whatever happened in the city as well...".

Not finding anything useful they decided to keep moving and headed to a door closed by the first floor which lead to a long hallway, they went through by slowing walking.

At the end of the hallway, they found a room and they went inside, the girls immediately began to look around, and Morgan found another torn diary and frowned as a kid of sorts described the zombie dog attacks and how he had asked for help.

Morgan sighed and sadly shook her head, she then put the torn diary away and began to look around with the rest of the girls, after a while, they didn't find anything special until Karin called out to everyone "Hey guys! I found some sort of manhole!".

The girls immediately gathered around Karin and looked down the manhole, Yuzu hummed and then decided to raise a question "Where do you think it leads ".

Karin shook her head not knowing where it would go, Claire frowned and spoke up "Well there's only one way to find out".

The girls all looked at each other and then nodded, one by one the girls jumped down the Manhole except Claire and Sherry who had to use the ladder instead.

The Hope landed first and then walked forward giving space for Morgan to land next who got out of the way and Yuzu came down as well, she stepped aside and Karin landed next.

The quartet then waited for Sherry and Claire to reach the bottom, as soon as they did they looked around, Claire sighed "Looks like a basement of sorts... stay close guys okay?".

Everyone nodded and then began to move forward, there was a very long passageway that lead to an elevator at the end of it, which made Morgan lift an eyebrow "Why would the basement of an Orphanage have a subterranean elevator?...".

Claire sighed and shook her head "Good question...".

Hope looked at the elevator "Let's see where it goes, this is very suspicious, to begin with so we might as well check it out.

Everyone nodded and stepped inside the elevator and began to ride it down when suddenly something big and heavy landed on top of it surprising everyone as the elevator began to fall down at high speed.

Claire and Sherry screamed in fright, Hope grabbed Sherry and hugged her, she then engulfed them in a psychic barrier while Karin, Yuzu, and Morgan hugged Claire and tried to protect her body as they fell inside the elevator at high speed.

Being stuck inside the elevator didn't give them many options and since the three of them weren't good with barriers or energy shields all they could do is use their body to try to protect Claire.

After a few seconds the elevator crashed and sent everyone flying out of it, Hope saw what it was that had made the elevator crashed and was about to attack it but Sherry pulled her hand and pointed at Claire and the others.

Claire seemed out of it while Yuzu and Karin were recovering from their tumble a fair distance away while Morgan ended crashing against a wall and being driven halfway into it.

Hope frowned knowing that she couldn't fight this monster in this enclosed space with Claire out of it and while protecting Sherry at the same time, the others would be fine but not Sherry and Claire, so she turned her head towards Sherry "We need to lead it away from here, give the girls and Claire some time to recover".

Sherry nodded and then both of them took off running, the creature saw them do so and followed them completely ignoring Claire, Morgan, Yuzu, and Karin.

Hope hoped that she would find a big area where she can fight back or that the girls recover quickly otherwise she would have to use her cosmic flames full force and that could be dangerous.

A woman in a lab coat had heard the crash and went to investigate, she saw a couple of young girls on her hands and knees shaking their heads, they seemed fine so she ignored them.

Then she noticed the body of a little girl halfway through a wall and shook her head thinking she was dead so she ignored her as well but the young woman a fair distance away seemed rather out of it but alive.

So she decided to check up on her and so she walked up to her and began to check her reflexes and her reactions, finding out that she was just mildly out of it because of a bump on her head made her know she was fine so she nodded to herself and began to try and wake her up "Wake up! wake up!".

Claire heard someone telling her to wake up and snap their fingers in front of her so she opened her eyes and began to blink to clear her vision, she saw an unknown woman before her who suddenly flashed her with a flashlight "Open your eyes... hold still...".

Claire looked around from the floor and saw both Yuzu and Karin slowly standing up and shaking their heads, she didn't see Morgan, Hope, or Sherry around so she began to get worried, she then heard to unknown woman mutter about not being infected.

Claire being very worried began to try to get up while calling out the girls she hasn't seen "Morgan...Hope... Sherry!" she sat up while still feeling a bit dizzy "Where's everyone! Where is Sherry!".

Claire was obviously worried about everyone but much more so about Sherry, Hope and Morgan can fight and protect themselves but Sherry was defenseless as she needed to find her.

But suddenly the unknown woman spoke up "Sherry... Sherry's is fine".

Claire stood still feeling a bit dizzy but she heard the unknown woman and decided to ask a question "You know Sherry?".

But that woman ignored her and walked away from Claire while staring at a wall, she began to talk to herself about something that Claire just did not understand "Was an impressive display of strength".

Claire walked up to the woman and noticed she was taking notes "What happened to her?".

But the woman ignored her and suddenly walked over to the side "We have to access the situation".

Claire was beginning to get creeped out but still decided to try questioning the woman "Who are you?... I'm Claire" but the woman was to busy to pay any attention to Claire and then just muttered, "We didn't foresee this...".

Claire sighed and then walked up even closer to the woman "Excuse me where is she?... Hello?".

The woman finally responded back to Claire while Yuzu and Karin walked over to the wall Morgan's body was stuck in "... Oh Annette, tell me what happened to William?".

Claire raised an eyebrow at the unexpected question "I don't know, who... who's that?".

Annette sighed "The creature responsible for this".

Claire frowned as she remember how something very heavy and big had jumped onto the elevator and had made it crash down "What?... Look can you just help me find Sherry, Hope, and Morgan?".

But Annette ignored her and just began to speak to herself again "Seems to be evolving much faster than expected".

Annette then began to walk away which surprised Claire "Where are you going?".

Annette turned around and frowned at Claire "Look, I don't have time to play twenty questions... everything is under control" Claire frowned "I need to find Sherry!".

But Annette suddenly glared at Claire "My daughter is not your concern!" Annette then turned around and walked to a door and opened it, she then stepped inside and closed the door right away.

Claire glared at the door but suddenly there was a roar and Morgan burst out of the wall looking mighty annoyed "I'm going to enjoy punching very hard whoever did this...".

Claire immediately ran to Morgan and hugged "Your okay! I didn't even see you, Morgan! Are you hurt?".

Morgan smiled and hugged Claire "I'm fine, I just slammed against that wall very hard so it left me a bit dizy~ but man... we were completely caught off guard, what happened?".

Karin and Yuzu walked to Claire and Morgan, Yuzu sighed and rubbed her head and winced when she felt a few bumps "Something very big and heavy slammed on top of the elevator and it couldn't handle the weight...".

Karin frowned and rubbed her arm which was slightly bleeding "We dropped down at high-speed for who knows how deep... Hope protected Sherry with a telekinetic barrier but we three didn't have enough time so we hugged Claire to protect her...".

Yuzu sighed and shook her head "We crashed here and bounced around for a bit, then we were sent flying away from Claire... I think she hit her head and Karin and I flew and slammed on the ground".

Claire winced having heard that girls had used their bodies to protect her and she grew worried about them, Morgan sighed and nodded "And I was sent crashing into this wall and drove my body in it huh?... This is not our proudest moment guys".

Morgan, Yuzu, and Karin groaned and look down in shame while small black clouds appeared above their heads and began to rain on their heads, despite finding all of this sort of funny and not understanding how that was possible Claire was far more worried about the girls "You guys need medical attention, your very hurt!".

The girls turned their heads toward Claire and smiled, Karin grinned and then showed Claire her injured arm, Claire watched as the cut on her arm healed really fast "What?".

Yuzu smiled at Claire "As you can see we're fine Claire, we have a very fast healing factor so we'll be fine in a few seconds, we were very hurt a few minutes ago but look at us! We're fine now~".

Morgan grinned at Claire "I'm fine as well Claire, I wasn't really hurt, I'd feel bad about the wall though I completely destroyed it...".

The four of them turned towards the wall and then saw it crumble even further, Claire teared up a bit and then hugged the girls "I'm sorry you guys got hurt trying to protect me...".

The girls hugged Claire back and smiled at her, Yuzu then spoke up "No worries Claire! That's what friends do for each other though getting hurt was on our part too, I should have used Blut to protect myself but everything happened too quickly... looks like I still have a lot to learn".

Karin sighed and nodded in agreement to her twin's statement "Yeah... I should have used my Hierro but I was completely surprised and didn't think about it until later".

Morgan scratched her head "Yeah me too... I could have used a number of things but I was so very surprised when we suddenly dropped like that, let's just take this as a lesson and try to avoid it happening again!".

Claire smiled and nodded at the girls, she then let go of them and decided to explain what she found out "So I found Sherry's mom but she seemed rather nonchalant about Sherry...".

Yuzu nodded "Yeah we heard her when we came to check on Morgan... she certainly seemed rather uninterested in Sherry".

Karin frowned "She also called whatever had dropped on top of the elevator William... What's up with that?".

Morgan frowned "... She seems to know what's going on here... for now let's go look for Hope and Sherry, I'm sure Hope will keep Sherry safe but we need to reunite! We can squeeze Sherry's mom for information later!".

Everyone nodded and then got ready to quickly move out, Claire checked her weapons and stuff to make sure they weren't damaged or something, and after that, they walked up to the door Sherry's mom went into and checked inside.

Inside the room they found some ammo and some notes, Claire grabbed the ammo and put it away while Morgan read the notes "G-virus?...".

The girls turned towards Morgan "Looks like they were playing around with some sort mutagent, the creature that jumped on top of us seems to be a creature created from this G-virus... this isn't good that monster has rapid evolution and a healing factor as well plus it's driven by instinct and the desire to reproduce".

The girls frowned, Claire then began to think of the creatures they had faced "Do you think it was that big guy?".

Morgan shook her head and put down the notes "No, sure the big guy was adapting to our attacks rather quickly but he was protected by his clothes... why would you need to protect something so heavily if it has a healing factor? No, I think it's that weird creature we faced before we met Sherry".

The girls widen their eyes in realization, Yuzu then suddenly gasped "Ah! It did seem more human than the rest of the creatures we faced plus it was trying to talk!".

Karin frowned "Tch! That means that it survived its fall and evolved to become stronger and more tough thanks to surviving and adapting to our attacks!".

Everyone frowned, Morgan then shook her head "Doesn't matter, we'll just have to take it up a notch and try to destroy it before it grows stronger, these notes depict that it's evolving at a highly accelerated pace".

Everyone nodded and accepted the fact that they were going to have to put up a bigger fight the next time they see this 'William' but for now they needed to find Hope and Sherry as quickly as possible.

So after looking around a bit and not finding anything useful they left the room, Morgan took a sniff and grinned "I can smell Hope and Sherry!".

Claire giggled "You can smell them? Like a bloodhound?".

Morgan grinned "Even better! A dragon's nose is very powerful! Sherry smells like medicine and flowers! You smell like leather and grease!".

Claire blushed and took a sniff of herself "Do I really? I can't smell anything...".

Yuzu and Karin giggled while Morgan nodded at Claire, the young Redfield then tilted her head "And what do Hope, Yuzu, and Karin smell like?".

Morgan hummed "Karin smells of sweat and dirt!".

"Hey! No I don't!".

But Morgan ignores her and continues on "Yuzu smells likes home cooking".

Yuzu smiled while Karin frowned "Hey! How's that even a smell!".

She was once again ignored while Morgan continued on "And Hope smells like cinnamon and sugar!".

"Oh come on!" poor Karin looked so defeated but it just made Yuzu and Claire laugh while Morgan looked rather smug right now.

Claire then tilted her head "and you Morgan? What do you smell like?".

Morgan shrugged "I don't know, I can't smell myself but you can ask Hope! I'm pretty sure she has my scent memorized~".

Claire smiled and nodded to Morgan "Well then, let's go find them cause I'm very curious!".

All of them smiled and then followed Morgan as she guided them to where Hope and Sherry's scent was coming from, they found another manhole, and all of them jumped down.

They landed on the ground and looked around, it was a very dark passageway so Claire took out her flashlight and turned it on to look around, the girls deciding to hurry followed the passage, and found an entrance to the sewers and a ladder leading down.

The girls looked down and frowned, Claire sighed "Now we're going to smell like shit... literally too".

Karin sighed "Well it's a good thing I can make platforms of reiroku...".
