Chapter 13: Witch on the Move

Selene’s so distracted by the beauty of the forest that she hardly notices Onyx pouting beside her. She’s never been so far away from her home before. Selene’s heart grows lighter with every step she takes, leading her farther away from the only life she’s ever known. To think that only a few days prior to their travels she had been afraid of moving on.

They stop for a rest alongside a stream. Selene’s amazed at how delicious the cold water is. After quenching her thirst, Selene turns around to find Onyx, in his human form, sitting on a pile of rocks on the bank of the stream. His bare skin almost glows in the light of the afternoon sun. Selene thinks about looking away, but she’s never seen a naked man before.
