Summary: You were very good at what you did. Killing bad people was your specialty. However, the man you were just hired to kill didn’t exactly fit your definition of a ‘bad guy’. He’s certainly taken a liking to you, and your night goes a little differently than anticipated.
……………………………………………………
You sipped your drink as your eyes scanned the large crowd of people in the club. You had been there for nearly an hour, your focus mainly on the owner.
Your eyes drifted back over to him and group of people standing around him. When a mysterious man had asked you to kill the devil you agreed. With what the man had been offering to pay, you would have been crazy to refuse the job. However, the more you watched him, the more you heard about him, the less you convinced you became that he was a bad guy. That provided you with your current problem. You only killed bad people, and Lucifer Morningstar, aside from claiming to be the devil, didn’t fit that.
“Staring is very rude darling.”
You were ripped from your thoughts. Lucifer was sitting beside you, smiling widely. Apparently you had been to distracted by your thoughts to notice him approaching you. Your expression remained emotionless as you looked at him.
“Cocky, are we? Who’s to say I was staring at you?” You replied.
“Then I suppose you look at everyone like you wish to murder them?”
“Maybe I do.” You said sarcastically.
Your cold demeanor didn’t seem to bother him, if anything he seemed even more intrigued by you.
“Well then, tell me just what it is you desire.”
You found that you couldn’t look away from his eyes. You struggled with the temptation to answer him, but you couldn’t help yourself.
“I want to see bad people get what they deserve.”
Lucifer looked at you with surprise, as if he wasn’t expecting that to be your answer. You finally found the will to look away from him, and turned your attention back to your drink.
“Is that all? No juicy details? That was rather vague.” Lucifer said.
You shrugged and gave him a small smirk.
“Hypothetically speaking, sometimes I give them what they deserve.”
Lucifer looked at you as if you were the most interesting person in the room.
“So you’re a punisher then?”
“Hypothetically of course.”
You were careful not to incriminate yourself. You weren’t stupid, you knew he worked with the LAPD.
“Of course, and am I to assume someone hired you to get rid of me?”
He didn’t seem angry or even judgemental of that. You smiled as you took a sip of your drink.
“Allegedly.”
Lucifer leaned back in the seat, his eyes studying you like you were a mystery he just had to solve.
“But I’m not going to.” You shrugged.
He smirked, tilting his head in curiosity.
“? Why is that my dear? Have I grown on you?” He teased.
“Hardly, you just don’t seem to be evil to me. There’s no reason for me to go after you.” You said.
Lucifer’s smile faltered and he sat up. You didn’t fail to notice that small hint of vulnerability in his eyes.
“You don’t think I’m evil?”
You didn’t understand why that seemed to be so hard for him to understand.
“No, you might enjoy causing trouble a little too much, but you don’t exactly fit my description of evil. Honestly you seem like a good person to me.”
You stood up, slipping your jacket on. Lucifer sat there, staring at the table.
’.’
The word replayed over and over in his mind. You thought he was good. Lucifer couldn’t seem to grasp that. You saw the conflicted look in his eyes and grabbed his hand. Lucifer’s eyes meant yours.
“It was nice to meet you Mr. Morningstar.” You smiled.
Lucifer watched you walk away, disappearing into the crowd. He glanced down at his hand, where your name and number sat, scribbled on a piece of paper.
