Y/N's POV
I pressed a hand to my forehead as I tried to pay attention in class. All of the facts and information were confusing and complicated, and I was started to get stressed out.
I did my best to take notes on what we were learning before class ended. Once the bell rang, all of the students got up from their desks. I sighed as I made my way outside. Usually, I would've sat in the lunch room with everyone else.
However, it would only be distracting since lunchrooms are extremely loud, and it would hard for me to concentrate on my work. I sat down in a secluded part of the courtyard, and began studying.
The fresh air helped me relax a little bit, and the silence was peaceful. After a little while, I heard the bell go off inside the school. So I stood up, dusted off my clothes, and went inside for the final classes of the day.
The final bell rang, and I sighed heavily. I had felt a little confident with my studying earlier, but my last classes changed my confidence into stress. I packed my things, and left the school.
"Y/N~" Asmo jumped onto me and hugged me. My head throbbed, and I hissed through my teeth. He immediately let go of me.
"Is something wrong? Oh no! Did I hurt you?!"
"No, no you're good. I just have a headache. So please be a little more caref-" I stumbled a little bit, and Asmo stopped me from falling over. I lightly pushed him away.
"Are you sure you can get home alright?"
"Yeah, I'll be fine." I started walking away, trying to look normal. My head was pounding now, and I felt like crying from the pain.
I managed to make it back to the House of Lamentation without falling over. I did stumble a couple of times on the way, but I made it. I went in my room, and grabbed the bottle of headache pills.
I took one out, and quickly downed it with some water. I knew it would take a while before it kicked in, but the thought of the headache going away made me feel a little better already.
Suddenly, my D.D.D vibrated, and I lazily held it out in front of me. My body tensed as I saw who had texted me.
I slowly walked down the hallway, which was eerily silent. As if the air itself knew what I was about to experience before I did. When I arrived at Lucifer's bedroom door, I raised my hand, and softly knocked on the door.
A muffled "come in" came from the other side, and I took a deep breath before opening the door. Lucifer was at his desk, and he was reading over some papers that were in his gloved hand.
"D-Did you need something?" I swallowed as Lucifer silently handed me the papers he was holding, and I took them from him.
My blood turned cold as I scanned over the papers. I could feel Lucifer's red eyes burning a hole through me, as if he was waiting for an explanation.
"Your grades have gone down."
"I-I..." My mind was drawing a blank. All of the time I had spent studying seemed to be for nothing. I felt multiple emotions coursing through me, and I couldn't pinpoint one.
"Since you've apparently been slacking in your studies, you're going to have some sort of punishment."
"I-I've....been trying..." My voice was a little shaky. Lucifer huffed as he took the papers from me.
"Clearly, you haven't. So quit trying to make excu-"
"I'm not making excuses!" I yelled out. My anger and sadness were taking over, and I couldn't control it anymore. I wasn't going to get punished for something out of my control.
"Then explain why your grades went down! It should be simple enough to keep your grades up."
"Maybe for a demon! I'm only human, so excuse me for not understanding things that demons already know! Sorry for being a stupid human who doesn't know jack shit about demons!
And I would count skipping meals to study trying hard enough! But I guess I need to starve myself in order to prove that I'm trying!" I turned on my heel, and stormed out of Lucifer's room.
On the way out, I slammed his door shut. Tears started running down my cheeks as I started to walk through the halls aimlessly, not really caring about where I ended up.
By the time I looked around to see where I was, I noticed that I was in the underground tomb. How I got there without looking was beyond me. Loud footsteps started approaching me, and I froze where I was.
The three-headed dog came in the room, and his growling was enough to shake the walls themselves. He slowly approached me, and my body was trembling as I prepared for the worst.
However, he stopped a few feet away from me, and he let out a whine. It was almost like he could sense my feelings. Like he was trying to show me sympathy. He laid down with a loud thud, and I slowly raised my hand up, and softly stroked his middle head.
He raised his head up, and licked my hand, covering the entire thing with dog slobber. I chuckled through my tears as I shook off the substance, and I laid down next to him. I didn't really care if the floor was covered in dog hair.
"Thanks Cerby. You don't mind if I call you that, right?" His left head looked at me in confusion, and I just shrugged. I wiped away some tears as I snuggled against the giant dog.
3rd POV
Lucifer was left in shock by Y/N's words. She was right. She was a human. How could he be so inconsiderate of how hard it was to be in her position?
He got up from his desk, and decided to go looking for the human. He noticed that Asmo was in the hallway, and he looked confused.
"Hey Lucifer, is Beel around? I just heard a loud grumbling noise." Lucifer raised an eyebrow. He hadn't seen Beel or heard him.
"I haven't seen him."
"Then what the Devildom was that noise?" Asmo asked. It only took Lucifer a couple of seconds to realize what this meant.
"It's probably Cerberus then. Perhaps he's hungry." Lucifer sighed as he started walking to the tomb. He was going to have to wait to find Y/N.
A hungry Cerberus was a dangerous Cerberus. When he got down to the tomb, he didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. Cerberus was just laying down on the ground.
But then he noticed that Cerberus wasn't running over to him like he usually does. The hellhound simply glanced at Lucifer before looking back at something else.
The Avatar of Pride walked over to where Cerberus was, and looked at what he was looking at. To his surprise, Y/N was laying down, and she was trembling. Lucifer could hear her soft sniffles.
"....w-what do you want?" She didn't have to look at him to know who it was. After all, Lucifer was the only one who comes down here. Besides Beel on occasion when he's bribed to come groom the large dog.
"I wanted to apologize for getting angry at you. I understand that it's not easy for you to keep up with your classes. Do you forgive me?" Y/N slowly turned around, and he noticed how puffy and red her eyes were.
".........y-yes..." She slowly stood up, and hugged Lucifer. He could feel her still trembling. He lifted up her chin, and wiped away her tears.
"I'm surprised Cerberus didn't do anything to you. He's usually pretty feisty." At the mention of his name, Cerberus walked over to the two of them, with his large tail wagging.
"That's because I'm different. Right, Cerby?" He barked enthusiastically at his new nickname. Lucifer was in awe that he even responded to that name.
"Indeed you are."
