4.13 Theatrics of Concern

When the food arrived, Minglan suggested to Cass, "You should take a seat."

Cass eyed the empty chair next to Shaoren and then glanced at Shaotian, saying, "I don't want to sit next to Ren. You don't mind if I stay on your lap, do you?"

Shaotian smiled upon seeing Shaoren narrow his eyes. He tightened his hold on Cass, assuring, "Not at all." Cass grinned. Shaotian signaled the maid, who brought the plate and cutlery next to his. Shaoren, noticing Minglan's anger, exchanged glances with her.

Minglan began eating, but her focus wavered when she saw Cass feeding Shaotian. Shaotian willingly accepted, causing Minglan's eyes to darken with displeasure.
