Chapter 59

Ormr’s eyes flickered between brown and silver, narrowing at Ryuu in a way that warned him about his tone of voice. Ormr leaned over and picked up the envelope, peering inside of it. He slid the picture out and a frown formed on his face as he looked down at it.

Ryuu closed his eyes, already able to see what was in the picture without looking at it again. He swallowed thickly, trying to keep his tears away. “We got that two days after she was taken. Today actually marks eight days since she was taken.”

Understanding and horror filled Ormr’s face as he lifted his eyes to Ryuu’s. “This… this is your mate?”

Ryuu nodded, opening his eyes to meet his father’s. “It is.”

Ormr was quiet for a moment, still studying the photo. Crea adjusted how he was sitting, putting his bookmark in the pages.
