Makai pauses to take another deep breath before confessing, "I love you, Storm. I love you so much that it hurts. I have loved you for as long as I can remember, and admitting it, even to myself, is the scariest thing I've ever done."

He dropped all his guard as he told me, so I feel the staggering emotion in him through our bond, and it leaves me reeling, staring at him in shock. "Wha- what?"

He gives me a half smile. "I have been so afraid of saying it out loud, but now that I've said it, it's really not so bad."

When I open my mouth again he shakes his head. "Please, let me finish, okay? I need to let it out before I lose my nerve."

I nod for him to continue.

"I don't remember when I fell in love with you, but one day you were at my place watching one of those human movies that you enjoy so much, and it just struck me how much I wished you never had to go home. I wanted you to stay and be with me always. I mean, I always hated it when you had to go-"
