Varya had been standing at the door with her ear close to it while occasionally checking behind her to see if her child was still sleeping. After Ebari had gone to see who was out there, she hadn't heard anything else and worry was starting to well up inside of her.
Suddenly, she heard a knock on her door and Ebari's smooth voice.
"Varya, it's me," he said. "Please open up."
She did as she was told and when the door was fully opened, she gave Ebari a confused expression.
"What happened?"
All Ebari did was step backward and glance toward one of the beige couches in the main area where Galen was sitting.
"What is he doing here?" Varya asked.
Without waiting for an answer, she immediately went to the guard who was sitting on Ebari's couch looking defeated. His elbows were resting on his knees and his chin was dropped down towards his chest.
"Can someone please tell me what's going on?"
She looked between Ebari and Galen, waiting for an answer.
