Arriving at the sea

Riding the carriage I see a decent sized town emerging from beyond the horizon, during my travels with the merchants I learned it's a port town. Mostly self sustained and the they usually get food from fishing, it took us 2 weeks to get here. As I though having an organized group really is better.

During this two weeks I changed my destination from a city to this small town, I have multiple reasons for it, one is that it will be harder to get found here. I intend to stay by the sea for cultivating my water pen martial soul.

Kind of a waste not to leave it for cultivation till I have a higher limit, but honestly it doesn't matter that much in the grand scale of things. As long as I don't choose too low level spirit rings it may even bring me more benefits.

This town is also the last stop for my companions, they will head straight for the city after this. As I was thinking all of this, we were getting closer and closer to the city. In about 20 minutes we were already there and everyone already stopped moving.

"Thanks for the ride" I tell to the driver before leaving the carriage.

"It's no problem at all" He said with a smile as I was leaving.

After getting out of the carriage I started looking for the leader of this group again, I decided that after 2 weeks of travelling together it would be better if I said goodbye. If I didn't that would seem rude after all, wouldn't it?

I quickly found him after a few seconds, he is the leader so it would be bad if he was hard to find, I stroll up to him and start talking.

"Hey mister, just wanted to say bye, and thanks for getting me up to here" I tell him

"I'm a man of my word, I said I will take you with us so I will. You paid as well so there you go" He says.

"Is that so? Well I will have to go now there is a lot of things I have to do here, and the faster I get to it the better" I wave my hand at him and leave.

AS I finished talking to the man I headed deeper into the town, I didn't lie when I said there is a lot of things to do. First things first I'm looking for a place to stay, everything else is for later. I stroll around looking everywhere I can to find a place, of course I'm sticking to places full of people.

I found 3 places already but all of them were full, I guess unlike the previous place this one is a fully fledged town. Only after 2 hours of looking I found a place, it was a pretty cosy Inn maybe even closer to a tavern. But I quite liked it, I even had a meal there and it was great so over all I'm satisfied.

I entered my room after finishing my meal, looking around it seems to be a standard room nothing special about it, since this time I'm staying for a lot of time I'm going to set everything up for myself. Mostly just packing out my things. I put my clothes in the wardrobe etc. I'm not going to bore you with it all you need to know is that it took me 25 minutes to finish.

"I should go look for work now, it's better to start as early as I can. I might not find one today after all"

Indeed, I'm still a kid after all, there is a chance no one would want to hire me because of that fact. Well bad attitude won't fix my problem to its time to start working. I quickly leave my room and close the door behind me.

I went out back onto the streets, looking around I see small crowds of people walking through the street. Seeing all of this I came to the realization that my mind is completely blank.

'Where do I start even?' I mean you can't blame me I wasn't even in the legal age to start working back in my previous life, and all I did here was cultivating and running away from home. This line of thought made me panic a bit until.

'Well it is what it is" My brain just accepted it, but it seems that helped me out to get my brain working.

'I guess I should start looking at businesses that might be busy and understaffed like restaurants' I decided.

And so my conquest began, first of all I started to ask people around for rumours and the like. It seemed to work as I did find some hits, but honestly its either something suspicious or I would be better of selling myself as a slave than do that. At least as a slave I might have a chance to leave a decent life.

After that didn't work out I started to look for myself, I tried small businesses maybe they needed a secretary or the like. Well needless to say it didn't work out much. Afterwards I decided to try myself in the gastronomy category.

Honestly it was surprisingly easier, but a lot of them didn't need more employees. One of them did decide to hire me for a test run as a waiter, but I didn't think I would be THAT bad at it. I dropped the food on my 4th order and even after that I still did lots of small mistakes. In the end I got kicked out, no chance at redemption. Can't say I'm surprised.

After finishing my job hunting, feeling defeated and hopeless. I stood on the streets with the moon shining onto me, I was thoroughly tired there were even some dark circles under my eyes. What scary things can stress do to people, I myself am surprised.

Dejected I started to head back to the Inn, but I was quite shocked after looking around for a bit.

"Damn I really went far away from it" So it's the middle of the night I'm totally beat and tired, god why must you do this to me?! Okay enough wailing.

I walked a bit more but I don't know why, maybe my mind was clouded from being tired maybe something else, but I decided to make a decision I wouldn't normally do.

'This way looks like there will be a shortcut' That's right I went to a suspicious part of the city at night, it's like I'm asking for problems. And sure enough after only 10 minutes of walking there was a man in ragged clothes coming up to me.

"What are you doing here kid huh?" He looks at me provocatively.

"Walking here at night, you must have something on don't you?" I don't really understand this logic, seriously mugging a kid I mean it is an easy target but what can a kid have? Anyway I was already incredibly annoyed before, now this dude comes up and asks for problems?

'He won't walk away today' I think as I clench my left hand.

"Come on pay up!" He says as he gets closer.

I was already about to summon my martial soul but suddenly something unexpected happened. I saw a hand grab the man's right shoulder.

"Huh?" He looks to his back when.

*BAM* a fist came right into his face, the man couldn't even react but he was already laying on the floor unconscious.

"Are you alright?" a calming voice resounded from him.

"Y-yes, I am" I was still quite surprised after this happened so I stuttered.

At this moment however the moon came out from behind the clouds, and light shone onto us. I could now see the man that just saved the one who was about to mug me. He was quite handsome, he had a gentle face, jet-black hair and dark eyes with a tint of deep blue. It seemed to me that he was quite tall, and he was definitely well built. I could even see his muscles, they weren't exactly bulging his arm was a perfectly normal sized, but it had well defined and toned muscles.

"Good, my name is Weles by the way, and you are?" He said with a smile while handing me out his hand.

"I'm Cai Ying" I say as I took his hand and then shook it.
