Attack

Charles couldn't quite understand what king meant by Justin being gifted. King had already told them that the boy was as normal as any other civilian that walked the streets, suddenly changing his words and saying he was gifted made no sense at all.

"What makes you think so?" Charles asked in a quest to quench his burning curiosity. King was rarely wrong and it made ninety nine percent of his words believable. This was also one of the reasons he was their leader.

"I can't really say, it's just a hypothesis but I think his gift is luck" King said, continuously pressing on the fact that he wasn't sure yet and his words could be false and proven wrong anytime.

"Luck?" Charles questioned abstractly while lost in thoughts about the possibility of the boy's gift being luck. It made sense that King wasn't able to sense it, you can't physically see or project luck or even feel luck, so it was possible. He tried to recollect every event sorrounding the boy and try to figure out if it was his luck that had been keeping him safe.

Charles thought hard, recollecting everything that he knew and had heard about the boy and him having luck as a gift seemed pretty farfetched. He believed everything to be a coincidence and not really a gift that was in play. Saying it was the boy's gift that brought Wilson to their house that particular day was not believable . Wilson had already been in the police force and had visited many victimized homes before them. Even though Wilson hadn't really stayed back to offer more protection to the others, saying it was Justin's gift that kept him back was not entirely true.

The only incident he could possibly think had something to do with luck was him being able to keep up with a special grade Guild member. It wasn't really explainable how someone who had never received any special training could be able to keep up with somebody of that caliber while Wilson couldn't. But once again he termed it as coincidence. Only one lucky event couldn't really finalize that his ability was luck. It just wasn't enough proof.

"Why do you say so?" Charles asked. King read the boy's mind and might have seen other things that happened in his life that he wasn't aware of. King was a trustworthy person and he doubted the man would make up lies randomly without a good reason.

"Forget it, maybe I was being obsessed with the boy. It was just a hunch anyways" King ended the conversation. He had also thought thoroughly through everything and had also concluded that it might just be a coincidence. There wasn't enough evidence to fully conclude that the boy was gifted, bit he still had his hopes up. He doubted that a descendant of one the most powerful people to ever exist was not gifted. It didn't make sense to him at all..

Charles thought hard, he didn't want it to seem that his superior was lying or anything and an idea had popped up in his head.

"Why don't we try something" Charles suggested. It was a dangerous attempt, but it was at least going to make them sure of their hypothesis. He drew up a blade from his pocket and made for where the boy sat but was pulled back by King who saw this as madness. There was no way he was going to endanger a young man's life because he wanted to quench his curiosity. Charles was indeed psychotic.

He snatched away the blade from the man's had and threw it aside. He understood well what the man was trying to do, but he wasn't going to allow it. If they were wrong, then they'll have a dead man on their hands and a raging sister on the other. There was already enough drama in their lives and adding more scenes to the already ambiguous ones wasn't necessary.

"What do you think you're doing" King questioned after stopping his demented assistant.

Charles ignored the man's question and stood still for a while. He had just had a vision. Someone was coming and this person was much more powerful than any person he had ever faced. For some reason his vision was blurry and unclear, but he could tell that something big was coming.

King immediately read the man's mind and had immediately figured out the reason for the sudden silence. Without hesitation he pulled Charles back to reality and rushed towards the others. This opponent was no joke if Charles considered him this powerful. There was no denying that Charles was the strongest amongst them all and the only reason he was above him was his condition and his ability to read the man's mind because of his weak mental state. If these factors were removed, then Charles would have no difficulty obliterating him from existence.

"Run!" King ordered making the unaware majority jolt in shock before making movements away from where they sat.

Wilson immediately pulled out his cigarettes and lit it up and without orders, he filed the entire place with smoke triggering his ability into motion in order to buy time for the escaping ones. He had now learnt how to channel his ability to a specified place and opponent and had grown stronger with this new development, but he still fell short in terms of power compared to those above him.

"Go with them Wilson. This opponent is not something you can handle" Charles relayed to his brother who nodded and raced after the others.

His heart raced as he chased after the fleeing trio. He had never seen his brother so worried and uneasy as he was. Whatever that was coming was truly powerful, but he kept his cool. No matter how strong the person was, he wasn't getting past those two. They were the strongest people he knew and together, they were the deadliest combo.

"What a weak ability. Compared to mine this is like a drop in an ocean" A voice spoke from the cloud of smoke.

"That means his ability is also illusion" King relayed mentally to Charles who nodded in affirmation to the received information.

A single swipe of the intruders hand cleared away the smoke screen revealing a figure they had never seen before. The aura sorrounding him was enough to tell them that this man was a formidable foe. And the evil that oozed from him easily confirmed that he was a Guild member and from his power level, a grade one member.
