A loud screech pierced the air. Jael brought his fingers to his ears and blocked his ear holes.
"Turn it off!" Erick yelled.
The screeching seized and Evan heaved. His chest lifted, and his loud breaths echoed in the room.
"What are you doing here? You can't do this. We have an alliance." He blurted out, his body shaking with every word.
Jael groaned and ran his hand through his hair, this was even less fun. He had expected Evan to have some backbone instead of being a terrified mess.
Sobs were coming from the group of people the guards had brought into the room, they were hunched up in the corner on their knees.
The women were hugging each other while the only two men stood apart. One was a sobbing mess while the other looked unfazed. They all had bleeding necks.
He returned his gaze to Evan, "An alliance? I do not recall."
Evan gasped, it sounded more like he couldn't breathe than being shocked about Jael's response.
