The carriage came to an abrupt stop. "We are here," Jael announced.
Mauve sat upright immediately, "Really?" She asked and tried to look out the window but Jael held her.
"We will be out soon, contain your excitement."
She sneered at him but held still. It was just out the window, he didn't have to make such a fuss but Mauve couldn't complain, not with the way he had held her during the trip.
She had been anxious and she knew he could tell. The journey had been smoother than she imagined it to be. They made a few stops but nothing worrisome. Best of all, they had gotten here without any attack.
Suddenly, the door was thrown open and was held open. "Sire," Damon's voice rang out through the night.
Jael grunted as he stepped out of the carriage and quickly turned around to help her out. He stretched out his hand and she took it. Just as she did, he grabbed her by the waist and pulled her out.
