Ambush

"How long till we get back to the base?" Gertrude casually asked

They had been traveling nonstop for 4 days now; they didn't even take a single break. They were exhausted. Who knew that they were already so far from the base?

The special instructions officer didn't reply right away. He seemed to be in deep thought.

"Those guys from the cell looked kind of strange, right?" The special instructions officer didn't bother to reply to Gertrude at the moment.

There was a strange glint in the eyes of the men in the cell when he and the others left that made him feel very uncomfortable.

"Well, they kept on staring, so yeah, they were strange." Gertrude didn't understand the reason for the question.

"There are a lot of strange people with strange characters in this world, so why was he bothered by this one primarily?" They all had the same line of thought in their minds.

"Nevermind," the special instructions officer said to them, completely forgetting Gertrude's first question.
