29: Alliance

The day was average. Pretty normal. People kept talking to you, which was weird, but nice. They also kept freaking out over how you've been akumatized twice... You told them you didn't even remember why, which was a lie, but whatever.

You walked home as usual. You considered going into your whispy form, but decided to take a peaceful walk instead.

What now? What would you do now?

You had your powers even though you had no Akuma. Should you use it? And, the flower somehow caused you to keep them, though you had no idea how. It was sort of dumb that a flower could hold that much power, let alone that much  . How did it even create that?! However, the gas dispersed when you weren't around, for whatever reason. You didn't really know. Turns out it only created gas when you were there, which was sort of weird. It still did it whether you were akumatized or not.

You were curious what the reason for this was, but decided to ignore it. What would you do, chase down a man in a trenchcoat that you had no idea of the identity or whereabouts of? Yes, that'd work. Totally. It was hopeless, and not really important. Not for you, at least.

But you were still bored.

You opened the front door and stepped into your house. The house was untouched from the time you left it. You wondered into the living room, dropping your bag next to the wall. Finally, you were home! You glanced around the room before spying a wilted flower in a small pot in the corner of the counter.

You walked over, tracing the leaves with your fingertips. It was dying, yet somehow, in your presence, it seemed to regain life. Being around the plant made you feel the same drowsiness as before, but not as strong.

You didn't like it.

You picked up the plant, deciding to get rid of it. Your aunt and uncle always made sure the plant was taken of, and gave you specific instructions when it came to taking care of it. You tried your best, but you recently forgot all about it, and with all this Akuma business going on, it only distanced you from the plant even more. It was only a plant, after all.

Still, having no idea how to throw away a plant, you simply placed it next to a street lamp only a few paces away from your house. Someone could take it in, or maybe it'd live there forever. You walked back to your door, glancing at the plant. Why did it feel like you just abandoned a pet...? You shook your head, hoping to expel the thoughts and entered your house, only for your eyes to widen.

There sat Chat Noir, who was lazing around, and Ladybug, who stood, looking fairly serious. They glanced at you as you opened the door.

"Ahh, Y/N! Nice to see ya!" Chat smirked, giving you a two-fingered salute. Your eyebrows furrowed as you looked between the two.

"Y/N, we need help. We're proposing something. An alliance. Will you join us?" Ladybug spoke, a stern glint in her eye. She extended her arm out to you. The two shared a determined look.

You slammed the door shut.

"So you need to find out about my powers. I got that. But why do you need help?" You sighed. After some convincing, Ladybug and Chat Noir coaxed you to come in and listen to them. You'd admit, an adventure sounded cool, but right now? Everyone knew who your akumatized self was along with your powers. They would probably recognize you, to be honest. It sounded like a bother. You just wanted to have friends, not become a superhero!

Well, being a superhero actually sounded fun.

Still bothersome, though...

"We need you to help us find the place where they made the plant. You can travel around quicker than we can, can't you?" Chat asked hopefully. You shrugged.

"I mean, do you have a location in mind, or are you just trying to get me to go around all of Paris?" You asked. The two gulped, revealing that that had been their actual plan. You let out a sigh, "Actually, I have a plant just like the one you used against me. I threw it out, though..."

"W-what?! Why??" Ladybug gasped, eyes wide. The two of them stood abruptly, leaning toward you. You leaned back awkwardly.

"I-I mean, my aunt and uncle are the ones who got it... Plus it was making me dizzy..." You sighed. The two were still frozen in their demanding position. "It's outside. By the lamppost."

The two rushed out, then trudged back in shortly after.

"It's gone..." Chat pouted. You let out a sigh.

"Sorry~ Never thought about trying to find out where it came from. I just wanted to get rid of it no matter what."

"I guess it's fine, Y/N." Ladybug mumbled. She rose a curled finger to her lips, her face in a contemplating expression, "Well, we're going to need to ask your aunt and uncle instead."

"That'll be hard, considering they're abroad." You shrugged. Their eyes widened, and you laughed. "I've got contact with them, don't worry. I can just ask."

"No, we can't do that... They can easily lie, and we wouldn't be able to tell. Where exactly are they?" Ladybug asked.

"Uhh, right now, I think they're in Germany? Going to England in like a week, though..." You mumbled. The two gave you questioning looks, and before they could answer, you responded, "They work."

"What as?"

"Just for a company. I don't know the details." You shrugged. Ladybug's stare narrowed.

"Y/N, I'd like you to find out their jobs. Give us all the details, and make sure we know the next time they'll visit." She spoke with focus. You held up your arms defensively, eyebrows furrowing.

"Woah, woah, woah. Are you trying to tell me you actually suspect them?? They're like, the most boring people you could know. I doubt they have anything to do with this. I say we just ask where they got the plant and move on."

"It can't be that simple! This is our only lead, and how come the plant was taken away?" Chat asked. You let out a sigh.

"...Yeah, okay. I guess it's sort of weird, considering the two of them always insisted I take care of it... I'm still pretty convinced they've got nothing to do with this, but I'll go along with it. I'll ask about their jobs in a bit. We've got a video call session planned in a couple of days, so that should be a good time." You mumbled. You couldn't believe they actually expected those two of all people. They were the most average people you could think of, to be honest...

"Alright, that's the plan. We'll come by in three days. Does that sound good to you?" Chat asked with a smirk. You nodded.

"Yeah, that's good. I'll tell you what I found out then."

"Alright. Thank you, Y/N. We couldn't have done this without you." Ladybug smiled. You nodded in response, and the two started to walk to the exit.

"Oh, by the way, the fact you just burst out my house right after the plant was taken was pretty dumb. If the plant really taken by someone shady, they could have seen you go out my door. They might also know you've been talking with me, since there's a window over there that they can easily see through-" You spoke, pointing to the window, "That could raise some suspicion, and if my carers really are the people you suspect them to be, they can be told to keep a close eye on my behavior. That means me asking about their jobs might just raise an alarm. So that was dumb." You ranted. The two heroes silenced and paled. You laughed at their expressions, "But don't worry about it~ I'm sure it'll work out!"

"...R-Right..."

Yeah, it probably wasn't gonna work out.
