Combating the Sea 2

"Luna, you holding up alright?" Rune looked back over his shoulder as he asked.

He and the rest of his party were walking across the water's surface on a path made from barrier magic. The girl in question scoffed and turned her head flicked her hair.

"Of course. Who do you think I am?"

But the faint blush on her cheeks made it obvious that she was happy to have him worry about her.

Rune smiled wryly and turned his attention back to the front. To tell the truth, he wasn't sure how the connection between them worked. They were both working in conjunction with one another to form the path, but the power for barrier magic was solely Luna's. Was he taking her mana too every time he used his power, or was it simply something that activated his own dormant mana deep within?

All the testing they had done led him to believe it was the latter, but that did not stop Rune from occasionally checking on her to make sure.
