Dr Arbor And Blush

Blush had been pondering over her direction and true purpose in life for a long time.

It was to the point that she had gone over her previous life and her current life several times in her mind trying to get a better grasp of her own goals and pursuits.

The key conclusion she kept coming up with related to her main motivations was always her own selfish desires.

Blus came to understand that her goal was never so noble as she thought she was pursuing.

Her main motivation had always been primarily related to overcoming death.

It was heavily related to the having to watch her loved ones succumb to illness, old age or other ailments without a way to overcome them.

If the human body was stronger and more resilient to all kinds of harm then there was more hope in her loved ones still being with her.

There were many times when her life was filled with loneliness and loss since she had lost her remaining family to such circumstances.

She heard about many old friends and colleagues dying or having loved ones disappear so suddenly.

There were times in her life when she simply lost relationships with others due to her being to single minded and focussed towards her goal or having conflicting views with those she was once close with.

It was quite a lonely path she was on yet the times when she was most motivated in life was when she was trying to find ways to cure a certain ailment or to explore a new method to make humans far less likely to die.

If Blush had been asked why she was constantly pursuing such a path then she would have answered that it was for the betterment of humanity.

If asked in the present then she would have to say that those past views were just her lying to herself and others.

Blush never truly had such noble goals of helping and saving everyone.

Her motivations were more selfish.

It was an undeniable truth that not everyone could be saved.

Even if a method was successfully provided for all too be immune to everything and be free from the grasp of death, new problems would begin to arise like resource and population problems since people were being born but the death rate had lowered significantly.

Giving such power and long life to anyone was reckless since they could use it for just about any purpose.

If she had succeeded in her previous life then there were still many areas which could not be controlled.

Humans could still kill other humans so long as they had the power to do so and that would mean many evolved humans would war among themselves over resources and power just like usual.

In the Dragon Ball universes, it was even more true that becoming a perfect life form was still not enough to survive whatever is a threat to a life.

So many life forms were judged on power based on power levels while higher being existed creating even more possibilities of death.

Simply being resistant or immune to many deadly things was not enough to survive anymore and having a longer or infinite life span was not enough to ensure eternal survival.

Blush had visited the Capital City and entered a small herb and medicine store where many herbalists and doctors were working together.

She reached into her clothes before pulling out a small card showing it to the lady at the counter who showed her to the back room.

Upon reaching the back room, there was a pale and aged old man who was seated and reading in a comfortable chair.

His appearance had not been one most would recognise within the main community of doctors but he was quite distinguished in his field.

Dr Arbor had been in disguise helping Blush with establishing a small foundation within the capital.

His long experience and expertise had helped greatly to build a reputation for his new identity and store.

Upon seeing Blush and nobody else in the room, he touched the small jewelled accessory on his body which caused his appearance to return to its original state. "I thought I would not see you before my death."

Dr Arbor was getting older and more unwell the more time that had passed.

The previous ailment he suffered from had played a large role towards his current state but the other reason was his old age.

Even her previous experiments were of no use towards helping his current state since they would only help in granting him a little more time to live.

He was already so close to his death and it was already a miracle that he had lasted as long as he had.

He may have looked a little better than how he was feeling but that was mainly due to his stubbornness to die and his careful maintenance of his body.

Blush stepped closer and said firmly. "I will not let you die old man."

Dr Arbor knit his brows and waved his hand. "It is impossible. I am already too far gone now."

Blush shook her head in response. "If there is even the slightest bit of hope then can you please just try it?"

The times when Blush was most motivated in her path she had chosen was usually when death was approaching upon herself or others close to her.

It was never really for others that she had no relationship with or barely knew.

Dr Arbor was someone she had come to know and treated him as someone important in her life.

He was among the first people who had taken her in and treated her well in such an unfamiliar world.

He provided her with so much knowledge and experience that was invaluable towards her reaching her current state.

She was sick and tired of failing to save those she wanted to save.

The deadline was approaching fast yet she finally had a breakthrough.

Such a breakthrough had prevented her from taking a rather reckless and drastic step towards trying to preserve his life.

Blush pushed a syringe containing a green serum across the table towards Dr Arbor. "This is my latest masterpiece. I made this specifically for you."

It was something that had been perfected and there were very few others who had the same one besides the final successes of the serum test who were recently put to use within Alchemi.

Dr Arbor hesitated for some time before coming to his decision. "Fine then. It does not matter whether I live or die. Just do not blame yourself if this does not work."

He wanted to live but did not wish to see his successor distraught if she failed to keep him alive.

He was well aware that death was approaching and that ordinary methods were useless.

Dr Arbor was willing to try just about anything just so he could cling on a little longer to see how his successor grew to greatness and have a little more time to support her during her rise.

There was genuine care towards her almost like he would feel towards his own child.

Even if he never truly said it out loud, his actions and constant support were always conveyed to Blush.

His wrinkled hands twirled his white handlebar moustache and goatee as he was thinking for some time then spoke again. "I will do it now. You do not have to watch this my successor."

Blush shook her head looking confident. "Please believe in me."
