Chapter 176: School is back in session! (Edited)

Fish really liked Lockhart's story.

Compared to the simpler, more unrealistic fairy tales, Lockhart's stories were much more exciting and believable.

Although Fish had no precise idea of what a literary work was, he could tell if it was interesting or not.

So he spent the vacations pestering Professor McGonagall to read to him, and at the same time, he became quite interested in Lockhart as a person.

After all...

From the story, this guy seems to be a good fighter.

From what Minerva said, is he the teacher who will replace Stinky Guy next semester?

The kitten licked its paws unconsciously, vaguely hoping.

...

Vacations always seemed to fly by, and it seemed like he had barely passed his birthday when he got a notice from Professor McGonagall that classes would start tomorrow and he should pack his bags.

"Meow!" ∑(●ΦДΦ●)

Fish approached Comey and confirmed, "Comey, do classes really start tomorrow nya? Minerva didn't lie to me nya?"

"Yes, Master Fish!"

Comey replied pointedly, "Tomorrow is the first of September, the day classes start at Hogwarts, and Comey is going back to work at the school!"

The corners of Professor McGonagall's mouth twitched, her own credibility seeming to be diminishing with Fish.

But there was nothing she could do about it, she would have to cajole the cat into behaving.

"How could I lie to you about such a thing!"

Professor McGonagall walked over to Fish and smacked him upside the head.

"Tomorrow you'll see the rest of your classmates at school, and I can't lie to them too!"

"Nya~ (≧ω≦)"

Seeing Minerva's anger, Fish hurried to protect his little head and ran away.

Although it was a bit annoying that classes would start again, but it would be nice to see other friends back at school, not to mention the big start-of-term meal....

With that in mind, Fish ran back inside and poked his head out the door and called out to Comey, "Comey, for the school party tomorrow, be sure to bring me some sweet and sour ribs!".

"Yes, Master Fish!"

Comey agreed without hesitation.

Professor McGonagall opened her mouth slightly, but in the end said nothing.

Unlike the Weasleys, Hogwarts had plenty of money, and Dumbledore himself was very rich, so this was nothing to pay for food.... was it?

The next morning, Fish arrived at Hogwarts with Professor McGonagall.

As Deputy Headmistress of the school, she had a lot of things to do before the new school year began.

But Fish was not happy.

"Minerva! Didn't you say that the other students were coming too?!"(●`Д●)

Fish looked at Professor McGonagall, furious that she had lied to his.

Before Professor McGonagall could respond, however, Comey tugged on her sleeve and reminded his: "Master Fish, the opening ceremony isn't until tonight, and the other students should still be on the train."

"Train? What train?"

Fish's attention immediately focused on the new word in Comey's mouth.

"It's the Hogwarts Express, you should have seen it when you were in Hogsmeade village."

"The long tin box?"

Normally, the Hogwarts Express was parked on the Hogsmeade platform and only started up during the long vacations to take students to and from the station.

The only time Fish had seen it in action was when he and Hagrid went to greet the new students at the beginning of term and saw it stop on the platform, and so he hadn't remembered it for a long time.

When he did remember it, he lost interest in it, as the cat didn't like the constant din.

"Not fun nya..." Fish pouted, running outside with his legs, muttering, "I'm going to play with Hagrid."

Realizing he had misunderstood Minerva, he left before anyone could react. ()

Professor McGonagall, who had guessed Fish's thoughts, was amused and annoyed to see the little fellow disappear in an instant, but now she couldn't be bothered to catch the kitten, and could only chide him with a laugh, "That little rascal, he's lucky he got away!".

Professor McGonagall and Comey then went about their business, while Fish scurried up to the hut and found Hagrid grooming his beard: it was the first day of school and he was in charge of transporting the first years to make a good impression.

Though his beard, no matter how he groomed it, would be the same.

"Hagrid I've come to play with you nya!".

Fish's sudden intrusion startled Hagrid. His hand holding the comb jerked violently and several whiskers were removed. Hagrid let out a cry of pain, which in turn startled Fish.

"Ow~! It's Fish..."

Grimacing, Hagrid covered his jaw and looked towards the door, only to see Fish looking at him with big green eyes and a frightened look, and his cat tail bristling.

"Hagrid, what are you doing?". ?w?

The startled Fish regained his composure and walked over to Hagrid and asked curiously, "I thought you were beaten when you were screaming so loud."

"I was combing my beard and accidentally pulled out two."

Hagrid answered loudly and showed Fish the wooden comb in his hand and some beards dangling from it.

"That sounds painful... (●``﹏●)"

Fish unconsciously touched the corner of his lips and then looked curiously at the wooden comb in Hagrid's hand.

He had seen it in Professor McGonagall's room, had scratched it a couple of times before out of curiosity, finding it uninteresting enough to push it to the floor and then ignore it.

Because of its resemblance to a knife, she had always assumed that the comb was used to cut something.

So.

"Why are you cutting your beard with this knife?" ?ω?

The kitten, who was very protective of his beard, didn't understand what Hagrid was doing.

"A knife?"

Hagrid froze and then laughed as he explained, "It's not a knife, it's a comb, for combing hair and beard."

As he said this, he picked up the comb and ran it through his beard.

But because Hagrid's beard was so thick and scruffy, the comb always got stuck halfway through his combing process, and it took him several times to complete it.

"Show me! Show me nya!". (●ω●)

Intrigued, Fish raised his hands in the air and shouted in front of Hagrid.

After grabbing Hagrid's comb, he followed Hagrid's example and gave his tail a few scratches, but his tail was too thin and Hagrid's comb was too big, so it didn't sit too well.

So Fish moved on to combing his own hair, and although he still felt like his teeth were too far apart, it gave Fishy a different sensation than running his tongue over his scalp, and he liked it instantly.

"Meow!" (●ω●)

Fish returned the comb to Hagrid, knowing that Hagrid's things were bigger, so after returning the comb, Fish, who had only been here a short time, turned around and ran back to the castle.

"I'm going to ask Minerva for a small comb!"
