Gu Xietian

Who knew Gu Xietian would be so easy to contact? All she did was to send the letter to the Gu Manor and in a few days her brother came to visit her .

It surprised her, not to mention her little maid that had been so doubtful of the whole plan.

Gu Xietian waited in the garden where the steward had led him.

Both Gu Anxi and her servant stood at a distance watching the tall man's back.

"Mistress... he really came."

Gu Anxi was delighted, and her pace increased.

"Cousin brother, it's been awhile." Gu Anxi smiled at the cousin she hasn't seen for a few years now. The man heard footsteps and turned. Time really changed people in different ways, now she saw him she could tell a lot of things about him weren't the same as before. His bearing, the mature look on his face, the seriousness between his brows. But one thing remained the same. Gu Xietian's expression relaxed when seeing his cousin sister, whatever happened in the past seemed to have been forgotten just like that. It wasn't like he didn't realize his cousin despised him, he knew it. It was just, at the time he thought she was young and had yet to understand the world, that time he didn't see anything wrong with what he did. But at a certain point his view changed, and he found out his sister was right to feel the way she did. After all...

He felt painful in his heart when he saw his sister, how long since she married? The General left for battle and returned after 2 years, when he did, he still constantly left the mansion and hardly stayed home. The worst was the carefree smile she gave him. Like she was unbothered by it all. But she wasn't supposed to be like this, she shouldn't be trying to be strong, she was supposed to be happy. How much his little baby sister had suffered, who would know.

He was so angry, it was difficult to talk.

"...Xixi"

Gu Anxi's smile grew wider to her cousin's delight, how long had it been since she last heard this nickname? She wanted to laugh, but held herself back, and coughed instead.

"Cousin brother, I'm already married."

These words confused him. "You can't cut off all relations with me just because you're married. You'll always be my little Xixi, no one can change that."

Her cousin was so good to her, she wondered why she was so petty, and ended up ruining their good relationship.

There was really no reason to do so.

Maybe because at a certain point in time she had really believed that she could find a man that would love and cherish her, she might have believed in true love once, that was why she thought those who were unreliable were true sinners, but now that she doesn't care all these things were meaningless.

Each of them had their own thoughts that very much varied from each other, but none was willing to mention the past.

Maybe to pretend it never existed? Maybe because they didn't see the need to do so? Who knows.

"Cousin sister called for me out of nowhere it is certainly rare." For her to call him of all people it wasn't so simple.

"Cousin is still the one that knows me best." She too was eager to go straight to the point.

"I want Cousin to help me find someone."

She noticed a twist of his brows as she spoke, and went on to explain. "Actually, I made a bet with someone, I want to catch a thief."

Gu Xietian's eyes widened especially because of the fact that she put it so nonchalantly like she were talking about the weather.

He coughed, maybe he didn't understand what she said? Or maybe he didn't hear correctly.

"Cousin sister...called me to catch thieves?"

Gu Anxi was determined, and nodded. She was prepared to persuade him in case he argued against it.

Gu Xietian calmed down, he had to understand the whole situation first. His cousin sister looked very much fine, even if the General didn't care for her he heard about how much the people in the mansion respected her. If she said 'one' no one dared to say otherwise.

"Can cousin sister elaborate?"

Surprisingly he didn't scold or argue. So she bravely went on. "Actually it's like this..."

After explaining the situation, Gu Xietian slowly nodded.

"So this thieve must really be a tricky one, it turns out he's a mastermind hiding himself"

Gu Anxi nodded in agreement.

"We have to at least get clues on him first. I know among those who go to places like these the sneaky ones aren't of a small amount. But I do have a big clue with me. As long as brother is willing to help me I'll tell you all about my speculations.

"Don't worry, I won't allow people to know about this."

Gu Anxi was relieved. This part of the plan was halfway done.

Gu Xietian was indeed ready to help, as long as she needed it, there were other things he wished to tell her, only the words he wanted to say couldn't come out.

She had called him after so long, now was the time to make himself useful.
