Édouard's gaze lingered on Zoe, who was delicately steeping jasmine tea as per Charlotte's request. After the unsettling revelation from Charles, Édouard found himself torn. He wished to keep Zoe away from Charlotte but didn't want to arouse suspicion in Casimir either.
"Édouard, you're back sooner than usual. Is the task completed?" Charlotte inquired.
"Yes, it's done," Édouard responded.
"You'll need to depart for Wexnon soon," Charlotte stated firmly.
"I understand, and I won't be able to take you along. I'll be back in a day or two," Édouard reassured her.
"Don't concern yourself over me," Charlotte said, offering a reassuring smile. "I thought I might begin knitting baby clothes soon," she added confidently.
"So early? And why do you want to knit clothes?" Édouard questioned, his curiosity piqued.
"It's our firstborn, you see. I want to learn knitting, and I know it might take me a while," Charlotte explained, a smile gracing her lips.
