There was no special treatment given to Amir when he returned. Things were hectic and after being given an armor apt for his position along with a pistol holding Anti-ghouls bullets, Amir was sent out.

The only melee weapon he had on his back was a battle knife that had become the new norm these days due to its versatility, while the swords were barely in circulation and were mostly used by Knights lineages who had learned it since childhood.

But with time, when people slowly gave up honor in pursuit of efficiency, the swords were dropped for blades which were easier to learn and a lot more durable.

And Amir didn't mind the feel of a blade, it was just a giant Knife, nothing more.
