It was in the late afternoon that the firefighters and policemen swept the school grounds for the last time, to see if the missing teachers and kids could be found.
Some of the firefighters wanted to enter the holes to search for their remains if they possibly fell into them, but they were stopped by Grace's bodyguards every time they got close.
They tried to call their supervisors and report this intervention of their duty to save or search for the missing people, but their supervisors could only sigh when they found out the full situation.
They were ordered to stand down and come back to base, after all, more such incidents were beginning to happen all over the city, and they can't waste time arguing or prosecuting them.
Grace had given a check to both the police and the firefighter departments as an investment, telling them their contribution will be needed more, and that she has everything under control here.
So with no other option, they left, feeling conflicted about leaving while their duty hadn't been completed.
As the sunset was setting, Nolan was taking a shower in the school gym, raising away all the filth from his body.
"You made me pull a lot of favors today, hope your buried treasure is worth it." Grace sat a good distance away outside his shower, watching the naked Nolan wash himself.
"Thanks for this, I know I asked a lot of you for only meeting you one night." Nolan turned around, giving her a charming smile.
"You sure know how to play your cards right, seducing me with that dangling thing." Grace bit her lips as she stared at his slightly erect dick which was already bigger than most men.
Nolan merely smiled, continuing to wash away the purple color stuck to his body.
"I was meaning to ask but why are you covered in this smelly purple layer?" Grace asked, her nose twitching as it caught the scent of its smell.
"It came from the mountain of treasure." Nolan smiled mysteriously, refusing to elaborate longer.
"Acting all mysterious, just hurry up, my men are ready to go down." Grace tapped her watch, confirming the ready order sent by her team.
They stepped out together, walking silently and quickly to the exact hole he fell in. Six of her men were wearing miner gear, flashlights, and cameras on their helmets, rope equipment, and rifles on their shoulders.
"Are the guns necessary?" Nolan asked as he watched the six robotic-like men enter the hole one after the other.
"They are just for precaution. it seems the smell you were covered with is wafting from the holes."Grace stated as she held a delicate cloth to her mouth, signaling one of her men to bring her a filtering mask.
The stoic man went to one of the stacked boxes laying on top and all around the reception area they were in, filled with gear.
Grace and Nolan put on a half-lower face-covering black and futuristic mask, the smell instantly getting normal.
They stood over a military-grade computer that was Live feeding directly from the cameras on the helmets and chests of the six men that just now touched the ground.
They covered each other, taking careful and ordered steps through the long and smooth tunnel.
"This tunnel looks man-made, it seems you weren't lying about a treasure being buried here." Grace eyed to her side the calm and bored face of Nolan, who was instead focusing on her body.
"Let me ask you this, Do you know of the strange creatures being sited around the world and in the city recently?" Nolan asked.
"Yes, I have a few of them in clear videos," Grace replied uninterested, focusing on the camera feed.
"You know of the threat they pose to the world?" Nolan frowned a little at her uncaring attitude.
"They can massacre hundreds of unarmed humans alone," Grace replied, as she kept watching the feed.
"Doesn't that worry you, strange creatures, that have never been seen before and can kill hundreds of people easily?" Nolan was frowning now, as he straightened his slouched back.
"So what, some weird strange creatures began to emerge. Do you know how many secret weapons we alone have in stock, not to mention all the powerful organizations and other companies around the world? Killing them is not that difficult, and with some more study on their biology we can devise better effective methods to hunt them down." Grace looked back, from the camera feed, smugly staring at Nolan with a smile.
"Do you think you would have been able to kill these creatures without mass casualty?" Nolan pointed at the camera feed, a serious look on his face.
Grace felt a little wary, slowly looking back to see what he meant by that.
"...What the hell? what are those things?" She exclaimed in shock as the camera showed the dismembered and stacked bodies of the first intersection he performed his massacre.
The six men strangely didn't react to the gory scene, performing their mission as was ordered. They sidestepped the bodies, carefully recording them as the flashlight shined on the purple insect-like shell, a bluish or purplish undertone flesh, dripping with almost black-purple blood.
Grace watched with widened eyes as a drone was released, rising high to give an aerial view of the stacked bodies.
"What's your estimate of the bodies?" Nolan asked quietly from behind her.
"... Almost 100? 150? why are there so many of them here, and why are they dismembered?" Grace asked in a worried voice.
"Say if these strange creatures were to storm the surface, how many do you think they will be able to slaughter before they are exterminated by authorities?" Nolan asked calmly, preparing her for what was about to come.
"Thousands would die, but how were they-"
"Let the men enter the tunnel to the right corner opposite where they entered from." Nolan interrupted her, staring at Grace's uncertain face as she skeptically looked at him.
"Let's now see the mountain of 'treasure.'" Nolan said mysteriously, as Grace ordered the men to follow the command, getting the signal that he wouldn't answer her questions before she saw what she came here for.
Watching with abrupt breaths, the men slowly walked to the tunnel and into it, taking a minute to reach its end. As the men lighted their flashlights into the chamber, Grace stood up in shock as she saw the mountain.
"Here is your treasure, a mountain of corpses from alien creatures invading our world," Nolan said calmly, as he still sat in his chair, impressed with his presentation.
"Now tell me, will your secret weapons be able to kill these creatures before they devour the entire city?" Nolan asked smugly this time.
Grace kept looking at the camera feed as the drones took flight to the ceiling of the chamber, equipped with a powerful flashlight, it captured the stacked and dismembered hill-sized corpses.
She shook a little as she saw the huge headless creature slumped on the side of the hill, falling back to the chair in silence.
Taking a few seconds to calm herself, she looked back at Nolan with a frown on her face,
"Who killed these creatures?" She asked in a firm voice.
"Me," Nolan replied straight to her face, watching as she took a deep breath of confirmation at the suspicion she had.
"H-How?" She breathlessly asked.
"With my bare fists." He replied shorty again, exasperating Grace.
"Ugh... Just tell me what happened here fully," she asked seriously.
"Well, we were in class when a sudden announcement was made by someone over the school intercom telling the students to stay in their classrooms.
"I naturally didn't and began to investigate since I felt some kind of danger was nearby. Following 4 teachers to the ground floor, I heard their screaming, and once I came to this area, they were gone." Grace had an understanding look on her face.
"As you guessed they fell and died from the hidden holes littering the floor, which I too fell shortly after," Nolan said in one breath.
"You survived the fall?" Grace asked in amazement, having seen the length of the fall.
"Not only did I survive, I met these dumb creatures shortly after I arrived in the smaller chamber, and killed them. They weren't that hard to pulverize and were a little dumb as they came at me blindly.
"It took me about half an hour to kill them all after they began to target the people in the school with the sinkholes they somehow concealed." Nolan wrapped his experience, while Grace fell into silence at this revelation.
"Are you even a human anymore, no were you even human to begin with?" she suddenly asked, a curious look on her face.
"What's with that ominous question?" Nolan replied warily.
"Are you?"Grace pressed on.
"Well, I have always been a human as far as I can tell, everything changed last year, and these days I too am wondering if I'm still human or something else." Nolan wrapped his fingers into a fist, a small gust of wind generated from how quickly he formed it.
