New Powers

Miu didn't respond to Zhan's questioning look immediately, but instead looked down at her hands. She then quickly pulled out her phone and turned on the front facing camera. Zhan looked at her oddly, and finally, she explained.

"I think I developed the ability to analyse any living thing that I see…at least, I can easily tell how strong something is now." She slowly turned back towards Zhan and her eyes glowed brilliantly.

"You're strong." She muttered, just now becoming aware that he was holding her in his arms.

"Can you see any specifics, or just my vague over-all power?" Zhan asked curiously. Could she see through the system? He doubted it somehow.

"N-no, I think you're too strong for me to see anything specific, right now at least…" Miu blushed slightly and struggled out from Zhan's grip. He didn't stop her, but continued switching his gaze between Miu and Shia rapidly.

Miu wouldn't have noticed Zhan's quick shift in attention before, but she could now keep up with where he lay his focus.

'He's really pushing himself to make sure that we're all doing alright.' Miu felt a bit surprised. Was Zhan changing, or had she been misunderstanding him until now? The Zhan she knew was far too selfish to waste his energy on caring about others. No, 'selfish' wasn't the right word, since he hardly seemed to care about even his own life.

"Zhan, Shia will be fine, you should rest some more." Miu gently touched his arm.

Zhan blinked, then smiled and nodded. He sighed and lay back, continuing to watch Shia, but losing some of the tension from his body.

"Miu, are you really ok?!" Nui cried out and wedged herself between Zhan and her sister.

"I'm really fine Nui, stop worrying." Miu laughed and rubbed her sister's cute ears lovingly. She glanced at the other people in the lobby, then back towards Nui.

'Nui has a strange aura about her…is it because she's young and naive?' Miu pondered silently, then glanced back at Zhan. 'I think he's noticed it too…Zhan, even though I can see through all of these people, and even those beasts, you're still the biggest mystery to me…'

As Zhan continued to subconsciously pet Nui, ignoring her non-stop embarrassment, he felt a strange sensation in his palm. He paused, then turned towards Nui in surprise as the feeling spread from his palm and into his body. The feeling was warm, as if it was rejuvenating his energy and recovering his wounds.

Miu also turned towards Nui, then specifically towards the point of connection between Nui's head and Zhan's hand. Her eyes widened in shock and she looked up at Zhan.

"Nui, you…"

Zhan ignored Miu and stared down at Nui.

"Eh?" She was startled and looked up at him. The warm feeling continued and Zhan could now see a faint golden light emerging from Nui's body. He pondered for a moment, but for now decided to say nothing. Miu looked like she was about to say something, but Zhan made eye contact with her and shook his head lightly.

'Don't distract her.' He mouthed silently. Miu thought about it for a moment before nodding.

Nui was confused as to why Miu and Zhan were looking at her that way, so she turned away and watched Shia's battle. As she saw Shia stab into the final rat, killing it personally with her sword, Nui bit her lips and clenched her teeth.

"I want to be useful like everyone else, but I'm too weak…" She muttered.

"Hmm…I think Nui is going to be extremely useful to me though." Zhan chuckled.

"Really?" Nui looked up at Zhan with a doubtful expression, still completely oblivious to the fact that she was somehow rapidly speeding up the rate of Zhan's recovery. Zhan wasn't entirely sure how this was happening, but Miu was behind Nui, staring at her intensely as she tried to use her power to assess her little sister.

"Haha, Nui, I said before that petting you helps me to recover, remember?" Zhan's smile widened and a rarely seen softness appeared within his eyes. Nui noticed this genuine feeling and blushed slightly, whilst the golden light pouring out from her body increased in intensity.

Zhan felt really incredible right now. His body, which was previously injured and slowly recovering, now felt like it was being washed with a wave of pure euphoria. The warmth from that golden light felt amazing, and he could feel his rate of recovery increase by ten fold…no, twenty fold!

If this continued on, all of his injuries would be entirely healed within an hour!

He was already in good enough condition to fight, and the longer Nui's ability lasted, the better his condition would become.

"Huh? This, what's going on?" Shia finished her battle and was approaching the trio, but then paused in shock as she saw the faint golden light travelling from the top of Nui's head and into Zhan's palm.

"Ah, Shia, are you hurt?!" Nui suddenly remembered that Shia had been fighting just now. She turned away from Zhan and worriedly looked at Shia up and down. Now that her concentration had been broken, the golden light stopped emitting from her body.

Zhan sighed…it was good whilst it lasted. He received around 2 minutes of Nui's strange subconscious power. The first minute accelerated his recovery by a factor of ten, the second minute by twenty. It was as good as resting for half an hour, putting him in a fairly decent position.

His organs were now only slightly aching, whilst his cuts had healed over and his muscles fully recovered. As usual, it was only the one or two fractures on his ribs that were still damaged and causing him some discomfort. He could at least fight properly now, though a serious battle would definitely aggravate the remaining injuries.

As Nui turned to Shia, she suddenly felt a wave of dizziness overcome her. She fell forwards, but was caught by Zhan, who softly pulled her back in towards him.

"I'm sorry…" She muttered weakly.

"It's fine Nui, just rest." Zhan murmured with a smile. Nui felt extremely tired for some reason, she didn't even have the energy to feel embarrassed and directly fell asleep in Zhan's embrace.

"Just what's going on?" Shia asked in alarm.

Rather than answering, Zhan turned to Miu and waited to see if she could tell them anything.

"It seems that Nui does have an ability, but she still hasn't realised it herself. Her ability is to accelerate the healing and recovery of other living creatures back to their optimal state, I'm not exactly sure how she uses this power though. Zhan is too strong, so she wore herself out without even realising it…my guess is that her desire to help out is what triggered the activation of her power this time."

"It should be easier for her to use this power if she knows about it, right?" Zhan asked with gleaming eyes.

"Mm." Miu nodded. "But you were right to say nothing before…the experience of using the power until she exhausted herself has definitely helped her, if we had said anything, the power would have been cut off when she lost focus."

Zhan nodded, expecting it to be something like this, but Shia was bewildered.

"Wait, Miu, how do you know all of this all of a sudden?"

"Oh right, you were busy so didn't hear it…I also awakened a power after the mutated rat's blood splashed on my leg. I have the power to analyse living creatures." Miu smiled at Shia brightly. She was in a really good mood, not only because of her own power, but also due to her little sister's awakening.

She knew that now, their value had definitely skyrocketed in Zhan's eyes.

Indeed, the way Zhan looked at Nui now was filled with desire. Ahem, not the same desire he held to her before, but more like the desire someone would feel towards a precious treasure.

The power to accelerate recovery…was incredible! Having someone like this around would greatly improve his chances of survival. Nui's ability would also allow him to fight more often, without needing to hold back for worry of getting injured!

Shia's eyes also lit up. She was now the only one of them without a power, but she didn't let this get her down.

"Miu, can you see more about Zhan's power? Ah, because it could be helpful to him to know more, not because I'm curious or anything…" She looked away from Zhan towards the end there.

"This…" Miu pondered for a moment before shaking her head. "Maybe it's because Zhan is too strong for me to assess, but I can't see any sort of superpower, other than his extremely powerful body, enhanced mind, reflexes, things like that…but even then, I can't really see the full extent of everything."

"No, that's pretty much all there is to it." Unexpectedly, Zhan nodded. "It's a bit complicated, but I don't really have any superpower. Just think of it as the ability to improve the features possessed by a normal human body the more I kill."
