The Doctor and Her Sister

Four days passed by. Zhan and Nui didn't leave the apartment, as they had no reason to do so. The apartment was massive, like an entire Hollywood family mansion flattened and placed on the top floor of a city apartment complex. You could live in here for weeks and never feel the need to leave.

Shia returned to work after taking half a day off. She still wanted to distract herself from the coming future, but also needed to handle the massive load of deliveries that Zhan had issued. The syndicate men handled their own matters and the police no longer got involved. As for the residents and staff…Shia claimed ignorance.

When people asked, she just said that she had no idea what happened or what that man's true identity was, but that they probably shouldn't ask. After remembering that scene from before, everyone silently agreed with her.

Four days passed by and Saturday rolled around.

"Zhan, you've been on your phone more often recently." Nui commented after finishing her warmup jog. She already showed big improvements, almost reaching the level of an ordinary un-athletic small girl!

"Mm, I've been texting someone."

"Eh, is it a girl?" Nui regretted saying that as soon as it left her mouth.

"Mm, it is." Zhan nodded as he typed another message. Nui froze. She opened her mouth as if she wanted to say something, but she didn't really have anything to say.

Why was it that hearing that made her feel uneasy?

"Oh right, that girl is moving in today." Zhan added as a side note, then put his phone down and stretched before he started weight training.

"…Huh?" Nui stared.

"To my apartment." He clarified. "She's moving in this afternoon."

"Wh- what, why is this happening so suddenly?!" She cried out. She had only just learned about this girl, and now she was moving in?!

"Is she…is she your girlfriend?" Nui asked carefully.

"Huh? No. She's my doctor. I agreed to let her and her sister join our group for the second wave."

It might seem like Zhan should have consulted Nui and Shia about this before letting them join the group, but truthfully…he had never even made a formal arrangement with Nui and Shia to group up for this cataclysm. Shia just assumed that this would be the case, but Nui…

"Our group? Ah, you mean that I'm allowed to follow you even in the apocalypse?!" She cried out excitedly, her ears twitching and her tail wagging.

"Yeah, of course. Do you really think that you could survive alone Nui?"

"No…"

He didn't mean that as an insult, but just as a matter of fact. Nui could definitely not survive on her own. She could barely survive university on her own. She had been heavily sheltered by her parents and always did as she was told, but finally, she wanted something different for her life. It wasn't that she hated being confined and desperately wanted her freedom or anything extreme like that, just that she knew that she didn't want to follow her parent's life plan.

After disobeying her parents and signing up to a different degree course than they instructed, she was accused of being ungrateful and dishonouring them…and her parents refused to speak with her, unless it was to help her get back on track with the 'right path'. They were so confident that Nui would fail when left to rely on herself that they actually did this. This said a lot about how they raised her, if even they knew that she was unable to go about life on her own.

"Ah, but this woman! How come you didn't mention it before? I don't think Shia will be happy…" Nui mentioned.

"Shia? This is my apartment, Shia's just a freeloader!" Zhan scoffed.

"I'm sorry…"

"Not Nui, Nui's not a freeloader. Because Nui's cute and keeps me company whilst I train." Zhan smiled. That statement completely distracted her and made her forget that he didn't actually answer her question.

He didn't mention it until now, because…he forgot to tell them. It just didn't cross his mind.

The hours passed by and Zhan continued training. Unlike Zhan, Nui was unable to go on and on like this. If she wanted to train everyday, she needed to limit her sessions to 2-3 hours at most. Anymore than this and her body would hurt too much to move the next day.

She stayed in the gym, watching videos on her phone as Zhan trained. She followed him around the gym like a puppy whenever he moved to a different area.

As time passed by, she became increasingly anxious as she wondered if she would get along well with this mysterious doctor. She was imagining a woman in her fifties, blonde hair but a fair few greys, stern but also kind hearted.

Indeed, Nui was an idiot. Of course not every doctor was in their fifties, but there also weren't many practising doctors around Zhan's age.

Buzz…

'Hey Zhan, I'm here now! At least I think this is the right place… wow, is this really an apartment complex? The reception is like a hotel and there are so many members of staff!'

Zhan quickly typed back a response.

'Haha, yeah that's the place. Do you see a girl in her early twenties, black hair, good looking but also stressed and irritated?'

He quickly got a reply.

'OMG, I think I can actually see who you're talking about right now! Are you here? I don't see you anywhere.'

He laughed and tapped away.

'She's the apartment block manager. I'm in my apartment on the top floor, just say that you're here to move in with Zhan. '

He put his phone down, but then grinned and picked it up, sending another text.

'Take a picture of her face after you say that and send it to me.'

Miu replied quickly.

'Alright, if you say so, lol. If she gets mad I'm immediately blaming you though.'

A minute passed by and Nui noticed that Zhan wasn't beginning another exercise, so she approached him nervously.

"Is the doctor here?"

"Mm, she's downstairs. I think Shia should be bringing her up now."

Zhan stretched, then walked out of the gym and into the kitchen. He drank a glass of water, then headed towards the lounge.

Buzz…

He looked at his phone and laughed. Nui peered past his arm and saw the picture of Shia's face, presumably right after she learned that another young girl would be moving in with Zhan. She looked dazed, irritated, angry, discontent and reluctant all at the same time. A minute later, they arrived at the front door.

Zhan turned the corner first and grinned when he saw Shia glaring at him. Nui followed behind closely after, slightly hiding behind Zhan.

When she saw the 'old doctor' besides Shia, she froze. Miu also looked past Zhan and towards Nui with a wide eyed look. She was shocked at first, but she quickly recovered. She smiled brightly, let go of her bags and stepped forwards, then wrapped her arms around Nui and hugged her tightly.

"Big sister…what…what are you doing here?" Nui stood there dumbly.

Both Zhan's and Shia's eyes popped out.

"Big sister?!" They both exclaimed. Shia quickly turned towards Zhan with a speechless expression and said:

"You actually didn't know?"

Zhan slowly shook his head.

"I knew that Miu had a younger sister…I agreed to let them both move in. To think that her younger sister was actually Nui!"

Miu released the still dazed Nui from her hug and laughed.

"I was surprised when your address was actually in the same building as Nui's, but I didn't think that you would actually be friends! Haha, little sister, you finally made a friend, even visiting him during the day!" Miu laughed happily.

"Umm, actually, Miu…" Nui looked down and blushed.

"Nui's been living here since the first wave." Shia said bluntly. She would never hold back on a non-work situation that could cause Zhan a headache.

"Huh?!" Miu span towards Zhan accusingly.

"You, why are you living with my little sister?!"

"Hey, don't look at me like I'm a villain." Zhan rolled his eyes. "With her mutation, we thought it would be best if she stayed hidden for now. Her room was a bit small to stay cooped up in, so she moved into my place and ended up staying here."

Miu blinked.

"Mutation?"

"Uh, yeah, her cat ears and tail." Zhan said with confusion. Miu span back towards Nui and her eyes darted across her younger sister's body. She quickly pinched Nui's ear.

"Nyaaa!"

Shia and Zhan's eyes widened again. What an incredible sound!

"You, Nui, why did you not tell me that you had a mutation?!" Miu cried out. She hugged her little sister tightly again, but couldn't help but pinch her tail after seeing it swaying back and forth behind her.

"Nyaaaaaa!" Nui whined out cutely. Everyone stared at her and she ended up covering her face, unable to deal with the humiliation.

Until now, she managed to keep it a secret that her tail and ears were extremely sensitive. Her older sister immediately outed her though.

Zhan's eyes burned with a bright light, that he managed to hide from the other two girls just in time. Miu looked at him suspiciously, then turned back to Nui again.

"Did he do anything to you?"

"Huh? Like what?"

That genuinely confused expression…this was what worried Miu most of all. Her sister had always been naturally innocent and naive, but her upbringing only made this even worse. People could take advantage of her and she wouldn't even know it.

Miu took a deep breath and decided that her sister needed to face the real world.

"Did Zhan try to do anything sexual or lewd in any way to you?"

"Wh-what are you saying Miu, of course he didn't!" Nui cried out and covered her face again, shaking from side to side as she was unable to contain her embarrassment.

Miu then turned towards Zhan with surprise.

"You really didn't?"

"I didn't." Zhan replied honestly. He didn't say something like 'I would never!' or 'do you really think I would do such a thing?' Because that would be ridiculous…of course he would.

Nui was a cute young girl, of legal age, a consenting, free thinking adult. She was adorable, a genuine cat-girl, and it was honestly crazy just how many of his boxes that she ticked. She ticked boxes that Zhan didn't even know he had until she ticked them.

Ahem, anyway…

"Good." Miu smiled and exhaled with relief.

"Are you just going to make sure that your sister stays a virgin forever then?" Zhan asked curiously, deepening both Nui's blush and her shame. Well, even Miu and Shia were struggling to remain as thick skinned as Zhan now.

"Of, of course not…"

"Ah, I guess you have a guy better than myself in mind." Zhan nodded seriously.

"You…hah, you're teasing me again, aren't you?" Miu suddenly smiled.

Zhan thought that Shia should take notes. Miu handled his teasing in a much more positive way than her.

Zhan helped Miu to bring her bags in, then introduced her to her new room. She didn't realise it when she first walked in, but Miu noticed that Zhan's place was somewhat…huge.

"You actually live here with Shia, just the two of you in this big place?" She asked in wonder.

"Huh?! I don't live with this guy, I moved in with Nui to make sure that he didn't try anything!"

"Oh?" Miu raised an eyebrow at Shia's oh so righteous claim and smirked. "I see."
