It is castrated version of sage mode.I understand what author is doing making Yami exploit this seal until he is able to make his own sage mode as his would be different because of chakra core. I just hope Yami could make his sage mode early and devour that cursed seal.
summoning contract doesn't necessarily mean sage mode and moreover if bats does have sage mode , it will be difficult to practice as his chakra is condensed due to chakra core . So basically Yami getting cursed seal is a quick power up until he is able to himself learn sage mode. Cursed seal makes host compatible with orochimaru chakra when using it. Cursed seal increase strength and enhances chakra volume so in conclusion to this chapter Yami will only get nature energy which increases his strength as cursed seal is isolated from his chakra pathway due to chakra core Yami won't have any increase in chakra volume and won't get in contact with orochimaru chakra.

Orochimaru always leaves a piece of his soul in the cursed seal, the only reason Sasuke turned out fine in the end is coz of the Indra's chakra so the soul in the cursed mark was not able to take over his body or cause permanent damage to his body or soul, what about our MC?
