"So… they all lost their consciousness after the marking?"Ava gobbled the sandwich. According to Matthew, she had been sleeping for two days. Two whole days without food and her stomach was rumbling.
Matthew nodded.
"And… some of them died?" she lifted an eyebrow.
"Usually weaker humans die. Yes."
"And this was not included in the books that I read."
"Yes."
"Why?" She started munching on another sandwich. Matthew insisted on giving her some healthier options. But she liked her sandwich. She would never choose any food just because it was elegant, something she couldn't even pronounce, over her bacons and cheese.
"The elders chose to remove it."
"That's stupid."
"What's stupid is you… asking me to mark you."
She smirked. "But you did. Didn't you?"
His eyes smoldered.
"I dreamt of you."
This made her stop chewing.
