"You look hot, Bella," Danny chimed and pushed a paper cup into Bella's hand.
"It's too early to drink," Bella told two of her friends, who had already supped down four shots.
"We need to warm up ourselves to enjoy the party more," Bethany said, swaying her body with the music.
"It is an immense crowd. I didn't expect this much," Bella told, rubbing her palm. No doubt half of the town had come. Isn't their college event?
"Free booze and music, who wants to skip, unless the person is you," Danny said and smiled.
"Okay, let's go to the field," said Bethany. "The seniors organized some games to fundraise for Penshaw's orphaned home," Danny added another line which was the main agenda of this year.
"Wow, great," replied Isabella. She didn't know about that. If this was the reason, then she would be happy to help their college.
Bethany whispered, "That's why college has allowed other college students in this event. The seniors use their brains well."
As they reached the field, Isabella noticed the crowd was busy playing. Everyone was wearing a mask except the seniors because they were supervising all the work. They went to their superiors when they found Mark dressed like a devil, but not wearing a mask.
"Senior, do you need hands?" Bethany asked when Mark noticed Isabella, an angel with hazel eyes.
"Bella, you look beautiful," Mark said and came to her while Bethany and Danny step aside, giving them some space. It happened every time an admirer saw Bella. They couldn't do except for rolling their eyes. Aren't they asking the senior if he needs help?
"Thanks. You didn't tell us about this program. Then we can help you," Isabella said with a humble smile, taking a step back from exciting Mark.
"We looked for all three of you yesterday. But you all didn't come to college," Mark replied. He looked for them yesterday because he desperately wanted Bella to work with him. Unfortunately, it didn't happen.
"Yes... We went on a trip to visit Bella's grandmother," said Danny, while Bethany held on to her laugh. Isabella's cheeks turned red, but no one could see because of the mask.
"O.. Great. Then I have no complaints. All of you can enjoy the games or you can help others backstage," Mark said when someone called him and he excused himself from them.
"Let's try the game first," Bethany said, pointing at Big punch. Isabella followed them there and buy tickets, only two.
Danny played twice but didn't beat Bethany and frustratingly beat the machine and complained it had a problem. Isabella laughed the whole time. In short, she was enjoying games.
Next was a high striker that Isabella found interesting. When she was a child, she used to play this hammering game whenever her mother took her to the PlayStation.
Isabella grabbed the hammer and swung but she heard a clicking sound as if someone had clicked her picture. She dropped the hammer and looked around.
"What happened?" Bethany asked and followed Bella's gaze where she was looking.
"I think someone just took a picture of me," murmured Bella. She felt the picture was clicked closely.
"I do not think so. If you're not wearing your mask, one of your admirers might have taken a picture of you, but with the mask on, you're barely recognizable," Danny said from behind and hit the pad with the hammer, instantly the puck touched the bell.
"Yikes!" Danny exclaimed. Bethany and Danny turned behind and saw jumping Danny. Bethany rolled her eyes and said, "We haven't seen you. It can not be counted."
"Shut up," Danny retorted.
"Bella," came to a voice named Isabella, and when they saw a man coming toward them, everyone narrowed their eyes.
"Who is this chick?" Danny grumbled.
"Hello, guys. Bella, let's go to a dance," said Noah. That's when Bethany and Danny realized that the man was actually Noah.
"Noah, O my god. Is that you? You look dapper," Bethany exclaimed loudly when Bella added, "I told him the same."
"Thank you ladies," Noah smiled, thanking them, and then asked Bella to dance with him.
"I'm terrible at dancing," replied Isabella with a dangling body and let out a sigh. She remembered her prom day when she danced and everyone laughed at her.
"I know, that's why I asked you," Noah said, making Bella curious. She did not get what he meant.
"I am also an awful dancer. You don't know because you didn't attend any event with me. Please be my partner," said Noah with an awkward smile. Although Bella didn't want to believe it, she didn't know how to turn it down.
"Well, do you have a partner for Bethany and Danny?" said Bella, looking back at her friends, who wad their eyes at Bella's drama.
"We don't need any. We are each other's partners. Let's go, Beth," said Danny, flicking her hair to Bella.
"You're both crazy," said Bella with a playful smile and looked at Noah, who held out his arm for Bella to hook her hand. Suddenly Bella's words made Noah laugh.
"Are we getting into a laughingstock?" Isabella asked with pouty lips. With her mask on, she still looked adorable.
"Maybe that will be fun too," Noah said as the two walked into the dance area.
It was also our relief for Bella that no one would recognize her, so there would be no gossip. However, she felt Noah was different today.
She didn't want to think about the consequences that Noah's action was pointing to because they were friends and she didn't want to ruin their friendship.
The area was not crowded. Some people were dancing, but the way they were dancing completely indicated that they were a couple. Isabella felt very bothered to see this. She blew a breath and faced Noah as they were about to hold each other. However, she had beautiful friends who went to the DJ and asked him to change the music and play some pop.
The whole romantic floor turned into a pop floor which attracted more students. For that, Bella didn't have to dance with Noah like a couple. A blissful smile appeared on her face. They all danced together rhythmically except for Bella, as she said she was terrible at dancing. Her gait was slow, and there was almost no movement.
In an instant, a bunch of girls pushed their group aside on the floor, and Bella broke out of the group. She frowned at them. Are they blind? Never mind, she was no longer in the mood to dance.
She searched her way out when she bumped into a sturdy figure who held her waist and prevented her from falling back.
"Thank you," said Isabella. Her voice didn't audible because of the music but her lip synch was discernible. Bella found the same man who had helped her with the mask earlier. The man did not talk to her but examined Bella. His pupils were red and dark. One thing that was evident to Bella was that he was wearing colored lenses. But why was he looking at her this way?
"Um... Plea... " Bella opened her mouth while she felt heat on her waist. Abruptly, the music changed to a slow, peaceful melody. They were in the same position when the man slowly helped her to stand and whispered, drawing his face near to Bella.
"Shall we dance?"
