"Hey, girls… Umm. How's Paoli?" Danny asked, along with Isabella and Bethany.
"As you care," one girl of Paoli's group rudely answered them. Last night because of Isabella she drank a lot and swore to take revenge on her but then they heard her accident news.
"Don't be rude, we are also human. Our mentality is not the same as yours," Bethany retorted back angrily when Isabella grabbed her arms and dragged both of them from that group.
"They're terrible," murmured Danny, while Isabella opened her mouth, "We can go to the hospital to visit her because we only have two classes today. There will be no fruit bickering with them."
"Let's go to the class," Bethany said, and they headed towards the class, but to their surprise outside their class, they heard their principal's voice, so they quickly reached the door.
With their arrival, everyone's attention turned toward them, and so did their principal. But a man was also standing next to their principal; as Isabella's eyes fell onto him, she quickly recognized that person. It was Xavier. The man she met last night at a bonfire.
"What is he doing here?" thought Isabella. Her scrutinizing gaze fell on the man, but her notion broke by the principal's voice.
"Come in," said the principal, and the three of them hurriedly ran towards the vacant seat. Isabella felt someone's burning eyes on her back and this went on until she sat down.
"Her heart said that the man next to the principal wasn't a good person, also isn't his arrival too suspicious?" her mind was still calculating Xavier while her eyes were focused on him to judge his personality, by noticing his movement, which she was pretty good at.
"Bella, why are you looking at the man this creepy way?" Danny whispered, peeking at Bella, who heard Danny but didn't turn her head toward her friend. But still gazed at Xavier and said, "Do you think he is a bad guy?"
"He looks womanizer, but who isn't nowadays?" Danny replied, still with a hushed tone, bending her head, not letting others listen.
"No, not this type of man, I mean another type of," Isabella spoke, placing her hand in front of her mouth just then Bethany replied instead of Danny, "Drug dealer or a killer, mmmm…. everything will look perfect with his look."
"Waste of time," responded Isabella, rolling her eyes. What she thought and what her friend suggested were completely different. While Xavier's mouth rose with a grin that went unnoticed because he had covered it with a good bluff, he coughed and the principal hurriedly held the bottle in front of him.
"So, if you already know that two of our college students met with horrific accidents, it is indeed a sad moment. They are both bright students as they are now fighting for their lives because of the effects of alcohol. You are all well educated and so mature to understand that drinking and driving is a terrible combination, but still many of you do the same thing every day. Don't do that, if you cherish your life," said the principal and his face reflected sorrow.
"Also, I'd like to introduce you all to this young man. He is our new management member, among others, Mr. Xavier. From now on you can ask him too if you have any problem or anything. And the last thing is that if you are thinking of going to the hospital, then don't crowd the hospital. But definitely visit them. It will encourage their parents and they will be happy, that our college and the students are with them," the Principal finished and everyone answered in unison,
"Yes, principal! We're with them."
Everyone stood as the principal left, but then everyone's eyes shifted to Xavier, only he was still in the room, and maybe there was something he would say to them. For an unknown reason, the whole classroom could not sit. They stared at Xavier who took out his phone from his jeans pocket and then looked up at everyone.
"Sit down, everyone," said Xavier and received a cheeky comment from one girl. "You're sexy, Mr. Xavier. If I get a chance,
"Huh! Thank you, Miss, but my parents won't allow me, I'm so sorry," said Xavier, and the laughter echoed out loud because everyone never thought Mr. Xavier would respond in this way.
"Hahaha! I'm satisfied," Danny laughed, holding her stomach, while Isabella slapped her hand to stop.
"Today Miss Julia can't take your class because she has a high fever, so she told me that next week, you all will have two extra classes. Thank you," announced Xavier, cheering everyone as they were free today, but Isabella wasn't because she was writing a thesis about the "Edwardian era," and needed Miss Julia's help.
"Miss Isabella, I have a few words for you," as soon as Xavier said, suddenly there was a long silence in the room. Some eyes are completely veered around with a lot of curiosity, and some of them are burning in jealousy, especially that girl who approached Xavier.
"Yes, sir," Isabella stood and answered politely, although she didn't want to. She couldn't do anything right now when Xavier already said in front of everyone.
"Okay class, now we will meet next time, also if you have any problem, as the principal said, you can ask me anything," Xavier said, showing his mesmerized smile. Those girls were not willing to leave yet. It's not every day they can soak their eyes with handsomeness. They are surprised that Bella caught this man's eyes which was unacceptable.
But there is nothing they could do. Before leaving, those girls only turned their envy eyes and glared at Isabella.
Bethany and Danny patted Isabella's shoulder before stepping out of the classroom.
"Bella, I really want to apologize for last night. I was drunk, so my mind wasn't working. I know you were hurt, and I didn't help you. That's why I am sorry," Xavier apologized, looking at the girl's hazel eyes, and the thing he noticed was suspicion. There was not a single emotion that could tell him that his words had worked on her.
"That's what you wanted to say," Isabella questioned, raising her brows at him with an odd expression.
'This can't be an important conversation, he just announced in front of everyone that he has something to talk about with her, which made her think he will ask her to do something or discuss something important as he was a member of her college management.
More than that why is he apologizing when she didn't count on him and didn't hope he could help her, they didn't know each other,' with this thought Isabella's brows dug deeper, as well as the wrinkle could be seen near her eyes.
"Yes, this is the thing. Honestly, I didn't sleep last night. Guilt was munching my head. And After I sobered up the first thing my heart wanted to just go and apologize to Isabella," this was another horrendous lie Xavier just seamlessly mouthed, and Isabella equally dusted off his every word with a smile, not appreciating kind of, it was like an uninterested smile.
"I've completely forgotten about last night's incident Mr. Xavier, and there is no need to ask forgiveness when we barely know each other," Isabella politely rejected his kindness and she was not a teenager who didn't know how to see through a person.
"So we're good, that means. Are you free? Can we have a coffee and talk? Know each other little." Xavier again tried to push Isabella to agree to his offer, but no avail.
"O. Um. Mr. Xavier, from the college we are going to meet Paoli, you know she had an accident, after that, I have a lot to do today so I guess next time will be," Isabella stretched her lips and gave a healthy smile which looked pretty though but only Isabella knew how hard was to smile when you don't want to.
"Yes, Miss Paoli. Don't you find it's strange?" raise a quick hiatus, Xavier closed his mouth while Isabella's smile vanished and her lips pinched.
"Last night she bad-mouthed about you and today we heard her tongue was cut off. Now she will never talk again. I'm truly sad," Xavier resumed with a blaming tone.
"Okay, Bella next time," Xavier said and left, giving her a friendly smile before Isabella could answer or ask questions about the meaning behind his words.
"What is he trying to imply?" Isabella murmured under her breath. When her phone vibrated, an email came in. To her surprise, it was from Luther's industry.
"Come to the office. You need to watch a clip about the script. The address is below."
But Isabella quickly emailed about her visiting her friends in the hospital. She waited for quite a few seconds in the alone classroom, but then, leaving a sigh, she started walking. She was in turmoil about what to do. They had decided already to meet Paoli and George, but this email hauled her into trouble.
"Hey, dude. I saw Mr. Xavier coming out, but you didn't. Were you managing your dress? That's why you took time to come out?" Danny's words tolled loudly while Bethany laughed, dancing her brows towards Isabella.
"Shut up. Listen… I think," Isabella was about to cancel the plan when her phone vibrated.
She quickly opened her mail. There were four words but felt like a command, "You have one hour."
