When Gus returned, he wasn't met with the expressions that he was expecting to see. Where he had guessed that the crew would be relieved that the boarders on board were gone, and had therefore expected to see expressions of focus, but with no sign of worry. Instead, he was met with grim expressions, ones that suggested something had gone wrong.
"They weren't civilian," Karl said, seconds after Gus returned.
"What do you mean? We knew that they weren't."
"The ships. They weren't civilian ships that pirates had taken," Karl clarified.
"They weren't? They had weapons on board?"
"They did. And it's nothing like anything that I have ever seen."
