At first, it was only a small number of Shenia that were drawn to the sudden noise. They gathered around the foot of the stairs that led to the diorama and looked up, their eyes drawn to the bright, orange light that came from the statue.

The realisation of what was going on at the top slowly creeping into their minds, they quickly began calling out for others to come over and what was going on.

Beside him, Gus heard Emmy and Joel wince as the cacophony of sounds below them began.

"They're so loud," Joel said, " and high pitched. It feels like an eardrum is going to explode."

"Do they sound like this for you?" Emmy shouted while covering her ears with her hands.

"Not really," Gus answered. "It just sounds like a group of people all yelling over each other."

"Must be nice," Joel muttered. "So," he began, a little louder, "what are they saying?"
