When Barbara woke up, she felt something in her mouth. She gasped before gagging and coughing the liquid in her throat as she looked around at where she was. It looked like Steve's pool but there was a dark blue hue to everything, the sky, the ground, the furniture.
The first thing she thought of was Nancy, " Hello? Nancy? Nancy! Hello!? " She shouted as loud as she could, Hoping for someone to hear her. She continued shouting for anyone, anyone to help her. When . . . . She stopped all of a sudden because she heard growling coming from the other side of the pool. She turned her head and came face-to-face with the faceless monster she saw behind her, Except this time The monster had Flower petal like things on its face, Barbara could see row after row of teeth in the monster's mouth as it stared at her. Its body was horrifying, Barbara squeaked lowly, trying not to draw its attention when it turned its head to something.
She quickly used the opportunity to race over to the pool ladder, Pulling her aching body up as fast as it would allow her, She was halfway up one of her shoes slipped, Making her shout a bit. That drew the monsters attention, as well as her hand that had resumed its bleeding. The thing ran after her, Making her scream and scramble up the ladder faster.
"Nancy!!" She shrieked, successfully kicking the monster int he head as she got out of the pool, She looked at the house before rushing in.
At Harrington's House, Steve's room. Time: Night, Real side. . . . Barbara's voice echoed from the Upside down, Nancy happened to hear it. Though only a little bit, She turned her head towards the window - - - Wondering if she was just hearing things- - - Steve noticed this, "Hey, Whats the matter?" He asked her, Kissing her neck as she moaned a bit, " Nothing . . . I just thought I heard Barb yelling . . . " She told him, letting him kiss her on the lips, " Don't worry about her, She's probably gone home by now. You should be focusing on me . . . " Steve chuckled, capturing her lips once more as they resumed their . . . Nightly activity . . .
At Upside down. . . .
Barbara burst into the house, closing and locking the door behind her. She hoped the Monster would leave, She waited a few seconds in silence before she sighed with relief, believing the monster had left . . . But When something thumped heavily against the door, she screamed. She backed up slowly, before deciding to not take the chance that it could get through. She ran to the stairs, rushing up the stairs. She expected for the other four to be panicking wondering what was making that sound but . . . None of them were . . . They were all preoccupied with their own things . . . She realised then that she wasn't . . . here. She was but . . . She wasn't. It didn't make much sense but it meant that the others were safe for now.
She quickly made her way downstairs, thanking her lucky stars that the thing hadn't broken through the door yet. She hurried out the front door, looking around before running down the road and sprinting to her car. She got in and slammed the door behind her, Wincing a bit. She stayed quiet for a bit before taking her keys and trying to turn her car on.
However, Her car wouldn't turn on. She groaned in frustration when she realised this, Tears started welling up in her eyes. She quietly swore under her breath when she saw the tall, lanky monster lumbering towards her car with low, inhumane Growls getting louder and Louder the closer it got to her.
She covered her mouth with her hand, whimpering softly as she choked back tears. She climbed into the back of her car and hid on the ground of the car, Silently yelling for Nancy in her head. She knew that she shouldn't have come to this party. She just knew it. She let out a muffled cry as she felt her eyes grow heavy, Probably from blood loss. She quickly looked at her hand. Absolutely thankful that it had stopped bleeding and was healing already before she ended up falling asleep somehow.
{A/N: I'm just gonna skip over the morning scene with Nancy and Steve, as well as the scene with Nancy and her mother. Sorry but if i don't get the story going a bit more then I'm gonna end up getting bored with it. I may come back and fill in the time skips at a later date though.}
At The Byer's house, Will's room. Time: Morning . . . .
Joyce was sitting on Will's bed, there were a bunch of lambs and light bulbs surrounding The bed. Joyce was speaking softly, " Will? Will? Sweetheart, can you hear me? Will . . . Please . . . Will . . . " She wiped away tears as she adjusted herself on the bed, " It's me . . . It's me. Just talk to me. . . . Talk to me . . J-Just s-say . . ." Joyce was stammering and tripping over her words as she tried to get some sort of reaction from the lights but nothing . . .There were no flickers, No pulating . . . Nothing . . .
Then Jonathan walked into the room, Finding his mother sobbing over Lamps and light, " Mom?" He called out, startling Joyce- - - Who snapped out of the small daze she had found herself in- - - She looked up and towards the doorway, where Jonathan was standing.
" Jonathan? " She quickly waved him over,
" C-Come here, Come h-here " She grabbed onto his arm, and pulled him over slightly, Letting him sit on the bed next to her, " Mom, W-What is this?" He questioned her, stammering a bit as he stared at the room in silent shock.
" C-Come here, Come here " She sniffled, holding onto her son, " What going on?" Jonathan was thoroughly confused about what was happening right now. His mother seemed crazy right now to him, "It's Will. It's Will, He's . . . He's trying to talk to me . . . " Her breath was trembling as she spoke through tears, her whole body being wrecked by shivers and trembling, tears continually rolling down her cheeks.
"He's trying to talk to you?" Jonathan found this whole thing almost impossible to believe, " Yes, Through . . . through . . . the lights . . . " Joyce stuttered, trying to explain what she saw to her eldest son. But Jonathan just tried to calm his mother down, he couldn't handle seeing her like this.
"Mom- - - " I know . . . . I know. Just . . . Just watch. Will . . . your brother's here. Can you show him what you showed me, baby? Please . . . " Joyce cutt Jonathan off, knowing what he was going to say. She kew how this looked, She knew that she looked crazy but . . . But Her baby really was here. Will really was trying to communicate with her. She knew it.
Suddenly, One of the exposed light bulbs flickered on for a few brief seconds before turning off again, "Did you see that?" She turned to Jonathan, who had a tired expression on his face. He was worried for his mother and her emotional and mental state, "It's the electricity, Mom" He reasoned with her, his hand perched on her shoulder, " I-It's just acting up".
But Joyce Byers wasn't one to be reasoned with if she was truly convinced of something, " No" She exclaimed, standing up from the bed and pacing around a bit, "It's the same thing that fried the Phones! Its not the Electricity, Jonathan. Something is going on here!" She shouted, running her fingers through her hair as she sat back down on the bed to try and calm her nerves.
"Yesterday, The Wall - - - " Jonathan frowned, "What? What about the Wall?" He questioned her, Jonathan kew his mother was simply sleep deprived and it was making her hallucinate. He watched his mother struggle to get her words out as she moved her arms around " I-I just know Will is here " She insisted, She wouldn't give up her baby if there was a chance that he was still out there somewhere. Jonathan sighed, He grabbed his mothers hand to try and pull her back to reality, " No, Mom" He adamantly told her, hoping for her to see how insane she sounded right now.
Joyce just took her hand away from her son, Standing back up as she grabbed her hair, " M-Maybe if I get more lamps- - - " But Jonathan was getting tired of this, He was tired of everything. He just wanted his brother back so everything could go back to normal.
"No, Mom. You don't need more lamps. You need to stop this, Okay? He's just lost. People are . . are looking for him, and they're going to find him" Jonathan firmly reassured his mother, who slowly calmed down a bit, "O-Okay" She mumbled, sitting back down on Will's bed, still decorated neatly with his pillows and blankets. It's almost like he never left, Joyce had wished so hard that all of this was just a dream but everytime she opens her eyes, Her baby is still missing. Still gone.
"This isn't helping"
"Okay, Okay. I'm sorry" Joyce sniffled as she wiped her tears on her sleeves, "I'm sorry" She took a few deep breaths in before exhaling slowly. She finally got herself to stop shaking, "Can you do me a favour, Mom? Can you just try and get some sleep?" Jonathan gently requested, resting his hand on her shoulder once more.
"Yeah"
"Can you do that for me?"
"I promise. I will"
"Yeah?"
"Yeah, I just need to sit here for a minute" Joyce sniffled, smiling softly at Jonathan. Jonathan sighed, "All right, I'll go make breakfast" He informed her, She nodded her head,"Okay". Jonathan walked out the room, glancing at his mother once more before walking down the hallway to the kitchen.
Joyce, once she was alone, started sobbing silently. She rested her head in her hands, brining her knees up to her chest as she clenched her mouth shut, not wanting to alarm Jonathan.
At The Wheeler's house, Basement. Time: Morning . . .
Mike, Dustin and Lucas were standing around, Planning out how they were gonna go about looking for Will. Mike came up with something, "We just tell our parents we have AV club after school. That'll give us at least a few hours for Operation Mirkwood" He proposed, leaning his hands on the table.
The three boys were gathered around their table, Twelve and Eleven were sitting on the couch. Eleven was once again messing with the supercomm While Twelve was laying his head on her lap, Rory still in his hands. They weren't paying attention to the boys conversation, not caring enough to listen in. Eleven started getting Frustrated with the Supercomm, She grunted and Huffed before handing it Twelve to try.
Twelve took it from her before smiling brightly at her, She felt her frustration fading when she saw him smiling. She loved her brother's smile, It always made her feel better whenever she saw it. You see, They have a special connection. They've had it since they were really young. Whenever one was feeling Upset, Sad, Happy, angry or any other emotion, The other one would feel it too. This included Pain, among other things. However, Twelve had much more mellow emotions than EL, so it made it hard for her to feel how he felt sometimes. Anyway, Twelve sat up silently, Still leaning on El as he began messing with the Supercomm.
MeanWhile, the boys . . .
" You seriously think that the Weirdo's know where Will is?" Lucas doubted, Mike sighed again for the Nth time today, "Just trust me on this, Okay?" He knew that Lucas was still suspicious of the pair but he felt like he could trust them for some reason.
"Okay" Lucas sighed, letting his shoulder sag down a bit. Mike let out a sigh of relief, "Did you get the supplies?" He remembered, He had told Lucas and Dustin to go out and bring over some supplies for their search. Lucas nodded his head, Turning around to grab his backpack. He unzipped it before rummaging through it for the supplies had managed to grab, "Yeah. Binoculars . . .From 'Nam. Army knife . . . Also from 'Nam. Hammer, Camouflage bandana . . . and the wrist rocket" He set them all on the table as he read out what he had packed.
Dustin Snickered, "You're gonna take out the Demogorgon with a slingshot?"
"First of all, It's a wrist rocket. And Second of all, The Demogorgon's not real. It's made up but If there is something out there, I'm gonna shoot it in the eye . . . and blind it" Lucas demontrasted, pulling the rubber part of the slingshot and letting it go, it made a loud snap sound that startled Dustin and Mike.
Mike sighed, Shaking his head, "Dustin, What'd you get?" He asked his other friend - - - Who perked up at the sound of his name, "Well alrighty, So we've got . . . Nutty bars, Bazooka, Pez, Smarties, Pringles, Nilla Wafers, apple, Banana and trail Mix" He listed out, turning his backpack upside down and letting all the snacks fall out onto the table.
Mike and Lucas sweatdropped, "Seriously?" He smacked his forehead, sighing as he looked at the table with an incredulous expression hanging on his face. Dustin shrugged his shoulders, "We need energy for our travels. For stamina. And besides, Why do we even need weapons anyway? We have them" Dustin pointed over to Twelve and Eleven. Eleven looked up at the boys, tilting her head to side, not knowing why they were looking at her and Lev. Twelve wasn't paying attention them still, Focused on the Supercomm.
"She shut one door! And we still don't know if the other one has powers" Lucas argued but Dustin was adamant of convincing Lucas to try and trust the pair a little bit, "With her mind! Plus, Mike told us that Lev saw Will, Remember?" He shouted with a matter-of-fact tone.
"Thats insane! Imagine all the other cool stuff they could do. Like . . . I bet . . . Bet El could make this fly!" Dustin removed a blanket that was covering a gray plastic star war Y-Wing {A/N: Forgive me if that's incorrect. I haven't seen Star Wars before} and went back over to the couch where El and Lev were resting.
"Hey. Hey" He got El's attention, as well as Lev's, He held the Y-Wing out for El, "Okay, Concentrate. Okay? " He let go of the Y-wing, expecting it to float in the air but it crashed down to the ground instead. Dustin nervously chuckled, "Okay, Lev, Why don't you try? Use your powers, Okay?" Dustin clarified, Looking over at Twelve- - - Who was staring back at him.
Unfortunately, The Y-Wing crashed to the ground again. Lucas muttered an "Idiot" that was directed towards Dustin. Eleven looked very disinterested in what they were doing, Twelve was still staring Dustin in the eyes, His eyes were blank of emotion- - - Which was starting to freak Dustin out. Mike quickly picked the Y-Wing up and put it on the table, "They're not dogs!" He sighed, snapping Dustin out of his staring contest with Twelve.
"Boys! Time for school!" Karen yelled from behind the Basement door, Lucas and Dustin hurriedly got ready before rushing up the stairs, Closing the door behind them. Mike knelt down in front of El and Lev, "Just stay down here. Don't make any noise, and Don't leave. If you get hungry, eat Dustin's snacks, Okay?" Twelve and Eleven nodded their heads when Karen yelled down the stairs again, "Michael!"
"COMING!" He screamed loudly, Scaring El and Lev- - - Who flinched and moved back slightly. Mike noticed this and apologised, "Sorry. Um, You know those power lines?" He inquired, standing up from the ground, "Power . . Lines?" El tilted her head to the side slightly, "Yeah. The one's behind my house?" Twelve nodded his head, He knew where Mike was talking about, "Yes" He answered softly.
" Meet us there, After school" He informed them, Confusion was coding the siblings eyes, "After school?" Eleven Bemused, Leaning her head on Twelve's head- - - Which was rested on her shoulder. Mike nodded his head, "Yeah, 3:15" He said but paused when he saw the bewilderment on the pair's face.
"Ah" He took off the watch he was wearing and put it on Twelve's wrist, "When the numbers read Three-One-Five, Meet us there" Mike told both of hem but his gaze resting more on Twelve, who repeated what he said, "Three-one-five"
Mike nodded his head, "Three-one-five" He then grabbed his backpack and headed upstairs, waving to the pair quickly before disappearing behind the basement door- - - Leaving the two kids by themselves.
At Hawkin's High school, Hallway. Time; Morning . . .
Nancy was walking down the hall to her locker, She squeezed the books in her arms a little tighter as she passed crowds of people. She felt like they were looking at her, whispering about her, Laughing at her. It made her feel extremely uncomfortable and unable to look up and meet anyone's eyes. She kept her gaze settled on the floor until she made it to her locker. She quickly unlocked it and put her books on to the shelves When Steve suddenly popped up at the side of her locker, "Hey!" He scared her, making her jump a little as she turned to look at Steve- - -Who had a big smile on his face.
"Hey" She replied weakly, chuckling nervously as she looked at the people in the hallway. Steve could see that she seemed nervous about something, "Is everything okay?" He Implored, Leaning his back on the Gray lockers, "Yeah! Yeah, Totally. I just . . . . I feel like everyone's . . . . staring at me" She hesitantly answered him, Peeking at the whispering students that passed by them.
"Oh, I didn't . . . I didn't tell anyone" He hurriedly reassured her, putting his hands up in a surenderning pose. Nancy quickly shook her head, " I know. I know. Of course not. But what about, like, Tommy, and Carol and them?" Nancy lowered the volume of her voice so she wouldn't draw unnecessary attention towards the two of them as she shut her locker, different books in her arms now.
Steve chuckled, "You're being paranoid" He reassured her, patting her shoulder softly, "I'm sorry" She apologised, turning to face him as she sighed. Steve shook his head, "No. No, It's cute" He smiled at her, stepping closer, "Hey . . . I had a good time last night"
Nancy smiled back, "Yeah. Yeah, Me too" They both chuckled softly, both leaning in until their lips touched. They kissed for a few seconds before pulling away when the bell rang, They smiled at each other before parting and going to their respective classes.
At Nancy's Homeroom (I don't know the teacher's name), Time: Morning. . .
Nancy entered her Homeroom, She walked to her seat that was in the second or third row. She looked at the seat in front of her but Didn't see Barbara there. She waited a few seconds, wondering if she was running behind but even after class has started, Barb didn't show up.
She tapped the girl in front of Barbara's seat, Gaining her attention, "Hey, Ally. Where's Barb?" She asked her but received a shrug of the shoulders as Ally turned slightly, "Um, Shouldn't you know?" Nancy felt concern start to fill her heart, "You haven't seen her anywhere . . . At all?" However, Ally ignored Nancy's questions and turned back to the front.
Nancy was concerned, Barbara had never been late for class. So why wasn't she here?
At Hawkin's lab, Front Gate. Time: Morning. . . .
Hopper's Chevy blazer pulled up to the front gate, Where the security booth was stationed. Callahan and Poweel were in the car too, Callahan was in the passenger seat While Powell was in the back seat. Powell and Callahan were having a discussion about the lab, "There she is, Emerald City" Powell made jazz hands in the back seat.
"I heard they make space weapons in there" Callahan commented, Powell raised his eyebrows, "Space weapons?" He repeated unimusingly. Callahan nodded his head, "Yeah. You know, Like, Reagan's star wars" He clarified, looking back at Powell from his seat, "I guess we're gonna blow the ruskies to smithereens" He added, smiling to himself.
Hopper tuned out their conversation as he rolled down his window, The guard walked over to the window in the booth, "Hey, Can I help you?" He asked, setting down the clipboard in his hand. Hopper nodded his head, "Uh, Yeah. We're here for a tour". Unfortunately, Guard shook his head, "Oh, We don't give tours" He answered Hop- - - Who sighed- - -"Okay . . . A quick look around then" He proposed but the guard shook his head again.
"You have to get clearance for that. You can contact, uh . . . . Rick Schaeffer at the department of energy" The guard informed Hopper, Who could feel a headache forming in the back of His head. Hopper adjusted himself in his seat so he could lean out the window a bit, "Maybe you seen it on TV. We got a local kid that's missing. We have reason to believe him and - - - Possibly- - - - Another missing kid snuck in here" He explained, rubbing his temples slightly.
But the guard was adamant about him getting clearance first, "Like I said, You have to speak to Mr. Shaeffer" By this time, Hopper was full on irritated. He turned off the car engine, Sighing as he turned to the guard. "What's your name?" Hopper asked the guard, "Patrick" He answered cautiously.
"Patrick, I got a panicked mayor, and I got reporters breathing down my neck and I got a very upset mother. Now, I know the kids aren't in there, but I gotta check off this box. Patrick, would you do me a favour? Would you speak to your boss and see what you can swing for us? I'd really appreciate it. I'm talkin' ten minutes, Tops" Hopper could see Patrick consider what he said before nodding his head, turning to a phone in the booth. Hopper sighed with relief, wiping away the sweat that had started forming on his brow.
Thank god, Hopper thought to himself.
