The Fucking Good Masters

Meeren, Essos, 9th Moon of 275 AC

The city of Meereen was one of the most beautiful and disturbing things Ragnar had ever seen. The social inequality was so bad that one would think that Meereen was actually two cities, one made of stone and shit and the other made of Gold and Silver. It made sense; it was a slaver city after all.

Ragnar's plans for Meeren were to buy some slaves, free them and offer them a new life in Skagos. Ragnar needed experienced miners, farmers, and builders. Ragnar also needed teachers; he wanted to make his people literate; he would create schools; these schools would have three main goals, make the Skagossi children loyal to House Dovahkiin, make the foreign children more Northern by indoctrination, and make sure every family had at least one literate person, this person would read Ragnar's accomplishments ( in war times) and decrees. He planned to make the next generation as loyal to him as the North is devoted to House Stark.

Ragnar was walking the "golden" streets of Meereen, what he saw made him be in a bad mood. Slavery was a crime against nature, in Ragnar's not so humble opinion. He was contemplating the idea of killing the Good Masters and being done with it, but the cons of these ideas were FAR more significant than the cons… Ragnar was having a hard time deciding between his reason and emotion

'I was supposed to keep evil at bay…well, evil is at bay… the fucking slaver's bay,' Ragnar thought.

He wanted to help these people, but if he did so, then HIS people would be helpless; they needed him there, which was what held Ragnar's heart for the moment…

Ragnar had cast translation spells on himself, both for hearing and speaking; he didn't want to be mocked like The Mother of Dragons" was.

As he was heading to speak with a representative of the Good Masters, Ragnar had a "no new friends" face; the people on the street opened the way for him; he was a very imposing figure, after all.

Ragnar got to a very luxurious house; according to the citizens, this was the place where he would schedule a meeting with the Good Masters.

"Greetings, Slaver," Ragnar's distaste and disdain while saying the word was almost palpable. "I come to seek an audience with your masters."

"Greetings, Stranger. The Good Masters are busy people; they don't talk to savages and people who own nothing," said the man… he wore some fine clothes, very colorful and corny...

"Careful, Slaver, you do not know me; your masters would be very disappointed if they lost what I would offer them in exchange for the Freedom of some of their Slaves..." Ragnar said, his tone as sharp as knives...

"Tell me, stranger, what do you have to offer the Good Masters? They talk gold and valuables! They won't accept cattle or furs," the man said, the smile never left his face…

"If you offend me one more time…" Ragnar began to say but was interrupted by a guard; he put a hand on Ragnar's shoulders and said

"We don't take threats lightly here, Stranger."

"Take your filthy hands off me, mortal! If you ever touch me again, your head will go on his ass…." Ragnar said to the guard, and then he looked at the Slaver.

" I have gold, and I have this," Ragnar said as he unsheathed a Skyforge Steel Sword.

"Valyrian Steel!! Hey you worm, tell the Good Masters of this..." The man said sterically to a servant, who ran out of the house towards the pyramid; the man then looked at Ragnar and said:

"Yes, good sir. The Good Masters will arrive shortly."

Regnar chose not to comment on the man's behavior change and just sat while he waited for the "Good Master"'s arrival.

The Good Master arrived 40 minutes after the man gave his servant the order to call them there. They all looked like what Ragnar would call scum. Fat, ugly, and with a superiority complex that could be seen from miles away.

"Greeting, Slavers... I've come to bargain," Ragnar calmly said.

"Greetings, Stranger. What is your name? we don't trade with ghosts after all." Said one of the Good Masters

"My name is not to be spoken by your mouths; we have business to make, not friends."

"Oh, so you are a Westerossi. Only Westerossi has such hate towards our trade… But I shall not press the matter… Tell me, what do you want from us?" Said the same Good Master.

" I want to buy the freedom of 10.000 of your slaves, 200 battleships, and the sailors. As a Payment, I would give you this Sword and 2700 gold... What say you?"

( I'm taking under consideration that a noncombatant slave is worth a silver coin, as it was what the Wise Masters paid for the baby's the unsullied had to kill)

"Your offer is good, but not good enough! We want the sword and 3000 gold…" said a fat Good Master

"Your counter offer is good, but not good enough, the Sword and 2600 gold… and one cooked stake," Ragnar mocked the man, who got red with anger…

"Then we have no deal, stranger," Said one of the Good Masters

"Then it seems we don't… I'm sure the Wise masters would appreciate the sword," Ragnar said as he turned his back and began to walk away.

" WAIT… If the offer still stands, then we have a deal…" Said one of the Good Masters. This one was rather skinny but looked as snobbish as the other

"The offer stands… but the man I want must be at least decent at one of these four things, building, mining, farming, and reading... If you could get me these types of men and women, then I'll give you a Valyrian Steel Dagger..." Ragnar said calmly

"We have a deal."

The Good Master honored their part of the deal, and three days after they closed the deal, Ragnar was called to receive his "merchandise." Ragnar did as he was asked and went to see the slaves. They were made of 60% men and 40% women; the Good Masters assured him the woman knew how to work; most of them were miners. Once he gave the fat Good Master the sword and the gold, he gave him a totem, which sealed the deal. Ragnar then freed All the slaves and offered them two options

1- Go to Skagos with Ragnar, where they would never be captured and sold ever again and could start an excellent new life

Or

2- He would give them one gold dragon so they could try to build a life in Essos

Only 1000 or so picked the second offer. ( all were men)

Ragnar then told them to go to the ships and wait; they would depart in three days.

Ragnar paid for someone to take food to the ex-slaves during these three days.

Ragnar was getting ready to depart for Skagos, and was just buying the last grains needed for his trip. It was then that he saw a man being captured by the city Guards, man had brown hair and beard; he wore some simple Westerossi clothes

"Please don't take me, prisoner. I'm just a simple smuggler. I didn't steal from anyone! I was transporting the goods," the man said. His pleas fell in deaf ears since the guards didn't speak the common tongue.

" If you don't want to die an excruciating death, you will let the Westerossi go… taking a Westerosi as a slave in the presence of another westerossi is not a wise decision… we are bound by law to try to stop it…." Ragnar said as he effortlessly took the smuggler from the guard's grasp. The guard had to look up to see Ragnar's face… if he even thought of confronting Ragnar, he didn't say. He just nodded and left…

"Thank you, m'lord, thank you…." Said the smuggler

"What is your name, smuggler?"

"My Name is Davos of Flea Bottom, m'lord," said the now-named Davos…

"Hum, I heard of you… I just can't remember where from," Ragnar lied. Davos was one of his favorite characters when he was the old him…

"Would you like to serve under House Dovahkiin, Davos of Flea Bottom?" Ragnar said...

" Yes, m'lord. I would be honored to, but why would you offer a smuggler like me an offer to serve under your house?" Replied Davos…

"Call it a sixth sense, my friend… come with me; we depart to Westeros in a few hours," Said Ragnar
