Bekah's Party

[Mandy's Diary 17th years old]

As Written on Rebekah's birthday invitation, this was a costume party type. Candice and I decided to wear different costumes. The angel on my shoulder seduced me to choose the Red Riding Hood as my costume. Candice spent almost all day looking for a suitable costume. And I didn't know why she chose to wear the Wonder Woman costume. Very, very far from my expectations. I thought… she would come to my house wearing a potato costume.

"My sister chose the Wonder Woman costume," Candice said as soon as we stepped on the floor of Rebekah's super geeky house. No need to be surprised. To be popular, you had to—no, you must be rich be rich. That's why Rebekah was on the popular student list because she was rich. Every day, she used to go to school by car, but none of them was the same. She might even have her own car shop at home—obviously much more luxurious than my parents' car at our rotten garage.

I stepped inside carefully. The room was already filled with birthday decorations. A variety of fresh flowers were placed in every corner of the room. The lighting in the hall was brighter than in the swimming pool. From the moment we walked in from the main door to the pool, everyone's eyes were on us. I wasn't sure of my appearance seeing the various stares that were thrown right at my forehead.

Rebekah's pair of sharp, intimidating eyes landed on us. Oh, damn. I knew that look. She gave a big smile, before finally walking cheerfully toward us. I swallowed hard at her dazzling appearance. For some reason, it seems that she was fitted in such a demonic outfit. Not only did it fit her body size, but her body and soul also reflected the devil—I swear.

"Finally, you came! I thought you guys were too cowardly—err, I mean, too busy attending my lousy party like this," Rebekah said pleasantly upon our arrival.

Was she kidding? Lousy? Having all her school friends in attendance, famous guest stars like Simple Plan, and colorful decorations were lousy? She must be kidding.

"At first she didn't want to come. She said she wanted to show off her new look."

Hearing Candice's reply like that, I spontaneously rolled my eyes and pinched her thigh, making her scream in pain while rubbing her thigh which I guaranteed was red.

"I appreciate your invitation, Bekah," I replied with a wide smile.

Rebekah cracked a smile so that a row of clean and tidy teeth could be seen, like a toothpaste advertisement model. Her eyes moved wildly observing my appearance from top to bottom. Her lips pursed crookedly, assessing what the change in my appearance was like. I'm sure in her heart she was admiring my appearance.

"If you want, you can walk around. Please, don't be shy." Again Rebekah's wide mysterious smile was displayed.

I just responded with my lips curled inward. She walked gracefully away from me, choosing to hang out with her friends by the pool.

I think… I passed the test. Maybe she intended to invite me because she was sure I wouldn't be able to stay on her top. Hah! Look at me now. She's even under me.

Please, defend me. Say yes.

"Mandy." At the side, Candice nudged my arm gently, making me practically turn my head following the corner of her eye which was being sent in a direction.

For the sake of Medusa's hair! That's Justin Bedington! Oh, my God… it felt like my heart was going to burst out of its socket. He looked stunning at the far end of the room, in full William Turner suit. My hand moved slowly to my chest—I could feel it pounding so hard. It's a thrill that would never end, even until I died. I was so crazy about him. And it suffocated me a bit because I knew he wasn't the right person for me.

"He's a descendant of nobility, you're just an ordinary girl, keep dreaming well," the devil on my shoulder laughed mockingly. My shoulders drooped limply realizing that one thing. Yes… he's even a descendant of royalty. It's impossible to be attracted to a commoner like myself.

"You can go there. Approach him. Pretend to take food or something," Candice whispered encouragingly.

A frustrated sigh escaped my mouth. "But…"

"No buts, Mandy!" Candice pushed my back forward. Her glaring forced me to approach the crowd of popular boys. I squeezed my palm and formed it into a strong fist. No way… I couldn't possibly start first… I was in no position to approach him…

"Okay, I'll get to him." A wide smile tugged at my lips, causing Candice to show her thumbs up encouragingly.

With certain steps I've never given before, I walk confidently over to the long table where Justin and some of his friends are busy chatting. I've never even walked like a catwalk model like this. I hoped there's nothing wrong with the way I walk, even though I've sprained my leg a few times with these damn stilettos.
