Budding Love

Meanwhile, in the other room, Alec stared at his answering machine, dazed, as the voice of the girl continued to reverberate in his ears.

Suddenly he snapped out of his stupor when the shouts and spankings came from the other room's bastard father.

"What in the name of the holy devil is that?" Alec screamed at the magical book, his mind reeling from the prospect of what he was about to embark on.

"Ding"

The sound of the answering machine drew his attention back to the girl and her sweet voice, which had been filled with concern.

"Huff"

He took a deep breath and pushed his thoughts away before picking up his mobile phone and dialing the number that had been left on the answering machine to return the call.

"Ringggg…

Ringgg...Ringgg..."

"How are you today, Alec?"

Alec's foul mood was instantly lifted when a sweet voice came over the phone from the other end, forming a soft smile on his face as he heard it.

"It is, in fact, me." Alec responded in a hushed tone, feeling uneasy due to a lack of communication on his part with the others in the situation. she didn't have any friends, and as a result, no one had ever called him, with the exception of his mother on some rare occasions.

"Alec, how are you doing today? I hope you haven't been punished in any way." she inquired, her heart ached for him, and she was worried about him.

"No, I told you correctly, my father is very understanding as far as I am aware; he simply wants to ensure that I am behaving appropriately and that I am getting back on track."

"Ohh…"

"I suppose that's a good thing. So, umm, how about we meet up on the bus tomorrow morning?" Because she was perplexed by what he had just said, the girl responded in an awkward manner, but the knowledge that he would not be punished alleviate her concerns.

"Yes, let's get together on the bus the next morning." Alec responded calmly, completely unaware of how strange his words sounded at the time.

As they both struggled to find the right words to say to each other, an awkward silence developed between them; however, just as Alec thought she had cut the call short, he heard her voice on the other end.

"All right, Alec, I've got to go, it's bedtime, bye." "Good night"

"Tooot…tooot…"

Jenny blushed in embarrassment as she held the phone in her palms and attempted to speak to Alec in an awkward manner.

'I don't know why I was being so awkward with Alec; now he might think I'm some weirdo who can't communicate properly over the phone.'

'Ughhhhhhh'

It was in her mind that she let out an exasperated scream and scolded herself for being so stupid.

In the end, she shook her head, thinking about how much better she would be at conversing with Alec, and then she covered herself with the duvet and drifted off to Lala land.

Alec looked at the mobile for a few seconds before his face slowly returned to its previous coldness as he turned around and stared intently at the books as he spoke to them.

"I would greatly appreciate it if you could provide me with an explanation for what has just occurred. Please do not try to mislead me with your words; I am fully aware of what occurred. The voices attempted to persuade me to kill that cretin."

"I'm not sure what you're talking about, Alec. No one forced you to do anything. You were the one who attempted to cast a spell on your father, after all. I am simply a book that provides you with information; nothing more and nothing less. How you employ them is entirely up to you."

As the book came to the end of its speech, Alec looked at them silently before slowly nodding his head and whispering to them.

"You are correct; the use of the powers is entirely up to me. I don't want to be harsh on you or anyone else, but it would be better for you if you avoided attempting to influence me in the future with your little tricks."

After finishing what he had to say, he climbed into bed and laid on his stomach, where he promptly fell asleep.

'Damn that human girl, she is destroying everything.' The book thought to itself as its gaze lingered on Alec and the book glowed as a red orb left it and dashed out of the room towards Alec's parents' bedroom.

Both of his parents were lying on the bed naked and asleep as the orb entered the room, it floated in air for a few moments as if thinking then it dived towards the body of the father and disappeared into his head.

His body spasmed for a few seconds and everything returned to normal again as it was before.
