Chapter 1

Yeah, this changed things. Not in a bad way but still, the fact that an unknown of this magnitude had been shoved into my face was kind of… upsetting.

Fortunately the thought of magic balanced that out. Sure the wizards of Harry Potter were nothing compared to the sorcerers of Marvel or the homo magi of DC universe but their magic was still pretty much low level reality warping. Something that neither I or Hyperstorm would ever reject.

"John." Hmm, oh Marie, the old nun who was taking care of the orphanage. A kind but stern woman that had been taking care of the majority of orphanage with minimum help.

"Yes, miss Marie?"

"There is someone who wishes to meet you. She said that she was from a school for talented kids." Old lady said as she opened the door while I was wondering why would Hogwarts send a letter if they were gonna send a teacher on the same day the letter would come.

The woman who came into my room was wearing a green flannel shirt and skirt. Her eyes were gazing at me from behind her glasses and her hair was done in a bun.

"Hello mister Richards. My name is Minerva Mcgonagall." The arguably best teacher of Harry Potter universe introduced herself to me and I had to use Hyperstorm's years of poker face experience to hide my shock.

The woman before me definitely did not look like she did in the movies or described in the books. She was young. Not exactly just out of school young but she looked like she was barely in her thirties rather than sixty something in the books.

"It is nice to meet you miss Mcgonagall." I said with a smile as I attempted to get up from my seat but I was stopped by the not so old witch as she raised her hand.

"Please do not get up mister Richards. This conversation is better done sitting." She said as she sat down on one of the spare chairs in the room. And then started to give her speech about magic, Hogwarts and how going there would be very good for me.

<POV Change>

Minerva Mcgonagall had been a teacher for decades in one of the most prestigious magic schools in all of the world. This meant she was used to children, especially children who were little shits since for some reason all little shits ended up either in her house or in Slytherin. The point is she had been hardly surprised by children in more than a decade.

Jonathan Reed Richards was a surprising child.

His mannerisms, manner of speech and his eyes, they were all... un-childlike.

He never interrupted her when she talked and kept his questions till the end of their talk, even though he should be far too excited to contain himself.

The matron of the orphanage had told her that Jonathan was very mature and different from other children but this was less mature for a child and more along the lines of ridiculous.

She wondered whether that was due to living in an orphanage but the other children that she had seen were very normal and looked well taken care of. Though even if those things could be evidence to contrary, she still could not be sure that her first line of thought was wrong for one reason.

She had seen it in the people who worked in the orphanage and the matron's eyes. They were definitely unnerved by young Jonathan, if not fully afraid of him.

It was times like this that Minerva wished that she had learned mind arts beyond Occlumency so that she could properly learn exactly what had happened between the young boy and the people of the orphanage.

Though she could not fully blame them for being unnerved either, only a little bit. The boy was far too mature, Minerva knew that having magic tended to make people mature faster than muggles and even then there would be at least one or two children who would be classified as 'dumb bastards' in school by teachers behind the door even if Severus liked the word 'dunderhead' more.

Jonathan Richards was far too mature even for a magical child. Throughout their talks Minerva had to remind herself that she was talking to a boy who wasn't even a first year rather than a third year. It was… disorienting.

It also made her hope that she could get him in Gryffindor because by Morgana's sacking tits her house needed someone actually mature in it or they would never get the house cup back from Slytherin!

Him being mature enough to unnerve her did not matter in the end. He accepted his invitation to Hogwarts which meant that he was a student and he would be treated fairly. Unless he was in Gryffindor in which case Severus would be a mean bastard to him.

He had kept his mature attitude when they walked out of the orphanage, except when some people steered clear of him, his eyes got a twinkle that she had seen in Albus' eyes many times over the years, a twinkle of amusement.

The only time he had been anything but calm was after they had apparated into the Diagon Alley, he looked shaken after that but from the way he looked around him Minerva decided that was because of the apparition rather than the Alley.

It was kind of sad. The greatest joy of being the one to introduce muggleborns to Magical World was to see their reaction. The starry eyes of wonder and awe along with their bodies shaking in excitement for the unknown. It was a sight that had always warmed her heart. It was also a wonder she herself had experienced even if she was a half blood, rather sad that there would be a child who wouldn't be excited or surprised by the Diagon Alley.

Hopefully getting a wand would actually excite him.
