CHAPTER 50: Until we get out of here.

When Sirin woke up he was still a Naga, indicating that he now had better control over his shapeshifting ability and could stay in a certain form even if he passed out.

He wasn't sure if his horn had regrown already so he decided to stay like this so that Amanda wouldn't worry about him if that wasn't the case.

Before getting up he took a quick look at the system. Because he had killed a lot of people back in the other world and not all of them seemed to be human, he was hoping that he might have unlocked a new form or received a new bloodline. However, much to his disappointment the only new bloodline was that of the Tokoloshe.

Still rubbing the sleep out of his eyes, he slid over the stone floor towards the cave's exit.

Once he was outside, he curled around the rock in front of Amanda and took the magic filled knife out of his pocket dimension.

Here he tried to find a way that could save both Amanda and her son while preferably leave Sirin with enough energy so that he wouldn't pass out as they were at their most vulnerable.

"So, we might finally leave this place?" Amanda eventually asked as she saw Sirin create multiple small, glowing objects.

Sirin looked up from his work and nodded. "If it works, yes."

"I see. Then what about everyone else here?"

Sirin shrugged. "I don't know. Maybe they will fully die at one point or find a way to get out of here as well."

"So, you will just leave them behind?" Amanda asked as she looked at all the other people nailed to the ground.

"Yea. I don't see a reason to take them with. And I doubt that you could form a meaningful bond with them through their melangolic whispers. They're as good as dead anyway."

She sighed and decided to change the subject. "What are you ging to do after this?"

Sirin was focusing on his work again yet still answered. "What do you mean?"

"Well, its like your entire life up until this point was centred around freeing me. But when I'm free, what is it that you want to do?"

He stopped for a moment and stared at the colourful sparks of magic in front of him. "I… I don't know. I mean, maybe I want to find out more about my shapeshifting ability or my actual parents. But its just kind of useless you know? Yes, I would like to know just for the sake of knowing it. But then what? There are so many more things I would like to know and worlds that I would like to see that this hardly matters. But I also don't want to be just a tourist in other worlds."

"Then what is it that you do want?"

Sirin shrugged. "I just feel like all your mortal things are so utterly useless. You build your kingdoms and believe that they will stand forever, that your legacy won't be forgotten and then you look back at what you have done either in sorrow or pride. But it doesn't matter, because they will crumble, and will be forgotten. Not only that, but there are countless more of them in countless other worlds. I guess other demons see it the same way. We just grow older, gain more power, and eventually die nothing more nothing less."

He stood up and changed back into his main form. He was quite delighted to notice that his horn had indeed regrown by now. "Even if this uselessness is true, it will get me nowhere. If it doesn't matter at all, then what is the harm in pretending it does? I like your kind's liveliness, your lights, the way that none of you is exactly the same. So, maybe I will collect a bunch of you and create a crumbling kingdom of my own. Maybe I'll collect knifes, sing, or just pursue strength. Maybe I will look at my past or the reason certain things are the way they are now. Or I might just do all of those things, I'm sure my lifespan is long enough."

he guided the magic towards Amanda and her child. And furrowed his brows as the knife shattered and he had to use the magic he currently held in his body.

But it was not without results. Their wooden prison seemed to just flake off of her skin.

Eventually Sirin fell to his knees gasping for air. Amanda still had some pieces of wood sticking out of her body. However, her son seemed to be completely fine and even breathing at a normal rate.

Without hesitation Sirin managed to crawl up and place a magic seal on the child. "This should keep him safe until we get out of here."

My final exams start tomorrow so I’m freaking out.
