Chapter 10: First Gym Battle (Part 2)

Callum sent out his next pokemon.

As the light died down I saw it is a Floatzel.

Now I can see where Cilan and his brothers got the idea of their battling-style from in the future.

If my guess is correct Callum's last pokemon is a grass-type.

But even if I'm wrong I'll still go for the win.

Naturally.

"Dragonite, Extreme Speed."

"Floatzel, Endure."

As Dragonite slammed into Floatzel, the water weasel took the attack but got right back up.

"Now Agility, and then use Aqua Jet!"

Floatzel's speed increased dramatically and before I knew it it was covered in a jet of water and slamming into Dragonite's back.

Which caused him to cry out in pain.

"Take to the air. Then use Dragon Breath."

"Don't allow that. Use Blizzard!"

Breathing a freezing wind of cold air from its mouth Floatzel once again landed a hit on Dragonite. Whose wings became slightly frozen as this happened.

"Rain Dance, then use Whirlpool!"

Rain clouds once again appeared over the field and blanketed it. Then Floatzel summoned forth a giant whirlpool in its grasp and tossed it at Dragonite, who was engulfed in it.

As he spun around, eventually he slammed into the ground.

"Ice Beam."

"Move, dodge it." I called.

But Dragonite was too slow, and was instead hit by the attack.

Falling to the ground shortly afterwards.

"Dragonite is unable to battle. The winner is gym leader Callum and his Floatzel." Chili stated.

Taking out his pokeball I returned Dragonite. "You did good, now rest." I told him.

I then enlarged another pokeball and sent out Ladon.

Fraxure is too burly to have a chance again Floatzel speed, especially with Rain Dance in effect. Its Swift Swim ability is in high gear. So its up to my partner to take it out.

"Aqua Jet." Callum spoke.

"Protect. Then take to the skies." I said.

As Floatzel closed in, a green energy dome appeared around Ladon protecting him from harm.

He then took the skies.

"Dragon Breath."

"Dodge using Agility." Callum said.

So once again Floatzel increased its speed while dodging Ladon attack.

I literally saw afer images this time.

'Just how fast than Floatzel get?' I thought.

"Ice Beam."

"Protect once more. Then use Sunny Day, followed by Dragon Rush." I said.

Since we need to lockdown Floatzel's speed advantage.

Ladon protected himself with a dome as the beams of ice raced toward him.

Then once the attack stopped the sky returned to normal, and then coated his entire body and rushed toward Floatzel, finally scoring a direct hit.

"Get in close and use Ice Fang."

"Don't allow that. Use Swift." I said.

Once again Callum was madly shocked, as several stars exited Ladons' mouth and struck Floatzel.

"Keep up the pressure. Use Thunder Fang."

Coating his mouth in electrical energy Ladon raced toward Floatzel, and grasped it in its jaws.

Electrocuting it, and causing it to cry out in pain.

Once it was over Ladon tossed it into the ground, taking back to the skies after he did so.

We waited at Floatzel stood to its feet.

But then dropped to one knee, passing out shortly afer.

"Floatzel is unable to battle. That means the winners are Ezra and Salamence." Chili stated.

I gave Ladon a thumbs up, and he roared in happiness.

Callum returned Floatzel, and then immediately sent out his last pokemon.

A Roserade.

Just like I thought. Fire, Water, and Grass. Like his son's in the future.

Foreknowledge is wonderful at times like this.

But I won't let it make me arrogant.

Especially in this final battle. Since I don't know if this Roserade has the Poison Point ability or not.

If it does then my pokemon are going to have a hard time.

"Stun Spore."

"Blow it away using Tailwind, then use Flamethrower." I said.

Ladon whipped up a powerful wind with his wings, blowing the spores away. He then unleashed a powerful torrent of flames from his mouth, striking Roserade.

"Dazzling Gleam." Callum said.

"Fuck." I muttered.

Just as a powerful flash of lights struck Ladon, causing him to crash into the ground.

I was not expecting a Fairy-Type move.

"Venom Drench." Callum said.

A disgusting purple sludge then exited the openings on Roserade's two flower-shaped hands and drenched Ladon.

Which caused him to cry out in pain.

'He's poisoned. This isn't good.' I thought.

But if I switch him out now then Fraxure will be in the same spot. So I'll stick with him for now.

"Flamethrower." I said.

"Dodge it. Then use Swords Dance, followed by Poison Jab."

Roserade dodged the torrent of flames by going to the left.

It then powered up and closed the distance, its arms glowing an ominous purple color as it did so.

Reaching Ladon, it began punching him from all sides.

'He's almost done. But not yet.' I thought.

"Swift." I said.

Ladon then released stars which struck Roserade.

After he did so I returned him, and then quickly sent out Fraxure.

"Good choice. You returned your pokemon who was on the brink of defeat. But not before getting in one last attack to throw us off balance." Callum said.

"Of course. I know if I give a poison-type room to maneuver I'll be in trouble." I replied.

"Then you are a trainer who has done his homework." Callum spoke. "Still, that does not mean you will be victorious. Grassy Terrain, then Energy Ball."

'Time for some payback.' I thought. "Taunt. Then use Aerial Ace." I said.

Fraxure stopped Grassy Terrain in its tracks, then scored a direct hit on Roserade.

But the moment after he did so I noticed the poison effect taking hold of him. Which means Roserade does have the Poison Point ability.

Just our luck.

"Poison Powder." Callum said.

"Taunt once more, then use Dragon Pulse." I said.

No way am I going to let him stack poisoning on Fraxure.

Once again Roserade move was canceled and Fraxure unleashed a powerful pulse at it.

But Roserade managed to dodge.

"Mega Drain."

"Giga Impact. Finish this!"

Before Roserade could start draining Fraxure energy, he charged forward and slammed into it.

Creating a small explosion as he did so.

When the dust settled Roserade was out could, and while down on one knee Fraxure was still conscious.

Meaning victory was ours.

"All of the gym leaders pokemon are unable to battle. That means the challenger Ezra is the victor." Chili stated.

"Yes!" I shouted.

I won my first gym battle.

After basking in the glow for several moments I returned Fraxure to his pokeball to keep the poisoning from getting worse.

Since pokeball's put pokemon into a sort of pseudo stasis. That's why status effects don't get worse when they are inside of them.

Once I did this I walked over to Callum who handed me the Trio badge.

He also deposited a sizeable amount of money into my account.

Since just like in the games you get money from beating gym leaders. But unlike in the games here trainers can decided how much money they will wager on a battle.

Let me tell you, some trainers are so stupidly reach they throw money around like its water. I am not lying.

It's no wonder so many people want to be pokemon trainers.

After the badge and the money Callum also gave me a TM. Which is Endure.

A great move under the right circumstances and one my pokemon can use.

"Thank you." I said to Callum.

"It was nothing. And thank you for such an amazing battle." He replied.

'Yeah, it was super cool." Cilan said.

"Dragons are awesome." Cress said.

"You may have beaten dad this time, but next time he won't lose to you." Chili said.

I simply smiled at the three brothers.

"Well then, good day." I said.

I then left the Striaton city gym, enjoying the weight of my first ever gym badge.
