Chapter 5 Megan

  I was slightly unconscious when I heard some voices, I tried to open my eyes to have a view of what was happening around me. My vision was very blurry and I was damn weak. This time, I was not chained, and neither am I in an hospital. I could still see my surrounding with my vision still remaining blurry, where I am right now looked like a research lab. Why would I be in a lab, I thought to myself, I realized that I was not lying on a bed, but I was held up in a vertical position, while some kind of metallic things were tied around my waist with the vertical board my back was resting on.

  "Well! Well! Well!, I think the drama is over now, it's time to face the real business." said the man who is approaching me, my vision is getting more clear. the man approaching me wore a lab coat, and a pair of eye glasses which made him look more decent.

  "How am I here, what is this place." I said in a weak tone.

  "Oh, that is a very long story. Why don't we get those things off you first" he said and pressed some buttons on the device he is holding, then he removed the metallic object that was placed on my head, while the metal object around me loosen, releasing me from the vertical board. I had to sit down on a nearby chair because I am too weak to stand on my own.

  "Who are you" I asked him.

  "You are too weak to ask silly questions, after five years of hibernating, i am surprised to see that you did not demand for anything, food to be precise. And for your question, my name is Megan." If I should recall what hibernating means, it means a deep sleep done only by wild animals. I stood up to follow Megan out of the lab. I saw other people in lab clothes, even doctors, I also saw different machines at work. It felt as if we were in another century, as if these people here as got technology in another way.

  "Where are we going to, what is this place." I asked him while admiring this whole place that looked nothing less that a science research company.

  "To get some food in that stomach of yours" Megan walked into the elevator and pressed the button for floor 62. While we were still in the elevator, I saw my reflection in front of me due to the walls of the elevator being translucent. But the reflection I saw is far older than me, I moved my head forward to confirm what I saw.

  "You have questions for what you are seeing, right?" Megan asked, because he saw me fidgeting due to what I saw.

  "Of course, because I seem to look older than I am before" I frowned.

  "You are twenty seven years old actually, you were fifteen when you were artificially manipulated into hibernation and you woke up after six years and hibernated naturally when you were twenty two. And today you woke up after five years of hibernating, which makes you twenty seven years old, you skipped so many years." When I heard this, I felt like my blood was instantly drawn out of my body, I was so shocked to the extent that I was mute for a long while before the elevator finally reached its destination and automatically open.

  'everything here is weird, even my body looks younger than my age.' I thought.

  At the canteen where Megan went to collect my lunch, everyone was in white, including those without lab coat. They were glancing at me as if they know me or something is stopping them from interacting with me. When I was eating in the lunchroom, someone came in, his eyes looked swollen as if he had been awake all night just to cry.

  "Amelia" his voice was hoarse.

  "Amelia, it's really you" He came closer to me and I didn't know what to do, i just acted numb. Something flashed in my head when he hugged me.

  I found myself somewhere that looked familiar,

'Isn't this where I laid unconscious before Megan released me from those device' I thought and then I saw a lady that looked like me, walking towards a man and then hugged him.

"Edward, please I promise. After this... after this last one I won't do it anymore

{Present time}

  "Charles needs you in his office" Megan said and he retracted from the hugging.

  "Wait, he is around" He asked before he face palmed himself.

  "of course" Megan responded, the man in front of me turned around to punch the wall causing the wall to have a little crack, i shrieked seeing this. He left the room banging the door, and the atmosphere felt as if nothing happened.

  "Who was that" i asked

  "Edward" Megan sighed

  "Don't worry about any thing, you will get to know everything you need to know when you meet him" Megan said
