Chapter 31 – Rescue

"My Gourd!" Jhin cried out in alarm.

He quickly scanned the room. However, when he saw the preparator, he suddenly froze.

With its pair of moon-like eyes, the black cat hovered in the air as it stared at Jhin with a disappointed look.

Its hands were holding the gourd. And after shaking its head, it started drinking.

Jhin tried opening his mouth, but before he could do so, a surge of electric current flowed through his body.

"Ahh!" His entire body shook. He was electrified.

[Notice… your master is telling you to follow it.]

The black cat landed on Jhin's shoulder. It lifted its paw and pointed towards the "Direction."

Seeing its paw, Jhin felt frustrated. 'Damn it! I should reach Tier 2 fast and get rid of this stupid cat!'

From the corner of his eyes, he could see the cat drinking the gourd. Devouring the precious liquid inside the gourd.

Jhin was so angry and indignant but since he was a slave, he has no choice but to follow its commands.

With a deep sigh, he follows the direction the cat pointed. They exited the stone house and started walking south.

"Where are we going?" Jhin asked in a soft voice. Despite being angry, he still check his temper. He doesn't want to offend the cat. The pain of being electrified was no joke!

Instead of replying, the black cat continued sipping the gourd, treating Jhin like an air.

Jhin felt a knife stabbing his chest. His priceless treasure, the content of the gourd was being extravagantly consumed.

He couldn't help but regretted his action of revealing the gourd. If he knew that the black cat would appear out of nowhere, he wouldn't have taken it out. He thought that it was still sleeping in Crystal and Saline's place.

Although he could ask the cat to return the gourd, his trembling hand warned him not to. The likelihood of being punish was huge. Instead of taking such risk, he decided to keep silent. He could just create a new supply of juice once the cat returned the gourd.

They walked for a ten minutes until they arrived in a remote alley.

Stone houses neatly lined up. But unlike the military camp, the houses here were dirty and dusty. There were scattered rocks and boulders at the road.

[Notice… Your master is telling you to prepare for combat.]

A window appeared in front of Jhin. After reading it, he glanced sideways and realized that the cat was pointing a certain house.

'Does it want me to steal some treasure?' Jhin thought. He couldn't help but pay more attention to his surroundings.

The entire alley was desolate. Not a single individual could be seen. All the doors were shut. And it was eerily quiet.

Then he focused on the house the cat was pointing. Just like the other stone houses, this house appeared normal except for some muffled noise coming from it.

Jhin touched his chin, his pair of ruby eyes scanned the surrounding. After he confirmed that there's no one in sight, he decided to hide in a corner before summoning an ink soldier.

"Scout the house."

The ink soldier turned into a blur as it sneakily moved towards the house. As it got closer, Jhin could hear some things from their shared senses.

"Who gave you the guts to attempt sneaking your way out?" A rough voice sounded.

A moment later, a crisp slap was heard followed by a hoarse voice, "Hmph! To dare make us work, you deserve to be slapped."

The ink soldier transformed into its rune form. With its small size, it managed to sneak in.

"Discipline her fast! We have to return to the base before we are discovered."

"Yes ma'am!"

The ink soldier followed the direction of the voice. And the moment it did so, anger flared on Jhin's eyes.

He could see two burly men beating a child! Slapping and kicking her petite body.

"Beast!" Jhin felt his blood boiling. The child's soft yet pained groan triggered some of his memories. Without wasting time, he summoned two more ink soldiers and sent it to the house.

"Kill them!"

The ink soldiers' rune flew and entered the house. The three ink soldiers positioned themselves behind the three enemy.

"Attack!"

The three ink soldiers reverted to humanoid form and sent a solid punch to their targets.

"Bam! Bam! Bam!"

The sound of fist entering one's flesh reverberated inside the room. The two men beating the child failed to dodge and the ink soldier's fist embedded on their chest.

Taking their lives in an instant!

[Ding! You have obtained 6 ink drops.]

[Ding! You have obtained 9 ink drops.]

Two notifications rang inside his head, but Jhin's doesn't have the time to read them. His focus was directed on the violet-robed woman.

The woman was able to stop the ink soldier's attack.

"Who are you!?" She shouted. Behind her was glowing black tail.

Jhin clearly saw it, she used her tail to block the ink soldier's attack.

"Attack her!" Jhin commanded and the other two quickly joined.

They rushed towards the woman, each of them sending a straight punch.

"Hmph!"

The woman snorted. Then, she swung her tail, creating countless whip-like shadows in the air.

With a loud bam, her tail and the ink soldiers collided.

"A Tier 2 combatant!" Jhin exclaimed in shock.

Her tail whip sent his three summons flying.

"Heal!" He quickly ordered while he observe the woman.

The woman has appearance similar to humans. However, she has a long black tail, and a pair of black rat ears. Though they looked cute on her, the discovery startled Jhin. His instinct was screaming! Telling him to run away!

The battle on their way to the shelter had left a deep impression to him.

To have the rights to be called a magical beast, a creature must at least reach Tier 1 in strength. Yet the Tier 2 Rafael was able to easily slay Berserk Wolves during the fight. Much more, he was already injured at that time.

Jhin's mind rapidly calculated. If the woman discovered him, he would for sure, die. But, the sight of the unconscious child on the floor triggered him. He doesn't want to leave! He wants to save the child!

"Fuck!" Jhin cursed before looking at the ink drops, he had just obtained. "Running without trying isn't my style! Go fight her!"

He changed his commands. Instead of letting the three ink soldiers attack together, he ordered one to run towards the door, the other to the window, and the last to attack the woman.

"Bam!"

The one attacking the woman was split in half after receiving a tail whip. But the wound quickly healed, and the ink soldier rushed towards her again.

A series of collision sounded. The woman tried to prevent the ink soldiers from escaping while defending herself. However, her attacks were futile! The ink soldiers just keep on regenerating.

"Dammit!" She cursed before rushing towards the child.
