Molly wasn't sure how long she kneeled on the ground in utter shock trying to comprehend what happened. Her knees had long gone numb and she hadn't moved at all by the time Demon Evan came back covered in more blood than before.
It was hard to tell because his pitch-black facial features blended together in the darkness but she was fairly certain he had a grim expression when he returned. His tail lashed nervously like a cat's and he was wringing his clawed hands. He addressed her hesitantly and his voice was different too. It was still deep but much scratchier and more booming.
"Molly, are you alright? I'm so sorry you had to see that."
The voice may be different but the tone was one she was very familiar with. Gentle and concerned for her.
"This…isn't a dream, is it?" she asked faintly.
