Elric looked at her solemn expression. Her eyes were fixed at him, waiting for him to begin. And he was out of words. He continued looking at her and didn't say a word. 

"Are you going to speak or should I just leave?" She asked in a cold manner. 

He nodded at her and began, "As I had said, I don't remember-" 

"Is there anything else you want to say?" she asked, interrupting him in the middle.

"Eve, it's not confirmed that he is behind all these murders," Earl interjected as she wasn't allowing Elric to elucidate himself. Seeing her avert her gaze he continued, "He doesn't remember anything."

"Do you want me to believe in him? What's wrong with you Earl?" she raised her voice. "He killed the lord. Does it matter if he remembers anything or not?" 

"I am not telling you to believe in him. At least give him a chance so that he could elucidate himself," he replied. Seeing her remain silent, he added, "Is it that you don't want to believe in him?"
